I was doing similar this weekend at fort fisher but I was using 2 ounce weight. Caught 14 reds. 1 huge one got off right at the shore. One broke my braid. Maybe oyster shells. Caught a nice 20" black drum and 2 huge rays too. Was using cut croaker and pinfish.
We caught a 30 inch trout about a month and half ago using this exact technique with cut pinfish. This is a great way for anglers of all experience levels and ages to catch fish
LOVE FISHING THE BLUE TAILS. MOST OF MY FISHING IS IN SOUTHWEST LA. SIGHT FISHING IN SKINNY WATER. WHEN THE SIGHT FISHING DOES NOT HAPPEN, I AGREE WITH THE CUT BAIT ALONG WITH DEAD SHRIMP ON THE BOTTOM. ENJOYED THE VIDEO. THANKS!
My brother and I were throwing zmans, all kinds of colors paddle tales and all kinds of other artificial bait at these reds one morning they were EVERYWHERE and didn’t get spooked easily. After 2hrs I throw cut ladyfish and got hooked up FAST!
I need some help catching this darn red fish. I'm in Melbourne Florida and fished these waters 6 years and never got a red😞 I do not have a kyak i fish off land..any advice??
4:31 How did you know they were there, as in how did you see them? They seem way too far away to see a school of them in the water even with polarized glasses
The single most important tip for catching redfish on cut bait is cast the bait out near a red fish. If you do, there’s a high likelihood, you will catch a red, if you don’t then highly unlikely that you will. When I began fishing Apalachee Bay in the mid-1950s, cut mullet was the only bait we used for a few years. Always been good.
You don’t explain how to find the fish that you’re talking about in the end. How did you know there was fish there? I’m trying figure out what I’m doing wrong

Wade fishing is an excellent way to get on a bite. You can cover water more methodically than a boat or kayak and often can get closer to fish without spooking them as opposed to boat fishing. Look for spots with moving water and bait - you'll find the fish!

Yes, pinfish is my preferred cut bait!
I don't know why they love it so much but it always seems to preform very well for me.

Awesome, thank you!
What rod power ? Nice catch
Nice fish and instruction!
How about using a bobber with 2 foot drop to cut bait? And with another rod cast around with a paddle tail.
Beautiful fish. Thanks for the advice.
You're welcome!
Another great video Tony. Keep 'em comin.
How far is your cast; @3:47? average long cast? Thanks for all!

Circle hooks work better if you snell them.
Appreciate the content sir. Very helpful.
Great video! Appreciate the tips and advice.
Glad it was helpful!
Do you prefer cut bait over artificial? I get mixed results.
Great tips--thanks!
Thank you Tony! What brand is your kayak and the model? I see it in your videos… very nice👍
How long do you let a fish run with your bait before you set the hook?
When fishing with circle hooks when the rod tip is pulled down for 2-3 seconds then reel until the rod is fully loaded and then fight the fish

You can usually see movement on the water...a wake from the fish swimming around.

not far from me
What rod was that in the first clip?
What bait is best to catch reds in freshwater?
You could try some different artificials. Any regular redfish lure or bait would work.

Hell yes I'll cut one but I love putting a live one a pole good size that way I know if that pole gets hit I got a big one.
Yep! Good chance of it!
Do the fish see Fluor in murky water?

fishing sucks without a boat or kayak. i went fishing today again and have not caught nothing again. ugh.
Same here, but try fishing bridges and piers. Remember, any day on the water is a Good Day!

I like turtles 🐢
Me too. The taste is similar to pork chops. Leatherbacks are probably the best with loggerheads a close second.
@@Hisslave1 They make good target practice as well.
I like lollipops
