      @@KoRNeRd I'm almost entitely certain that they (HLB) hired someone, by the name of Heli Andrea, to do those eerie choir vocals.
      She could've been inspired by other stuff, like "Kaval Sviri", but I'm pretty sure it's just her singing with a fuck ton of vocal layers

    • @tarkenton3895
      @tarkenton3895 7 місяців тому +8

      @@Nathan-dn4zl it might be her singing it for a clear take but it's definitely taken from a phrase by the Bulgarian State Television Female Choir's version of Kaval Sviri. It's good to pay homage to cultures and traditions that inspire stuff. Sadly I can't find any mention by HLB stating where the musical sample is from.

    Considering he's the brains behind it, Buster describes what HLB is to me when talking about his writing process. Rather than writing from a typical metal band standpoint by doing riff, chorus, breakdown, riff, chorus, breakdown, end, he envisions the songs as soundscapes. THAT's exactly what HLB and Vildhjarta's music is to me. Soundscapes. Journeys, trips, not just songs. They're the most crushing and mind altering soundscapes I've heard that've helped me so immensely I couldn't put it into words.
    Buster and co have done so much more than just alter the metal scene

      @@HeavyReign12i don’t like to make this kind of comparison tbh, but i listened to dubstep for a lot of my childhood and a lot of things from dubstep like the weird rhythms and growly synths and glitchy industrial electronic sounding stuff made me adore djent/thall the moment i found it. idk i feel like it kinda fits comparing dubstep to specific kinds of djent. things from djent like screechy dissonance and the growl of the guitars give me the same kinda feelings from dubstep. and dubstep drops and breakdowns are almost essentially the same thing lol. its like my music taste leveled up lol. i also got into metal because of doom 2016, so that helps. thanks mick gordon

    • @HeavyReign12
      @HeavyReign12 5 місяців тому

      @@sirbonple I've said the same exact thing for years! I listened to a ton of dubstep when I was younger as well, and I still listen to a decent amount of electronic music but more the poppy stuff.
      I credit dubstep for allowing me to like weird timings and glitchy sounds. I listened to dubstep, Linkin Park, and whatever British heavy metal my dad was listening to (Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, etc...) so I think the combination makes sense that I'd arrive at this sound. There's definitely something to be said about dubstep/electronic music indirectly getting us into metal.

      @@jean-claudedeabreu6808Hendrix played a right handed guitar upside down. Cobain just played regular left handed guitars.
      What Buster is doing is no different from Hendrix. Since he’s left handed, he took a right handed guitar and flipped it upside down to learn. The only difference is that once he was able to afford custom instruments, he got the body lefty flipped so that the knobs, body contours and pickup selector are in the correct orientation.

    • @CrzyWzrd4L
      @CrzyWzrd4L 7 місяців тому +2

      Hendrix’s personal guitars were strung with the bass side on the top of the fretboard, but he regularly swapped guitars with bandmates or would grab other people’s guitars during jam sessions and would just play their guitars as-is but upside down. He’s known for doing both.
      Buster just stuck with the strings being upside down instead of learning the “correct” orientation. Also makes it easier for him to adapt to writing with other artists since he can just grab their guitar, flip it over and be immediately ready to contribute.
