Good video. You really don't need to remove the cable from the housing, though.

i like the idea about mounting the sensor upfront, takes away the greater chance of damage from trail debris or chain.

Great idea mounting it at the front

Before you reattach the gear wire you should check to be sure you cable ends are inserted fully into the holders. At 3:30 time frame you see the housing ends not seated fully at both ends. But Thanks for the instructional video as I like this install better than adding the sensor at the rear of the bike. I don't like sensors or cabling near the chain, derailleur, or rear sprockets.

Like the video you explained it well just could not see your hands towards the end of the video to see what you were doing

I see two things you did wrong in this video that should be corrected if your going to use it as an instructional video for others. First off removing the cable from the shifter is absolutely not needed creating an unnecessary step. This will also confuse those who have a twist grip shifter. You can just pull the cable from the housing while leaving it intact in the shifter. Next when you put the cable housing and sensor back after trimming the cable you made a tight cross over the brake line creating a possible friction point. Otherwise good video.

      Good observation.

You are absolutely so correct, something like not having to take the cable out of the shifter will make it so much easier for some folk.
After all, what's the point of taking it out in the first place.
Thank you for some good observation.

Why do you install a splitter, rather than just an extension?

What do you do with the Shift Sensor plug coming off of the motor if you use the Y splitter? Just let it hang? Not in use?

@goldenmotorNA es necesario poner el cable en Y?
y si conecto directamente a uno de los sensores de freno funcionaría?

Hi Golden Motor, i have a problem on my double suspension bike, Kona Stinky. Every time there is a hole on the road the motor cut, at first i had put the shift sensor on the rear end and after i tried put it on the uper frame bar and still have the problem, do you think put it in front could solve my problem or the sensor could have a default? Thanks for the answer.

Do you not required the Y Splitter if you are to place the sensor at the rear of the bike. If not how do you connect the sensor cable. Is there a spare lead for this at the motor

    • @goldenmotorNA
      @goldenmotorNA  3 роки тому

Yes our controllers come with a spare plug

Do you know where to get the GSD version of the gear sensor. I found this from luna?
The gearsensor is divided into these different versions:
1)Version GS-D is a universal model for both derailleur's (front and rear). On this version restarting of the motor depends on the FINISH of the shifting cable movement. This is because system has to wait until the movement of the chain is finished to choose a sprocket or a chain ring.
2)Version GS-I is the model for INTERNAL GEAR HUBS. On this version restarting of the motor depends on the START of the shifting cable movement, plus defined time period. This is because system does not need to wait until the end of the movement of the chain to choose a sprocket or a chain ring.

Why you not show it working?

Sorry, disassembly and removal of the shifter cable is an unnecessary step. In the spirit of being fair, is there something I missed?

Couldn't you also just butt the sensor against any cable stop on the frame?

Can you place the gear sensors like that? I have seen it put near the rear wheel

You might add a comment as to why you are putting the sensor at the front. In my case the rear cable outer covering is very short leading only about 150mm from the rear axle - the rest of the cable runs without an outer cover up through the frame to the front where there is an outer cable again

Someone told me the sensor works better when sitting at the front, right after the brake lever rather than in rear, just before the derailleur/gear hub.

For some reason the cable can only be fitted trough one end only where the wire is.

Hello, I wanted to ask you for help. I bought the BAFANG BBS01B 36V 250W kit with Hailong 17.4Ah battery, to mount it on a SPECIALIZED STUMPJUMPER COMP HT 29 "from 2012. The problem is the size of the bottom bracket, the cylinder of the MTB is of length 73.5 mm and the internal diameter is 45.5 mm smooth, without thread. While the BAFANG one is 65 mm + 17 mm threaded, the diameter is 33.5 mm. Can you advise me how to solve without proceeding with a structural modification of the MTB. Sorry in advance for my terrible english.

There are different adaptors out there but generally they are for the bbshd 1000w motor

They should do away with the rear brake switch and offer a 2 wire sensor included with the kit for those with the naked wires on the top tube of the triangle. Mine are on the bottom of the tube so I will mount my sensor there. Mine has two female holes for the shift cable. No male to stick into the brake lever. Oh well.

please watch from the 4 min mark. you simply plug in the Y- splitter into one of the brake plugs.then plug the brake plug into the one of the plugs on the y- splitter and the gear sensor into the other plug on the y-splitter.
