Then when it comes to the situation when he smacked her and literally obliterated a man in front of her going into such a blind rage she managed to sail off that island in the time it took him to finally wake up. This is the affects of joy and what happens when you give a person not a single bit of freedom and lock them away only for them to get a taste of it before being threatened to have it all pulled away from them.
If she truely went along with what the others wanted, and if brad had never gone after her the way he did buddy would go through some “really bad things”. Hardly freedom
@@SquatchGamingChannel I know, i was so satisfied when i watched the video! Keep going! I am waiting for some more! Can't wain until you start another game lore!
Oh, I'm well aware that no topic here will be joyful -(wait)-, but just hearing a deep narrative be put into such an easy to follow form, it makes me rather happy. Definitely helped to cheer me up. Take your time with the next parts, there's no need to rush!
Buddy is kinda horrible, she actively pushes away and manipulates Rando (Dusty), like that’s your brother! Hear him out he’s just trying to help you!! Like I get you don’t wanna be controlled by people but there’s ways of doing that, that doesn’t get people murdered or taken over the world!
To those arguing whether they like Brad or Buddy more, or how one or the other is terrible: I don't think it was the point of either game to make you like either. Both Buddy and Brad are ungrateful assholes. Brad was ungrateful for his friends, Buddy was ungrateful for Brad's protection. It seems a lot like Hotline Miami in the sense that everyone is terrible. There is no hero to this story, no matter who's side you're on. Well, except Rando I guess. But even Rando has probably killed people who didn't truly deserve it. He wouldn't be the leader of his own army if he didn't have the strength and reputation to back it up. Tl;Dr, I think the moral of both stories is just, "Shit sucks. Be a pessimistic. Olathe is just a metaphor for the real world, and Hell can't be real, because we're already in it." And that's my interpretation as an optimist. These games are 100% gloomy through and through. Honestly, unless you're a fan of being miserable and seeing gore, I don't even know why anyone would play these. I guess the humor's alright. But at the end of the day these games just left me feeling like I've been kicked in the gut.
At the first glance Brad is the monster here. But after finding out what joy did to him you realize he's not the monster. The real monster is Buddy herself.
To be fair to Buddy, she was born into a world where everyone would be out to get her whether it be sexual assault or the pressure of keeping an entire race of people alive. She's constantly been kept hidden and told what to do by Brad, who had his reasons to keep her safe but never explaining his motive and sometimes acted out of selfish desire. In that situation someone like Buddy could be tired of their life and lash out at the world in toxic ways. The world was never kind to her so she harbored a dislike and mistrust of the people in it. Her freedom was constantly being taken away from her so she'd do anything to have a semblance of control in her life. And sure killing all those people and rejecting someone who cared about her may seem ruthless but that's the kind of life she was brought into.
Yeah so Buddy is one of the most unlikable characters in the series. I hated Joyful. It was too easy, and the story sucked. The motive sucked, no reason Rando had to die . But given the first game, I guess it's fine. Just not sure how she doesn't know what adoption is, but knows what rape is? That makes no sense.
I'm there with you. I didn't enjoy Joyful as much as I enjoyed Painful, but I will admit there's a scene in Joyful that hits me with a lot emotion than anything in Painful. I think those moments where Buddy doesn't know what something is is supposed to show her naiveté and ignorance. Even though she thinks she knows everything and acts as such, there's still a lot that she doesn't know. At the same time, it shows how jacked up her upbringing has been in that she knows what rape is, but not what pacifist means. Just my two cents.
@@SquatchGamingChannel personally I think painful is not being truthful to what we see as a player. Brad's already on Joy, and I think the tragedy is he's really a terrible person. But as a player, we see his views as the hero. As one person said, everyone is the hero in their own eyes. I do like the joyful lore , and Rando is too pure for the world. But as a whole, I really enjoyed Brad's self torment more than Buddy's genocidal rage, lol.
I agree with you there! I think that's one of major themes of Painful. I mean, there are moments that show that Brad could be a good person, like when he saves Terry and stuff, but on the whole, he's not exactly a stand up guy. Lol.
How did buddy go from getting kidnapped and knocked out to a murder machine, not to mention so naive she was seemingly fine with said constant kiddpapping to whatever joyful was.
I actually think it was Rick not Sticky for two reasons, Rick's already injured when Brad confronts him, and Buddy hallucinates Rick with a bandaged face near the end of this game. Which she shouldn't have seen unless she saw him again after Brad's confrontation. Plus it'd tie back to Lisa: The First's "Tricky Rick"
@@SquatchGamingChannel The whole touching her thing, I think Rick tried it, Sticky stopped him and feeling like she'd be victimized again unless she knew, Sticky explained to her the birds and the bees. My reasoning is that she doesn't really have a reason to defend him at that point, and Rick's never really brought up. I was kinda hoping the DLC would have also covered Rick Sticky and Buddy's adventures during Painful but maybe that'd explain too much. Since a lotta people feel this one did already.
Ok I have a question. WHERE THE FUCK ARE THE OTHER COUNTRIES????????? Olathe can’t be the only country in the world. Sure sometimes people call Olathe the world but that’s more metaphorical. Where are the tourists, shouldn’t the government notice that there seems to be a lot of deaths in this specific country? Has no mutant EVER passed the border to other countries or died in the ocean after getting sweeped into the current and washed up on a beach in a different country? No one in the rest of the world seem to know what’s happening. Actually is the rest of the world like this? We haven’t heard about any other countries in this series of games. And we also didn’t hear about Joy manufacturing factory’s in other countries so it’s probably all made in Olathe. Like how has no one found out about this? I get that the rest of the world got flashed so no girls and their in chaos too but I doubt they would let go of all technology like planes and trains and travelling. In fact I think travelling would increase to ignore the fate of humanity.
I found Lisa the joyful from a crossover animation between undertale and Lisa the joyful called interlopers. I'm glad I did, cuz this game is a hidden gem
I did the same. If you have finished discovering everything about the LISA series on the games, you could give a look at the art. There is plenty of talented pictures that revives the feeling about what these games represent. Sadness, blood, discoverings, etc.
Rando Is the faith left in humanity. Buddy understands that control equals power. Buddy wants to control everything. So they can have power and dominion over the world. And they can make it the way they wanted to or so they think. You can take things from a man and try to make them the way you want them to be, but you cant change someone. They have to change themselves.
Thanks, man! But if I ever start slacking, I need you to let me know! You've got to hold me accountable! I really do appreciate the thought, dude! Thanks so much, and thanks for watching! :)

Exactly! I remember the feeling I had when I saw Dusty with his mutilated face in the Painful ending. It blew me away, and made the fight against Rando so much sadder...
Lol. Sounds like a good problem to have! ;) I'm working on the next part now, and I'm trying to get it finished as quickly (while maintaining the quality) as possible! Sorry for the wait!
Audacity. After I record, I use the "Noise Removal" (or its equivalent) to take out some of the static from the mic, and then hit it with a Compressor. The gain is usually turned up a bit from that, and from the explosiveness of the sound, the compressor probably doesn't get enough time to attack it to reduce it, so it's probably a result from that. Lol. Or I might be waaayyy off base, and it might be nothing like that! I'm no Audio Engineer! Lol. What effect are you referring to?
@@SquatchGamingChannel The polosive noises are all going to be around the 50 frequency area, below regular human voice. If you were to just cut that straight out with an FFT Filter around the problem areas, it would fix the issue
Someone's done their homework while I haven't. Lol. Awesome, dude. I'll have to play around with that when I get a chance and see how it goes. Would I be able to use the Filter to hit the entire thing and it would only hit the problem areas, or would I have to go in manually and hit the Ps and Bs myself?
Awesome to hear that, man! Thank you very much! I'm sure I'll get there eventually. Just have to keep working hard and doing the best I can! Thanks for the support! :)
You know at least *this* one actually showed *Brad* doing things that messed Buddy up, and not just Buddy making the same stupid choice over and over and blaming Brad for it each time.
Brad was so obsessed with protecting Buddy's childlike innocence, always saying "she's just a kid" in LISA: The Painful, he inadvertently ended up being the one who corrupted her and turned Buddy into a monster. He really did end up hurting her the most, mentally at least. Though the flashback with the tied up man implied he had her fight full grown men to the death, in a controlled environment, probably only stepping in if it looked like she was close to being killed by the scared and desperate prisoners beating and bashing at her. So physically too.
He didn t hurt her at all he taught her valuable survival skills to kill It s like ur parent never teaching u to speak or communicate Brad did everything he could to protect her but due to his addiction he didn t see what was he doing wrong But buddy is just a teenage bitch she hated a man who given up everything for her

In Lisa the Painful: you’re fighting against monsters
In Lisa the Joyful: You are the monster.
After some rage quit, a good youtuber uploads. I can finally relax.
Nice, man! Perfect timing! I hope you enjoy and it helps you wind down!
@@SquatchGamingChannel I know, i was so satisfied when i watched the video! Keep going! I am waiting for some more! Can't wain until you start another game lore!
I watch these in bulk when they're all done, but wanted to stop buy to register my interest and compliments.
Alright, cool. Hopefully the next part will be done in about 2 weeks or so. Hope you enjoy when it comes out, man!
This is great, looking forward to part 2
Thanks a lot, man! Hopefully will be out in a couple weeks!
Joyful is suppose to be more about the story, less of the gameplay I presume. You think so?
Uhh... I mean... I guess? Now that you mention it, the gameplay is pretty barebones, especially for an RPG. Yeah, I would say you're right!
@@SquatchGamingChannel The ways the gameplay changes for suiting the story at least keeps you in the feel of the character. ;p
I'll agree with you there, the gameplay shift does fit the story and themes of Joyful very well!
not that it’s horrible.
It's like a 4/6 ratio
Recent days really haven't been great for me, so I'm very glad to see this popping up in my notifications.
Can't wait for part 2!
I know it doesn't have the happiest of subjects, but hopefully it cheered you up in a way.
Hopefully, that'll be done in a couple weeks!
Oh, I'm well aware that no topic here will be joyful -(wait)-, but just hearing a deep narrative be put into such an easy to follow form, it makes me rather happy. Definitely helped to cheer me up.
Take your time with the next parts, there's no need to rush!
Thanks, man! Hopefully, I can do the end of this game justice... It gets quite emotional during one part. Lol.
Aw poor rando
Yes. He's had a painful life...
@@SquatchGamingChannel yep
Buddy is kinda horrible, she actively pushes away and manipulates Rando (Dusty), like that’s your brother! Hear him out he’s just trying to help you!! Like I get you don’t wanna be controlled by people but there’s ways of doing that, that doesn’t get people murdered or taken over the world!
5:42 STAHP!
;)
Man i Think she only does this because she took some Joy as in the last chapter you could see Joy next to her in the end
I legit feel the power in your voice..it's moving.
Olathe is just a metaphor for the real world, and Hell can't be real, because we're already in it."
And that's my interpretation as an optimist. These games are 100% gloomy through and through. Honestly, unless you're a fan of being miserable and seeing gore, I don't even know why anyone would play these. I guess the humor's alright. But at the end of the day these games just left me feeling like I've been kicked in the gut.
very true, slay monarch
At the first glance Brad is the monster here. But after finding out what joy did to him you realize he's not the monster. The real monster is Buddy herself.
"Brad's not a monster because he used joy"
"Buddy's a monster because she used joy"
????
Matea Banana Buddy is a monster because she’s an asshole.
@@mateabanana3506 quite the opposite, brads mind was augmented by joy while buddy was just an asshole
The saddest part is she is a monster because of Brad
Dude your such a good narrator I feel like I’m watching a movie!
Thanks, man. Part of what I'm aiming to do! :)
Dispite Lisa being the most evil character, i will still hate buddy for how she acted towards her own brother
Beautifully made like always Squatch. Looking forward to pt. 2
Thanks, man! Happy to hear you enjoyed!
Part two will take a couple weeks, but I promise I'm working on it!
I'd say that at the end of the day Buddy is better than Brad. Brad never learned how to cope with his abusive dad, Buddy did.
Rick not Sticky for what...? Lol.
I liked joyful whats wrong with her....ya she killed pacifist.
She was going genocide route
Tara Nolte now she has to fight the secret boss, sans

@@deeznuts-kw6yv what sans? That dust in the back?

I could easily see Lisa the painful and Lisa the joyful becoming an anime series.
They're all dead. Olathe is all that's left.
Nice work, as always!
Thank you very much! Happy to hear you enjoyed! :)
Nice job , keep it up!

Didn't expected a new video so fast!
Why not? It's been about two weeks since the last Lisa video! Lol.
@@SquatchGamingChannel It's still impressive to write a script, read it, record the gamplay and edit it all. Totally worth the effort
Lol. Yeah, true. It's a lot of hard work. It all pays off though! :)

I liked the dlc but the only problem I had with it was how they presented the answers they were more straight forward rather than subtle still good dlc
One of my main complaints as well. I like it when there's still a bit of mystery to the story.

@@SquatchGamingChannel No worries, take your time dude. This stuff's hard work. Good luck.
Thanks, man! :)
Dusty was a a bit obvious
How did this child get a large vocabulary?
What program do you use to edit your audio? I know a good audio effect that can help you with those occasional 'plosive P noises.
@@SquatchGamingChannel I bet you could just hit the whole thing and the only difference you'd hear is less harsh P and B noises.

Damn, when the fuck did Buddy become a badass?
I mean, grim story and all, but shit. She's kickin ass.
She picked up a sword after waking up to a joy mutant Brad get taken away and chose
*Violence*

Great stuff! Keep it up!
Thanks a lot! I'm trying my best! :)
Thanks for watching!
He didn t hurt her at all he taught her valuable survival skills to kill
It s like ur parent never teaching u to speak or communicate
Brad did everything he could to protect her but due to his addiction he didn t see what was he doing wrong
But buddy is just a teenage bitch she hated a man who given up everything for her

Are you going to make videos on the "Hopeful" and "Pointless" fangames as well?
Thank you! Happy to hear you're enjoying everything!
I've thought about it, but I'm not really sure yet. The plan for now is story summaries for the Painful and Joyful, then I'll be making "Biography videos" (what I call em, they're probably more "lore videos") for most of the characters between these two games. After I'm finished with those, I'm going to assess some things before deciding if I'll do the fan games, or if I'll be moving to a new series.
Thanks for watching, by the way! I appreciate it!
