I love watching your adventures and learning wonderful historical fun facts. You and meandering Marty are so much fun. my husband and i wish we had done more sightseeing and meandering but now we follow you. Thank you.
You're not the only one Dave! I only happened to find out Young America existed by accident -when researching Barton. Ps. Thank you and you're welcome 😉
Excellent content! When I used to travel in that area for business, I would stop and the beautiful West Bend library during down time to catch up on admin work. Of course, I never did any exploring so I’m glad you did that for me! So much to see in Wisconsin.
This was all very interesting. The only "Young America" I had previously heard of was in Minnesota. I remember 30 or 40 years ago when you sent away for a rebate on something you purchased, sometimes the address was in Young America, MN.
17:02 where you were was right across from the House ( looks like a barn) That My mom lived in with her 12 brothers & sisters way back in the day! Down that bath by that barn is where we used to hang out & party when we were in school! Oh, the good old days!
Great job as usual Sally, To bad Marty had to sit this one out he missed out on a real fun town!Oh well maby next time. That sure was a lot of great information on an obscure area, You just never know what these little places are hiding.
Yes, I agree. I live in Tacoma Washington 30 min south of Seattle and these two cities were beautiful at one time but now the homeless, criminals and garbage rule the day!☹️😤
Thanks for sharing Barton and Young America with us. I never knew anything about these little towns within West Bend. As always a good informative and entertaining video Sally.❤
Interesting. I live in West Bend, more specifically Newburg. Which is the second town founded by Barton Salisbury annexed by West Bend 5 miles East of town. I also used to deliver mail in Barton.
Great video. You only scratched the surface. There is a lot more to the story of Barton and Young Amerca. We were going to buy a house in Young America and some of our kids friends lived there. Quite a beautiful place. Thanks for the video.
Was excited to see this since there are some villages hidden in northern california towns. Btw, love your hat! Barton looks like an interesting place to live. Good question that how many people know that Barton was its own town. Commerce street is good name for that street. Did you have to kiss the frog to get Marty back to his human firm😅? Wisconsin house is a cool old brick building with interesting history. That's interesting about Salisbury. Oh no too bad about your boots 😢! Edible oil filters- have heard of them! Young America- makes sense it is a forgotten village. Thanks for sharing the history of it. Love the looks of that old house.
Used to make lots of things in my hometown of west bend . Gehl company made farm machinery, Amity made leather goods, west bend bend company made pots and pans, popcorn makers coffee pots and dehumidifiers…. All gone
That’s too bad when government allows local industry to slip away be it local gov or state gov or federal gov companies need to produce the best product possible government needs to give the best tax breaks possible and the local population needs to strongly patronize those brands
Young America is a neat little hamlet that still exists within the TOWNSHIP of Barton. The former VILLAGE of Barton was separate. Young America was never in the city of West Bend.
Aww yes, nothing like Gods Country, I definitely have my favorites in the great State of Wisconsin, Horicon, Fort Atkinson, and my all time favorite; BRISTOL Wisconsin!! Ohh 😮 and WITTENBERG Wisconsin, would you believe Wittenberg has the best Laundromat I’ve ever😂 seen? 😂 And last, didn’t Escanaba belong to Wisconsin at one time? Thanks 😊 Happy Trails!
The city of "Speedway" in Ind is the same. It's a separate city inside Indpolise, Were the Ind 500 is. Home town of news anchor Jane Pauline and Janet from 3s company
Did you know that the small house next to Kid her store use to be the Barton post office. And the house.next to Salisbury sign use to be the phone company !!!
Actually, Throughout its history, West Bend has maintained a strong focus on quality assurance. Their products are known for their durability and reliability. This commitment to excellence has fostered trust among consumers, making West Bend a household name.
When I was younger Young America was where we went to party because the cops never went out there, and on the rare occasion when they did there was plenty of places to run and hide.

Your videos on Wisconsin are always interesting. As a lifelong resident of Wisconsin I'm amazed at how many places I am totally unaware. Thanks.
You're not the only one Dave! I only happened to find out Young America existed by accident -when researching Barton.
Ps. Thank you and you're welcome 😉
I don't remember for sure. But isn't Young America the name of a small amusement park in downtown Green Bay. I was there once many years ago.
Excellent content! When I used to travel in that area for business, I would stop and the beautiful West Bend library during down time to catch up on admin work. Of course, I never did any exploring so I’m glad you did that for me! So much to see in Wisconsin.
Wow, this one was jam packed with lots of, sightseeing goodies!
Oh yes it is lol

Love and appreciate your videos! Wishing Marty a speedy recovery.
Shoe goo glue works wonders and thanks for the tour of Barton Sally!
🤠👍
So refreshing to see a nice, clean town with no homeless or tents on the sidewalks.
Yes, I agree. I live in Tacoma Washington 30 min south of Seattle and these two cities were beautiful at one time but now the homeless, criminals and garbage rule the day!☹️😤
Well we’ve solved that problem in the UK…Suella Braverman….is making pavement tent living illegal..
Instead of a post with a complete and utter lack of empathy, what are you doing to help with the plight of homelessness? 🤔
@griswald7156 how thoughtful. 🤡🤡🤡
It’s hard to live in a tent when the windchill is -40 in the dead of Winter.
I grew up in west bend I also briefly lived in Barton sitting by the river where it is damned was one of my favorite spots.
It's a great spot.
Great video. These towns are true gems.
This is one of my favorite videos!

Thanks Bonnie! Marty is on the mend and will be back in his usual spot soon.

Great 👍 history of a town....cool glasses Sally and Marty 😊

Sally
I hope some point you will get to explore and tell the history of Mineral Point, WI.
I hope so too!
Great vid SSS. I hope your wobbly boot gets better soon.😂
Thanks! Marty fixed it right up with some shoe glue after we got home.
Aww, Marty missed a chance to ID the alarm box on the former bank building😢 Hope he gets better!🤒
Missed the Mies factory right in front of you. Provides a product across the country. The building at 430 ish was a post office.
Hello! Does it help your cause if I watch the commercials? As long as the adds aren't 5mins long, I'll watch 'em! LoL! Great video!
Yes it certainly does. Thank you, we appreciate you!
Hope you get a chance to do Monroe Wisconsin over in Green County unless I missed it Or do Saint Germain when you get a chance
That's kinda like Price Texas- depending on who you talk to- Some call It Price and some call it Carlisle after the school.
Cool 😎 as always, Thumbs up 👍
Thanks, you rock! 🤩
Another cool video. A quick question. Ever do a video about Chilton? I had a grandmother born near there. Am just wondering about it.
Not yet! We can add it to the list for future episodes, tho.
I think I saw the old G. Vogelsang home! Yeah Barton/West Bend!
Such a nice Lady you did a excellent tour

Washed my hunting clothes in the new laundry mat a few times… but a real draw is the walls of Wittenberg Murals through out the village
Our daughter and family live in the Barton area and our son in law grew up in the Young America neighborhood
Well done
My mom grew up in barton with three sisters and 2 brothers . There house is long gone and a new salon now takes up that location
Get well soon Marty!
Wisconsin is a nice state just a shame they have something called WINTER and that is not good
Lol 😂 you got that right!
Winter is beautiful. We do have indoor heating , you know.

Sally is the BEST...... Marty and Sally kick AZZ!!!!!
That’s right lol 😂
Barton. Best view by dam site!
I had a West Bend electric frying pan years ago...any connection? Did the Barton washer company morph into small appliances and change their name?
Actually, Throughout its history, West Bend has maintained a strong focus on quality assurance. Their products are known for their durability and reliability. This commitment to excellence has fostered trust among consumers, making West Bend a household name.
Yes west
Bend company made a variety of products. Pots and pans coffee makers popcorn machines and dehumidifiers just to name a few
Lived in SE WI my whole life and never heard of this
So, those village, township, cities there are like a Turduckin ?
Yep
Are you heading south this winter?
Used cooking oil can be used in stead of diesel fuel to power a vehicle. Once the oil is filtered
Yes, I think we may have met someone once in Quartzsite who did that.
Like those Russian nesting dolls a village within a village within a village.
Yes!! Exactly what I was thinking.
At the beggining there it looks like a old 71 or 72 Pontiac Grand Prix
9:55 looks like the Connor’s house
Try the “Veldschoen” method…
Neat!
i used Elephant glue to fix mine, still holding.
Is that like Gorilla Glue only with elephants?
Hope eagle eye feels better.
Grrreat
Thanks!
Young America I've got a history for you. Paul Ustruck
I should have kept watching because you just said you are leaving soon.
When I was younger Young America was where we went to party because the cops never went out there, and on the rare occasion when they did there was plenty of places to run and hide.
Love that 69 Pontiac Grand Prix at 17:32
No shout out for me - sad trombone sound.
Uh oh, did I miss giving you a shoutout?
Dibs on the 6th grade apartments.
Lol sixth grade was a good year for me too
My Dad taught at that school. Him getting a job there was the reason we moved to West Bend when I was 3.
First
Woohoo 🥳
😀
you look goofy with those glasses
