Weirdly, they released a teaser of this song over a year ago. It really makes me think of their approach to song writing, because that makes me think they took over a year to finish this song.
I'm -hoping- that they released this teaser and it took so long to release because it's coming as part of an EP or something. But if not IDC, Vild deserves to take as much time as they want too.

The reason Vildhjarta is so distinctive is because their songs are all built around feeling. Sure there are time signatures and tempos and rhythms but their timing is all feeling. You can't predict what's going to happen next or when it's going to happen. The bouncyness, the groove, the bending, the waining guitar tones, it all comes together to form this orchestral style written metal music that creates a feeling and a visual image in your mind along with it. It puts you into a trance. It sits you down and makes you feel the music. The overlapping of melodies between the backing and lead with the clean atmospheric guitar parts across like 5 different octaves. They are writing the rules of the game in their own world.

Nik-o-less, you may well have introduced me to my new favourite band here! I love it when a band makes a melody or pattern that's *so obviously* a "hook" but then rather than going in the obvious direction it rug pulls you at the last second and goes off in a completely unexpected direction. Like 99% of bands would struggle not to pick the obvious note in a riff, for example. These guys go "ok, what would nobody expect here" and find the exact element that's the antithesis of a hook and somehow not only make it work, but make it better.
This part around 4:05 fucks me up so hard. It's like some superintelligent Alien race is conducting experiments on my brain to figure out how many disjoint emotions a human can feel at the same time. It's insane.

That’s probably the best way to describe the masterclass of Swedish progressive metal and the djent playing style 💀 (I consider djent a playing style of progressive metal rather than truly a genre 🤔)
100% agree with your analysis about them being 10 years ahead. When Masstaden under vatten came out I swore (and still do) that it would be one of the defining albums of the 2020's. A gaping emptiness
By death's cold bed
The shell of my former self
Lost in perceptions
Lost in perceptions
In the past
Drown me in gasoline
Let it be my grave
How they dance in front of me
My memories like smoke
Endless forms of mocking souvenirs
Perceptions
I get lost in them
Between my fingers
Beyond all control
When the future becomes distant
The past
And time a vacuum
All memories' tomb
Then drown me in gasoline
Let it be my grave
See how they dance in front of me
Like smoke
Endless forms
Perceptions
I get lost in them
The synapses sing in a choir
Flames lick me
In freedom, I am reborn
Marked by hopelessness
Broken and defeated
A fortress of disappointments
Lost souls sing
The prologue of doom
The painting
The dreaming
The lost
Who are you?
Who advocate for the existence of hope
About a day after this
Endless night
Who are you?
Wandering over the fields
The seeking crowd
Misled by promises
About soulful anesthesia
Who are you?

dont forget Daniel in vildhjarta, hes most of the brains too
Daniel is the progenitor of the music/sound & it's tragic that no one seems to know this.
How to Vildhjarta in 30 Seconds!
fuck yeah, love that youre covering this, rock on nik
This part around 4:05 fucks me up so hard. It's like some superintelligent Alien race is conducting experiments on my brain to figure out how many disjoint emotions a human can feel at the same time. It's insane.
Do You know that the half of their listeners are fans of You? I think You are litterly About to double it! Nice to see that You promote amazing good bands that are small and deserve to grow!
The way that guitar howls and roars is fucking otherworldly....
This tune took breakdowns to another level. A defo new one for me that ima 100% look more into. I’m so glad nil didn’t try and play the guitar for this. We would be sat here for hours. Feels like there is 8 trillion parts well done and the vocals are like the icing on the cake
Vildhjarta are god tier. Wherever metal goes, they'll still sound ahead of the curve
I will absolutely be blasting this in my headphones this school year
I’m still getting a grip on how incredible the new HLB record is and now this comes out? We are getting spoiled this year
That artwork looks like an edit of the map from Hades, also BANGER ALERT
-what key is the song in?
-*yes*
This was the first time i heard them and i am very impressed! This is like a metal dream, i could sleep to this.
I was Braindead after 3 minutes by how complex this song is. The i realised something that blew my mind again : this song is the modern version of "I" from Meshuggah
Vildhjarta is 10 years in the futur while being 20 years late to Meshuggah who are in fact 30 years in the futur
anyways, this is ridiculously goods, too much brain getting blew
That’s probably the best way to describe the masterclass of Swedish progressive metal and the djent playing style 💀 (I consider djent a playing style of progressive metal rather than truly a genre 🤔)
100% agree with your analysis about them being 10 years ahead. When Masstaden under vatten came out I swore (and still do) that it would be one of the defining albums of the 2020's. As an older millennial prog metal guy, they seem to check so many different boxes at once and continue what Meshuggah started, alongside Car Bomb albeit with a different vibe.
When you venture outside of 'Core for 10 seconds and realize there's great metal in every subgenre.
Imagine pretending vildjharta isnt just modern metalcore with extra steps lmfao this comment exudes pure *“Rick and morty is too deep for you to understand”* energy 😂
@@EnvisionedBlindnessthis comment is really funny, tell us you have no idea what metalcore is without telling us you have no idea what metalcore is. Vildhjarta is more progressive metal than metalcore lol
@@subsume7904not tryna start an argument but I feel like modern metalcore has way to many influences to just call it metalcore any more
@@nofacegamer21I'm not the one calling Vildhjarta metalcore lol
@@EnvisionedBlindness shh, adults are talking here. I’ll put on some djent or core so you can have a nappy, the adults can talk about black, death, doom, thrash, etc in addition to tech/prog/etc instead of making that one sliver of a genre your whole identity.
fantastic .. hope you get a Million subs soon Nik .. you bring so much enjoyable content .. always makes my day!
Huge props to Nik for popularizing Vildhjarta (and I can pronounce it correctly, haha). This band is so unique in what they're capable of while being completely underappreciated even by general metal community.
I discovered Vildhjarta in 2011 and just like Meshuggah they will be exalted in a few decades
Vildhjarta has been always been the future of metal
I've never really checked these guys out but this song has me hooked, been on repeat since it came out 🤘🤘
I’m glad this is being talked about
The fact that calle just said hes a bad guitarist on his instagram is crazy to me💀
Finally a band to carry on from Gojira as far as the "what the hell are they doing with those guitars" question goes lol.
Nik, we are all waiting for a "How to Vildhjarta in 30 seconds" AND YOU KNOW IT! hahaha
6:59 this hits so much harder when nick smacks into the table on beat
Found the band from Nik's react video to Vildhjarta a while back. This went in my top bands immediately.
I`ve been listening this track on repeat after notification from Spotify
My guys here just created the breakup!
Such an High mood but still aggressive "breakdown", It's so unique!
They created the fixup lmao
Vildhjarta reminds me of the anime "Made in Abyss" and it drags me deeper into ethereal darkness every time.
Very awesome they never fail to amaze. THALL
Vildhjarta was a band I was listening to a decade ago and hadn't heard from in years, and then I hear this amazing bit of new awesome! Hyped to hear more
Finally I see someone else talking about them! They’re beyond talented and their uniquely ominous and emotional form of progressive tech death is so cool! THALL!
the ambient breakdown thing in the middle feels like caraphernelia meets everything is quiet now
Vildhjarta is my favorite metal band. Humanity’s Last Breath too
The bends are gonna make my eyebrows pop off my head 😮
Love itb
Will always be my favourite band even when my personal tastes change
You said “circus riff” and now I want Circuscore to be a thing. Cirque du Soheavy
Chaos with nature on acid in hell. What a great way to describe this band.
you should definitely check out Hanabie.
they sure will be one of Japans biggest Metal Bands in the near future. Crystal Lakes Drummer Gaku Taura is involved in producing them and they have just been signed to a sublabel of Sony Music Japan a few months ago. at the moment they are on their first tour outside of Japan having already sold out all of their EU Tour Dates. I've been to their first show in Vienna and they're fucking amazing.
In September/October they're also touring in the US.
You should definitely check them out. All songs are really fire, but perhaps you should start with the song most people heard of them for the first time "We love sweets"
You better be jumping on the new track!
I was having a little trouble getting into this band but I’m on board with this one
Listen to mastaadens under vatten! it’s full of similar moments to most that are in this song
