That's is James Blunt Father in the video who was suffering from stage 4 chronic kidney disease. His Father had been a kidney donor already. After the release of the song a distant cousin came forward and was a match so his Father is still alive and doing well
On a positive side, after recording this video and everyone was crying, his dad looked around and said something like " Why's everyone crying? I'm still here..."
Sorry for your loss. I lost my Dad when I was 20, almost 40 years ago. That was also quite sudden. I used to cry regularly for about 5 years after he died. What helped me get over it, was realising through conversation with friends, that not everybody is lucky enough to have had a good Dad. I started to feel grateful for being so lucky, and afterwards when I thought about my Dad, it made me smile instead of making me feel sad, because I had all those wonderful memories. I hope you are able to find something in your memories of your Dad to help bring you peace.
Please - never apologize for showing true, raw emotion on your channel. It was very brave of you to post this reaction, and I 100% feel your pain and can empathize directly. Sending love your way...
I’m so sorry for your loss. Thank you for the honest reaction. I lost my father to cancer over a decade ago and I talk to him every day. Anytime the sadness gets ahold of you, make yourself think of a happy memory of him. It helps. God Bless You
Please, there is no need to apologize. This is an emotionally powerful song. I'm sorry for the loss of your father. I lost mine 36 years ago and I still think of him every day. Time will soften the pain, but carry the love he felt for you and your family, and don't dwell on that final day. Many blessings to you and your family.
Your reaction touched me and had me a 30 yr old man in tears, I lost my dad 28th November 2021 and its coming to 3 years and honestly this song is a kind of therapy I'm not one to show emotion I was brought up like James big boys don't cry and to tell you the truth I didn't cry properly until after and this song was what caused me to basically weep. Never apologize for showing emotion, I'm so sorry about your dad as well, until people experience losing a parent, they'll never know how it feels, your dad will be so proud of you and will be there with you.
Most of us go through life never considering the end of days of our dads. My dad was a monster and still I wish I had a few more moments to tell him "It's ok. I know your mistakes and you know mine. Right here, right now we are just two grown men saying good by." I would possibly find some forgiveness for him so that he could perhaps have a few moments pf peace. I got help, I found my humanity. He never did. It is important for you to express your sadness, as uncomfortable as it is, to let it out. If you don't it will eat you alive. Thanks for being vulnerable and showing the depths of your love for your dad.
Thank you for your true and honest reaction to this video. It is a very powerful song that most people can relate to, one way or another. So sorry for your recent loss of your father.
I hate you are so sad. I lost my dad when I was 11. I found him in a coma on Christmas morning in 1980 & he died on New Year's Eve. He had dealt with brain cancer for about 3 1/2 years before his death. 44 years later I still miss him so bad & I will still cry occasionally. But while the pain will always be there, healing will also come. I wish the best for you.
Loved the reaction. It was raw, it was real, it was powerful...and it was human. I lost my dad 6 years ago and it hurts most of the time. BUT grieving together helps so I promise you we all had similar reactions to this video the first time. So sorry for your loss and here is to better days ahead!
I’m So Sorry you lost your father…I lost both of my parents, so I know how painful it is. James Blunt did two other songs that are from personal experiences that are beautifully done, but you’ll want to see the official music video to get the full experience of the songs. The first is called “The Girl Who Never Was” and the second is called “Carry You Home”! Both of these are Very relatable to so many people around the world! ❤
Don't ever apologize for crying or showing that you care and miss your father. We appreciate your honesty and love you all the more for it. My heartfelt condolences, and I hope you find peace in remembering all the good times you had with your father. ❤❤❤
I'm sorry you lost your Dad so young. I was fortunate to have both my parents until I was in my 50s but they are both gone now. There will always be a hole in my heart, they were the the most loving supportive parents I could have asked for.
Very sorry to hear of your loss. I am beyond six decades and lost my own father 33 years ago. Every time i hear this song I go to a quiet place and spend a few moments. it can be hard at times, but it is important that we remember them. Take care.
Dont you ever apologise for crying! If your relationship with your father and your loss did not make you emotional, then it did not mean anything. I think your tears are beautiful. as it shows how wonderful a person/daddy your father was! Thank you for showing us how much he meant to you, I am sure he would be proud of his little girl. x
My father passed 22 years ago from cancer and this song is just a punch in the gut. The first time I heard it I had the same reaction as you. It just wrecked me.
Ola don't ever feel you need to say you're sorry I started watching your Channel last winter anti-new what you lost your father what sound does a for I couldn't imagine how painful that is I didn't know the name of this song but the first note I knew the song and I was crying right along with you search sending you a huge hug. I'll speak for all of your followers we love you❤❤
I'm 54 yo. Lost my dad christmas 2007. We always had our up's and down's. But to this day, I feel his prescence in my life. It's weird, but random thoughts I find myself saying, "Hey dad, How's things" and just telling him stuff. I started my own business shortly before he died, and he was the only person in my family who EVER wished me luck and said he believed in me. He was a tough man, but he shaped me to who I am today. Love you forever, Dad
Last year may as well be yesterday, when it comes to grieving. I lost my dad last year too but I might be old enough to be your grandmother and that makes for a whole different grief. I discovered this song within months of my dad‘s passing and I can’t even tell you how many reaction videos I’ve watched because it’s cathartic. My heart is with you.
Wow!! I had forgotten this one and now being an almost 70 yo man myself it means even more. Young people slow down and live life with love, time is precious before you know it your kids are grown and you are alone.
This hits hard lost my father to cancer but i was in iraq when he passed and couldn't be there for his funeral, but this and cats and cradle will always stay with me and like harry said im going to be like him someday i followed him and have been a Navy Seal for 14 years and god i wish i could have been there to say goodbye but its my turn to take the monsters away. We will meet again when its my turn love you DAD.❤
I’m so sorry for your loss. No wonder you are emotional! I’m sure your father was very proud of you… and still is! Thank you for sharing your personal story. 😢❤
So, so sorry for you loss. This song really gets to us all. "Just two grown men saying goodbye" were the very British, understated parting words of Jame's father, a Lt Colonel in Army to his son, a Captain in the Household Cavalry, as he was going off on active service, and danger, to Kosovo in 1999. This was James reaction to his fathers illness and bleak diagnosis. A raw, single take video of song he had never previously performed. Reduced everybody in that room to tears - except his father. "Why is everybody crying? I'm not dead yet!". And thankfully, a happy ending when this found the required donor.
First time I heard this was 3 days after my Dad passed away and it broke me I lost my Dad 5 years ago this August after he fell and hit his head sadly he didn't survive it caused a bleed on his brain I sadly never had the chance to tell him I loved him and that hurts but i know he is at peace now.
I remember my mother & father splitting& my father seeing us off at the back of a coach.....not knowing this will be the last time we will see him. He's died since but childhood memories/trauma seems to stick with you forever...You can never seem to escape from it. Xxx
Im sorry you lost your dad. I lost mine when I was young or at least the person I considered my dad. He died walking his dog. It killed me. I spent time on and out of psych wards. This song brought me some amount of closure. I will say prayers for the those who have lost there father's.
I feel your pain, I lost my mum 6 months ago, I've never felt a pain like losing a parent, nothings come close. As friends and family have said, it'll never be easy but it'll get less difficult over time, I hope they're right. I shouldn't really have listened to this song right now to be honest but crying is good sometimes. I know this wasn't about a mother but still, ive heard this song many times and it's normally already emotional but now it hits harder than ever for me. Stay strong ❤
I lost my dad in 2022 when he died i didn't get the chance to hug him n tell i love him but after a few months i ended up having to have brain surgery the surgery was 10 hours long i was in icu for a week i was with him during the surgery thays all i remember from being in the hospital having
This song has left many a reactor a bawling mess not to mention just about everybody else who just watches it. His Father's gesture at the very end really sends it all home.
I'm so sorry for your loss. I can not relate. I lost my father a couple of years ago at 95 yrs old, and good to the end. My mother is now 95 and still doing well. But be sure your father would want you to see the positives in his life and in yours, not be lost to grief. Be strong and make him proud.
I just subscribed, yeah this is a powerful video, but then to hear what you've just went through, im so very sorry ...best wishes to you and your family ❤
Both Blunt and his father served in the military and when James's was sent to Kosovo it has been reported that when his father said goodbye, his dad said, "you are not my son and I am not your father, we are just two grown men saying goodbye ".
I can tell you really did listen to him because you cited Wisemen. Most people would not know that song, but its one of my favorites too. The old guy with him is his father who was in dire need of a new kidney. He did get the kidney transplant in time. A side note, the old guy is also Emily Blunt's father too. Her and James are siblings.
I think I speak for everyone, or at least all of the good fathers out there when I say, don’t be sorry, your father loves you and we all can appreciate your reaction.
So sorry you lost your father young. I lost my Dad when I was 19 and it made me very angry for some years. It does get easier, and strangely this song helps.
ok, i can say this back in 2007, i lost me dad, he got a blood clot in his lung, which cut off the O2 to his brain, and left him brain dead by the time i got there i had to pull the plug on him....if i would have known about this song back then, i would have sang it at his funeral....
Don't be sorry.💔No matter how old you are, and you are still very young, the loss of a father is one of the worst things in life. Like yours I'm sure, fathers chase the monsters from under the bed or from the closet and one day it is our turn to do the same for them.
My dad has dementia he's not got much longer my mom keeps me updated I drive truck always gone hope to see him soon before I get the call but you didn't lose your father he is with you you'll see him again when it's your time good luck

These songs help the grieving process. You are not alone. You will hear your father's voice. He is with you .

I held my dads hand as he passed. It's something I will never forget. I am glad I was there. To chase the monsters away.

His dad is the definition of old English stoicism in this video. Glad he's still alive.
Your reaction was authentic and beautiful. Don’t apologize for having a heart!!

As Always, great reaction to a very emotional song, it's OK to cry
You can never be ready for this song...Just sit tight and get through it!
I'm so sorry for your loss darling..sending healing and love.☮️❣️🇬🇧
This was recorded live in one take , everyone was in tears except Dad who said why are you all crying im still here

I think no one can resist those lyrics, even if their fathers are okay. My father is okay, but I am crying .

Anyone who has lost a parent will always crack with this song, no matter the time since it happened it’s still raw.
Damn straight.

Dude...me too. I bawl like a baby despite being a full grown man... it's so wrong. :/ Great reaction, much love. X
Bless you sweet. We all have heartbreak in life. Time is our only healer x

Heard it for the first time too. Tears are mandatory I guess, great song!
Mildly pissed off i cant enter screens cos i know 100% if i was there in person you'd be getting a hug 😂❤
hey sweetness sorry for your loss just keep remembering the fun you had, hugs from a human grizzly.
This song has left many a reactor a bawling mess not to mention just about everybody else who just watches it. His Father's

How is it possible that a person could make so many people cry in a song

Really sorry for your loss. Never apologise for showing emotions. Sending hugs.

Emily and James are NOT related.
I was with my daddy when he passed away. I used this song for the tribute video for my dad. I lost both my parents within four months. It still hurts.
I lost my 28 years ago of cancer. Per his request he died at home with his head on my brother's lap. When ever I watch this video I cry like a baby.
🙏
You put your heart on the screen. I am so sorry you lost your dad. He must have been a good man judging from what I saw of you.
Tell the ones you care about that you love them every day. For someone, today may be the last chance.
I think I speak for everyone, or at least all of the good fathers out there when I say, don’t be sorry, your father loves you and we all can appreciate your reaction.

thank you
I'm so sorry about your father. God bless you.
It's cool you never have to apologize.
Thanks Mr Adam's. Did realize that I did not know the back story. I lost my father 2 years ago.
Loved it! I'd love to see you reacting to another James's song: The Girl That Never Was (official video). Lots of love from Brazil. ❤🇧🇷
May God bless you and comfort you.
I have never reacted to any other song/video the way I reacted to this one.
Don't be sorry.💔No matter how old you are, and you are still very young, the loss of a father is one of the worst things in life. Like yours I'm sure, fathers chase the monsters from under the bed or from the closet and one day it is our turn to do the same for them.
Lovely reaction
So sorry for your loss

I'm sorry for your loss.
Stay strong.
Lost my father when I was 50; I am now 73. Never got to say goodbye.........
It’s okay. We get it
I got u girl.
Your tears are sweet rain.
Please react to his Girl that never was. James said in a interview his song to him is like therapy. They are factual
