I have a particular stubborn smudge on my lenses and was wondering if I could spray my microfiber cloth with a tiny bit of glasses lense cleaner?
Unfortunately the lenses aren't made of glass and can be damaged by using glass cleaners. Try a very small amount (just a fine mist) of distilled water on a microfibre cloth to clean. The cheapest and quickest way would be to fog the lens up slightly using your breath before wiping. If that doesn't work, you might try something like the specialised AR/VR lens cleaning pen I feature in the video.

I cleaned the lenses of my first quest 3 with a lens microfibre cloth and noticed small scratches on the lenses when looking at them under a light. I ended up taking that headset back and getting the 512gb version which I haven't even cleaned the lenses yet cause i really dont want to put those micro scratches on them but might not have a choice🤷.
Look up "Zenni optical" it's the company meta goes through for prescription lenses. You can buy non-prescription lenses as well, they are $30. Well worth it. You clean those instead of your actual lenses. If you or someone else scratches them just buy another pair.

Scratches WILL happen most of the time, the important thing about them is if they are deep enough to disrupt your vision. Small scratches DO NOT affect vision.
How do I prevent the front cameras from damaging?
they are glass so its very hard to damage
for quicker cleaning you can dip the whole head strap in the bowl of soap and scrub it with the rough side of a sponge.
Bought a quest 3 used and it reeked of swishers. Dude was puffing those 99 cent stink sticks and it seeped into the foam when you throw on the headset. Probably gonna try soaking it despite what you said bc i think this one time will be worth it

@@chris307 lmao good for you bro but to be honest, the absolute worst thing happened to me yesterday. My quest 3 is almost brand new and I am very careful with it, the worst ive done is one time i reached up above my head and stretched and it grazed my roof. I began my day by deepcleaning my quest like in the video and I was very proud and happy and i set it to charge. Later that day when my friends came over is where everything went wrong.
All my friends are slightly taller than me. One of them, call him O, O literally dropped the controller on the ground from SHOULDER height, ONTO CERAMIC. Then he fucking almost dropped the whole quest headset on the GROUND. After that he started swinging it by the handstrap and it hit the roof at incredible speeds and fucking blew up on the ground. I had to reassemble it and it was dented. Then my other friend punched the wall and didnt even say sorry to me and said he doesnt feel like playing anymore.
TLDR im heartbroken bro my most expensive thing and prized posession is now completely fucking banged up because I was being nice and letting my friends play.

TL;DR: be careful, use DRY microfiber cloth on lenses. If you really have to, put a tiny amount of distilled water on the cloth, not directly on the lense.

What’s streaking?
It's where dirt gets smeared/smudged and makes streaks across the surface of whatever you are trying to clean. Not to be confused with the other meaning which is to run naked through a public place.

No matter how much I wipe with a microfiber cloth the smudges don’t go away I’m just spreading around the smudge
Fog the lens ever so slightly before wiping to remove stubborn smudges. A tiny bit of water will help (like using your breath to fog it up) but don’t use a lot of water as this will damage the lens.
How about blow air out of your mouth instead of using a electronic air duster
My face cover smells bad. I think I need to use soap and slightly warm water.

why the hell would u need to clean your headset like this? the headset doesnt get dirty by just sitting on your coffee table. just use a micro fiber cloth for the lenses. and u dont need to use distilled water if theres a smudge on the lenses. tap water is fine lol jesus christ.
thats one way of looking at it. If the quest 3 is as durable as the quest 2, then indeed it is unlikely that thorough cleaning like this will be necessary. Having said that, this video just shows good cleaning practices, and depending on where you live, it can absolutely be a good idea to use distilled water. In some parts of the US tap water is pretty contaminated, and even just the presence of salt itself has the potential to damage a lens.

i had a quest 2 and it never got dirty except the lenses. i live in canada and used tap water. in the end its clean. this video is over kill on every level
if you use lense cleaner on the lenses you are destroying them, literally the first thing they tell you not to do.
