I've got about 12 Ember tetras in a tank with some Cardinals and Rumy nose. The Embers are a beautiful little fish. Like you said, very gentle and active.
🔥 Used to love keeping those little guys, the camera doesn't do their orange justice - super vibrant, beautiful fish👌 Thank you thank you ✌️♥️ Congrats on hitting 35k as well🥳 40k just round the corner🚀
I absolutely love mine. I make no effort to breed them at all, but there's always seemingly another little one kicking around. I keep mine at 24c and 7.6ph, and even though there's a bunch of Emerald Danios, pygmy cories, a pleco, several types of shrimp, micro crabs, and more. Even with all that and "non-ideal" ph, they're thriving.
@@madhatterjones4781 either live food or good frozen food, daphnia and baby brine shrimp are excellent. Lots of moss (they're egg scatterers) as it provides safe spaces for the fry to grow without being immediately eaten. Stable water parameters. If everything else is good and you've been feeding them live/frozen food, a big water change can help trigger it too. I have a literal wall of flame moss that fills about a sixth of my 29g tank, and any time you look carefully within it you can find fry swimming about.
I've got mine with green neon tetras, yellow neocaridinas (and pigmy corydoras) in a black water tank. The contrast of colours is stunning but I had to add 3 male endlers to entice them all to come out and stop hiding in the vegetation as they are all fairly shy
Just came across at least three fry that managed to survive. It’s a 20 gallon that is heavily planted and only a group of five ember tetras and three black neons. There are some amano shrimp and a couple otto cats. Do you recommend separating the fry from the main tank?
i recently found 2 fry in my Kubotai Rasbora grow out tank. I sold 20 of them to someone and he gave me some mosses and he had ember tetras in his tank.. I think the fry came from there as my Kubotai "fry" were under 3 months old(large though). I put the 2 fry in with a new lot of Kubotai fry so i hope they are embers. I will see in a month or so i guess.
@@BlakesAquatics yeah i like the red and green. actually got some chilli rasbora now(havent seen them in Aus for years.. sold all the Kubotai grow outs but have lots of fry going in buckets. Once the grow i will keep a small scholl for the chilli tank
in the beginning of the video you mentioned that they're not the best schoolers. in your experience, what are some good small fish that school well? thanks
@@BlakesAquatics thanks, bro, very cool of you to respond so quickly. figuring out stocking for my 20gallon long. first planted tank, always done reefs.

Underrated fish ... but not by aquascapers, who appreciate the pops of orange against the green!
Definitely well represented there
Another great you tube video keep up the good work Blake
Thanks! Will do!
I have mine under a full spectrum light. The colour is amazing!
Very nice!
Nice man. And yeah...your LFS will pretty much buy every single one you have too. At least here in the US, people love them.
True that!
I have mine in a window that catches the evening sun and they look so shiny and orange in the natural light.
