Man - this was great! Didn’t want to let my old Mach Smash go. Don’t use it a ton but good memories. Figured I’d give a shot at taking the whole thing apart & replacing a few parts. Didn’t take pics & knocked the parts tray. So when I went to reassemble, I was confused on one bearing & two washers. Watched several similar videos before yours, they sucked. Good speed & the pics were exactly what I needed.
To get that spool bearing out take a pair of pliers and put one jaw on the end of the pin, the other jaw on the shaft and squeeze it out. I have an old worn out pair of pliers that has like an 1/8" offset when the pliers jaws come together so that helps a ton. Its a booger to get off and you have to put it back on centered just like it came off. Way I do my old greenie Curados anyhow. Watching this video to do my Lews and I appreciate you making it.
My reel was silent on retrieve. Opened her up. Greased her. Put back together. Casts great but on retrieve u can hear a slight "grinding" I pulled her apart and noticed the sound is coming from the small gear shaft (brake adjustment knob) when it's meshing together with the largest gear. I didn't take the big gear out but did take the smaller gear out that adjusts the brakes. Is there something I'm missing or something. When I manually hold them at a curtain position where they r flushed up it isn't so noisy
@@Tony-vk4gc I’m not entirely sure, but when I’ve had issues like this sometimes somethings upside down sorry I can’t give more details. I’m just unsure.
@@WestPointLakeWilly I just took it apart for the 3rd or 4th time and double checked everything. Man. I clicked the button down to release the line and it stiffened up all the gears into position. I rotated them and didn't hear the clicking. Put it back together just now. The clicking is still noticeable. But it is so much softer of a grinding clicking type noise. It reduces it by 50% or more easily. So I'm gonna just live with it haha Thanks for the reply. I pulled out like four 9lbs and a 10lbs bass along with like ten 8lbs bass with this American hero lews speed spool combo and about the same number of 8s. 9s. And a single 10lbs with my lews tournament baitcaster and haven't had an issue. Tons of them 7 and under. Most out of thick lily pads which puts some pressure on the reels I'm sure. But haven't had issues with either. Just wanted to do some upkeep on them. Now I wish I just left them alone brother haha The tournament lews has a cool little window to use for greasing. Just one screw it bam. A window opens up for u.
I only work on local fishermen reels. I don’t have shipping and receiving options currently. However, $35 per reel with no guarantee because I do not have replacement parts. Sorry everybody.
Under the big gear there is a arm that has a triangular peace…. “edit original reply” the backward reeling is normal one of the gears in backwards. Or on the main drag shaft, the gears are not all the way down.
This is one of the best complete break down videos I’ve watched. Thanks brother.
Thank you so much, wanted to do more but I started a new job and I don’t have the free time to make videos at the moment.

Thank you!! Not many kind words anymore, so thank you very much!!
I got this reel as a birthday gift from my wife 2 years ago and I didn't want to see it go to waste. Thank you for showing me how to clean it up.
Thank you for the video. It helped me put my reel together

How much do you charge to service a Lews baitcasting reel

Hi great video learn a lot only problem I have to figure out the reel is going backwards.
Under the big gear there is a arm that has a triangular peace…. “edit original reply” the backward reeling is normal one of the gears in backwards. Or on the main drag shaft, the gears are not all the way down.
Thank you brother I will break it down again
Hi, I'm not sure which way sleeve with tapper inside should be put, tapper side up or towards gears? Thank you
@@jacekkoltuniuk6974 If my memory is correct it will be towards the gears.
Did you figure that out? That's controlled by the clutch.
I let my friend use mine and it came back in a Ziploc
@@Redneck676 your friend needs to give you $120 for a new one. Dang
That's an E-clip, not a C-clip.
If that is all I got wrong in this video, then I’m counting it as a win.
LOL, I couldn't help commenting because Debo made that mistake and caught a lot of grief for it.@@WestPointLakeWilly
