Back in 1962-63 that highway was a gravel road. My high school played against Lynch and Spencer in basketball. Lynch had a bigger school and was a difficult opponent. Spencer was even bigger and badder. I'd have to check the yearbook for that year on how those games turned out. In 1995 I did my first week-long bicycle tour between two of my boyhood homes, and rode along that road from Niobrara to the Ft Randall dam on the 2nd day. I had good memories from 1963 and created some new ones, but a lot of my memories of 1963 travel on that road unfortunately became less vivid then, and I've never been able to recover some of the old sensations since then. Maybe that is what is meant by the saying, "You can't go home again." Doesn't mean I don't want to ride there again. For now, it was good to see those places in your video.

Burke Built... out of Fond du Lac! The condition of that playground equipment shows how well built it is. Yes, I can remember those surfaces after being heated by the ☀️. 😳

Thanks for the tours of Verdel, Lynch and Bristow Sally!
As far as safety and playground equipment goes, in the not too distant future no fun will be allowed except fruit cups and coloring books.

That brick building on Main Street Verdel used to be in International Harvester dealership, in 1943 my grandfather bought an IH stationery engine there believe it or not. Also tv game show Price is Right host for many years Bob Barkers grandparents were from Verdel.

Great little towns! It's always surprising to me that people still live there. I'm sure they have to drive quite a distance to get some major shopping done, but they appreciate coming back to a quiet and peaceful home. Thanks, Sally and Marty!

Somewhere in Nebraska is a diner that serves your food without plates.
They dump your food right onto a plastic tablecloth.
I watched a couple eat spaghetti. They had the most fun they could with their clothes on.

Businesses still have land lines (former network analyst for a large chain of grocery stores). Often, we'd open a ticket with a carrier like Verizon, who'd have to pass it on to a local telco out in the boondocks. If it was after dark, rotsa ruck. No one would head out that way until morning. If the troubleshooting had to be done in a part of the country like West Virginia? Noooope. No technician was going to try and find their way up in some coal country holler in the dark.
