not abandoned. its called gold king mine and before anyone gets a itch to come over and ask the daily question, nothing is for sale. this is strictly a tourist attraction that does require admission at the gate. any donations are greatly appreciated and helps keep the area maintained and the show engines up and running. its truly a wonderful place to explorer, plenty of activities to even keep your youngest entertained by gold panning and also feeding the livestock on property. RIP Don forever will be missed
@@TagsGarageAZ I love that place! And yes, he will be missed. I took a picture about 30 years ago next to "The Other Woman" damn cool truck! Don walked around with us and there was no one else there that day. That was a great day!
@@MrSuperchargeron Was "The Other Woman" his 1989 10 wheel Dodge Cummins truck? I have a picture of my 89 Cummins (a 6 wheeler) next to his 10 wheeler, taken about 32 years ago. Same exact trucks except he stretched his and added the axle. There was no one else there that day so I got the grand tour as well. He even started up a few of the old trucks including the old Corbitt. Sad to hear that Don has passed.
Back when I was a kid, I used to discover beautiful cars and trucks in the deserts in Arizona, some vehicles dating back to the 1930s. Sun baked time capsules, sitting in their resting spots decades before I was born. Watch out for the rattlesnakes! Found and explored these things, just about every make you could think of. What's their story, how did they end up in their graves, why? What was their life like, who owned them? A lot of introspective questions. The history is very nostalgic and romantic. Those cars and trucks...if they could speak... The gearhead part of me wants to rescue and make them run, but they respectfully request to let them Rest In Peace. They're deceased, lived their lives. Gotta respect that.
I would love being able to go in there and get all of those vehicles running again if I was 24 years old and had my life to live all over. To me, That would be one great accomplished Dream come true. I have always loved restarting old Vehicles I found out on Farms and in Junk yards. I worked one summer in a Autos Junk yard and it was my job to go around through the cars and trucks to find cars that would still start and drive. The Boss would then pull them out to the front line and sell them to High School kids with a small down payment and he would double what they were worth and they would pay a small bit every week in Payments. Many he would reprocess and we would get them running again and then he would resale them for maybe $500.00 and $25.00 Down and $25.00 a week and the car might at the time only would be worth maybe $75.00 to $150.00, But he would sucker teenagers in so they could say they could buy their first cars. I will never forget my first 1946 Chevrolet 4 Door Sedan Dark Blue Top and Light Blue body.
This is a treasure trove of things that need restoring. It would be ashamed to let any of that old machinery just rot away. This is a place that I would even like seeing.
They were. … the man that owned it passed around 10 years ago or so IIRC…. The blue international kb truck that’s parked next to the modern car early in the video was built by the man that owned all of this….. he crammed a 300 cummins into it with a 13 speed I believe…. He used to haul cars with it and show it off….
Wow. My wife and I visited this place several years ago. I was driving my '36 Chevy Street Rod and when the old boy running the place saw it we sorta kinda got "membership into the club". Spent the afternoon with us. Told us the story of that massive 3 cylinder Generator seen about 5:30 including how he purchased it back east and towed it back here. Very interesting and innovating guy. He even fired it up. Quite the effort to get it running but real interesting. I remember he was into Studebakers big time.
Sadly due to the BABVVO and TEBBVO laws, all petrol cars will unfortunately soon be banned from public streets in the EU, CH USA and Scandinavia :-( In Germany, the Green People's Party has given the order to shorten the fuel supply from 2025 by reducing all conventional gas stations to just one state-run central gas station per city or county Now they even want to slow down all gas pumps by 20 liters per minute to 2 liters per minute... From 2027, some car spare parts will also be banned in the EU... such as exhaust systems, turbochargers and even some engine and gearbox oils. .. California and New York will do the same from 2027... So no more investing in petrol cars... They even created a new type of crime here called emissions and smoke crime . "Bundesabgasbespaßungsverbotsverordnung" BABVVO in Germany and HESCHLAVVO in Switzerland and SMORVERBIDDEN in Sweden. Unfortunately, aditionaly the Green Jesus Federal Exhaust Gas Funneling Prohibition Ordinance (BABVVO) will soon ban the driving of combustion engines in public outside of verifiable commuter trips and transport trips, as exhaust gas fungus will then be a traffic offense! In addition, the green Jesus of Germany is probably planning to shut down all chimneys and have them filled with foam from June 2025.
The small machine with the framework and hand wheel is a Barber Greene 82A aggregate loader, all the buckets and framework are missing from the machine, leaving just its chassis...
As a former truck driver I love seeing all the old ones. Someone should start a YT channel and show each one and a bit of information on what it was & what it was used for etc.. Many would be interested in such information/ videos. 😊 I really appreciate This video, I live in NM so may get back to Jerome one day to see this in person. @ 81 I do little traveling. Great Video! Happy Trails
The equipment and vehicles are sitting there rotting a way with no plan for any of them, the vehicles themselves are very much abandoned. Thanks for watching.
Great video!!! Get some snake proof boots!! The gear head in me wants to take all of those trucks, restore them and put them in a museum like the truck museum in Richmond VA 23:45 . Man I love old trucks!!!
Like I mentioned in the introduction, the town was an old mining town, which was abandoned when the mine ran dry. The town was bought by an older gentleman who collected these older vehicles. He has since passed away and these vehicles are now rotting away, “abandoned” if you will, with no plan of ever driving again.
@JunkTrucks yes, we used to have a vw show there in September called the Jerome jamboree! Old man would fire up the big engine in the morning. Lots of cool old trucks and equipment there, I was drooling over the lack of rust.
Hey man, this isn’t personal but I’m kinda tired of these comments. I know it’s the internet and people can do and say whatever they want, but the introduction of the video explains everything that you just tried to correct me on. Yes I know this is a museum (this was stated within the first 5 seconds of the video). The museum is literally named “The Gold King Mine Ghost Town” and the people who work there call it a ghost town as well. I’m just baffled by the fact that some people can take the time to comment about how I got something wrong, but not read half a paragraph which explains everything y’all are trying to correct me on. Thanks for watching.
Some of you kids don't get the big picture. If every guy like you picked the place apart, there'd be nothing for others to see. The whole idea of a MUSEUM is to preserve things so EVERYONE can see them.
I don't think so. Nothing good in Jersey. The people we deliver cars to from Arizona can't even pay the transport bill. Only thing they do better in jersey is write bad checks and hide like bit**** when you come to collect. TRUE STORY

The vehicles at7:17 are too shiny for being in the shelter, there should be more dust on them for all the years they have been sitting.
If all of those vehicles were restored, that would be an awesome museum
To me it's more awesome as is; it chronicles the inexorable march of time. Restored things are static and boring to me. Stuff is only original once.
Looks like a cool place to visit.
You didn't look at none of the old big trucks
