@@JamesBond-ph6hr its technically not allowed to do any performance mods at all to your bike on lams. I could do it and probably get away with it, but after buying a new bike, a car and recently moving into my first home its probably best i save some cash for it anyway :)
There's a mob in Melbourne called "Dynobike" that de-restrict these. Seems like a great choice bike for the new rider. You can ride around for the 3 years (in Victoria) on the LAMS restriction, and when you're off LAMS you can get the ECU re-flashed and the intake manifolds swapped out for $700 and pretty much end up with nearly double the horses. Like getting a whole new bike.
Just because you can de-restrict the 650R doesn't means you should. Namely because doing such comes with registration/insurance complications. Moreover it rather ruins the overall value of the bike because it's not an OEM conversion and not lawful because very few who do make that conversion ever actually spend the money to re-register the bike as being unrestricted.
@@ThermicLight I've been through this with modifying my car. There's nothing unlawful about it. Yes, you should update the LAMS status of the bike, but there's nothing illegal about modding vehicles. Where in brisbane was this
Wait, so you can't buy this and unrestricted it after you finish your Ls?
Its actually illegal to derestrict a LAMS approved bike, even if youre off you RE licence 😒 unless you have requested a manufacture representative to derestrict the bike.
Forms will need to be filled out by a dealer stating that it has been a approved for derestriction.
@@6tdegrees That's kinda insane. I don't want a super powerful bike, just something like a powerful 650.
Then I could carry it though from Ls to full. The Honda seemed like a no brainer because most of the power was in the top end so you could still learn on it.
I guess that's not an option here. I feel like I'm being forced to buy a small bike to lose money on when I sell it to get one that fits better.
Feels bad man. I'd rather have the option to buy a bike to unrestrict later and keep the bike I fell in love with riding on.
@@dragonling748 yeah its a total pain!
However (you didnt hear this from me) the aprilia RS660 LAMS only has a map restriction.
You can buy a plug in system called the UPmap and download from your phone and link via bluetooth to upload the open class map.
At anytime you choose to sell the bike, you can re-upload the restricted map.
@@6tdegrees That is one nice bike!
3:07 I'm not going to go fast on any bike outside of Germany.... Ha ha. I lived in the NT.... You're not going fast on that island.
I'm like 1.90 cm, how will be the bike for me?
I am 190-195 cm and i was pretty comfortable on this bike
Can I install a quickshifter and auto blimper in that CBR
Quickshifter yes, autoblipper I'm not sure
Doesn't have an auto blipper. Can only quick shift up the gears. Does have a slipper clutch though
Why is it small and why won't it go fast?
Ej Passeos
That’s what she said.
Can you remove the limiter after you reach full license?
No. The bike would become unroadworthy and void your insurance
@@gmakcon actually you can get it de-restricted just gotta call your dealership and they’ll do it for you
@@m.a.3137 yeh you can remove it. But the bike becomes unroadworthy. It makes no sense I know. It’s easy to do but not worth being in-insured if they find out
@@gmakcon man the road rules here are fucken dumb man honestly I thought as soon as you get your fulls you can actually get it de restricted and tell the rms but once you do that you can never go back and lose value on the bike
@@m.a.3137 yup. Sucks. Better to sell the bike and buy the unrestricted. Absolute joke! But the last thing u wanna do is ride a bike that isn’t road worthy.
