    So hard to find a video that shows you how to actually wire it. Cutting holes in ceiling and all that is super easy. I have no idea how to get power to the light. You know, connect the light to the electricity. THE most important step, that these tutorials seem to leave out every time.

      If you don't know how to wire, then probably leave it to the professionals is a better choice. It is electricity after all and there is a chance of fire if not done right 😂

      I agree. I know that I am capable but I just need to view it and learn. I have watched so many videos and people keep leaving that part out. They always say "leave it to the professionals", as if those professionals didn't also have to start somewhere. I'm not trying to wire an entire home, just add some led ceiling lights.

      Yeah. What is the proper wiring diagram? Do you wire these lights in series by jumping from one light to the next or do you use a star pattern with a central junction box that feeds each light with it's own 14/2?

    I am a professional home remodeling contractor, but I love to see what other people are doing wit their projects when I have time. This is faaarrrrrr and away one of the best DIY videos I have ever seen! Not only is the overall production quality excellent, although simple in it s execution, but this guy has taken the time to make very clear explanations and the camera work and sound quality are great! Please keep them coming! 90% of UA-camrs could learn a hell of a lot from your production example. I cringe at most of the DIY videos out there!

    • @MoneyManHolmes
      @MoneyManHolmes 3 роки тому +1

      Well the first one would have to be the middle because that’s the existing power drop. You would need to drill the holes and run wiring from the center to the second hole. From the second hole to the third one, etc. Do the math and determine the shortest distance to save on wiring. If the holes are not too far apart, you should be able to flop the wiring around until it’s close enough to grab it.

    • @MoneyManHolmes
      @MoneyManHolmes 3 роки тому +1

      Use one knockout as power in, and another knockout as power out. Be sure to use those plastic grommet inserts he showed to protect the wiring and keep it from sliding in and out of the box. Finally, be sure to check your local electrical codes and make sure they don’t require anything out of the ordinary. Check your light and driver to see if they are IC rated as well or they require air gaps all around.

    It made me irrationally angry when you easily pressed that knockout push in connector right into the box. 🤣 I have the same looking ones but the ones that I bought were made out of adamantium or something because the tabs wouldn't compress and they were a NIGHTMARE to install. I changed them out later and they were even worse to remove. I mangled the boxes doing it. They were the correct size and everything so I don't know WTF. I just got some different style ones that have a split down one side and they snap in just as easy as yours did. It made me cry a little bit when I tested it out. 🤣🤣🤣 I have a shitload of these lights (30+ of them) that I am going to install and I was not looking forward to those connectors and the blown in insulation falling in my face the whole time. and those WAGO connectors are great, I use the newer version with the clear housings. Love them.

    If you have an old house where the ceiling is more than one layer of drywall, do those springs still work?

    • @KeyWoodworks
      @KeyWoodworks  4 роки тому

      You could always remove some of the drywall so the springs would work.

    How did u connect the wiring?

  • @crglass67
    @crglass67 4 роки тому

    Good for you having attic access! Otherwise to feed wire in daisy chain across joists with no attic access you would then need to drill through the joists correct?

    Thanks for the great tutorial. What are your recommendations for installing these lights in a living room? Higher or lower than the 4000K? Thanks!

    • @KeyWoodworks
      @KeyWoodworks  3 роки тому +1

      I went with 3000K in all other living spaces and its a great color option.

      I am recently installing recessed led lights and I got the variable settings one that u can set at 3k, 4K, 5k. Then I added a dimmer cuz these r dimmable. Therefore u can vary the brightness for cool to white bright

      @@KeyWoodworks an electrician installed these lights in our bathroom, but the instructions don't show how to change the color temperature, can you tell me how

    • @KeyWoodworks
      @KeyWoodworks  2 роки тому

      If your lights are able to change color temps, there should be a switch on the junction box to make that change.

    I recommend to leave the gasket ring on, this will help stop the draft air flowing into your house, or humid air rising up into your attic that can cause black mould. it's good to realize that a team of Engineers and or Designers have developed these lights to work in our homes so that some of the "not so experienced DIY'ers" are successful. Seldom do I change a product that Engineers produce.
