Great comparison. Interestingly, the 7* has a quality to the sound that makes it a little...idk...dull? I don't really know how to describe it but I hear something that my syos mp has as well and I believed it was due to the way the plastic vibrates. However, the 8* doesn't seem to have this and sounds simply amazing. Killer mouthpiece. No wonder Chad plays that tip opening. Thanks for the video!
Link sounds much better, I tried around 15 different Syos mpc’s and didn’t like any of them, I think it’s because of the cheap plastic and that they don’t finish them after 3D printing so the tables are not flat and the reed doesn’t seal, but what do I know
The mic is a PPA LD-2 no longer made. Basically a copy of a Neumann. The Link was a 7* that Theo Wanne opened up to an 8. I bought it like that. Then I had Steve Cutcher (Philadelphia) bring it back to a 7*.
Great demo. Really showcases that “missing” element that every SYOS piece has in terms of sound. You sound much better on your usual metal piece
that may be due more to the individual mouthpieces rather than it being Syos.

The 7* is closer to your Link sound - similar edge
Sounds good
I dig your link ...
Skip, you sound wonderful on all three, but I like Skip on Skip's set up!!
Thanks Mike!
Incredible demo! Do you mind if I ask #1 what mic this is, and #2 who most recently did your Early Babbitt?

Nice. 🎷🎶🎵
You are a great musician! You play great but the Link you have sounds a lot better. Just my opinion.
