      I'm assuming you're referring to the starters for both teams, in this case being Isaac Bruce, Tory Holt, Randy Moss and Cris Carter, in which case I'd have to disagree with the "easily" the greatest collection distinction. While you might be correct that cumulatively that four are the best, it certainly isn't a foregone conclusion either. Off the top of my head, the quartet of Swann, Stallworth, Branch, and Biletnikoff is pretty hard to top, and I think one can make a case for the best quartet of starting WR's on the same field being Jerry Rice, John Taylor, Art Monk, and Gary Clark. I'm sure we could come up with a least a dozen other really strong contenders through the years. Also, what is the measurement? Is it for the same season they all had in the year of the game they played, or is it retrospectively of their entire careers?

    As a 49ers fan this year was a nightmare. We had killed the Rams like 17 STRAIGHT TIMES from 1991 to 1998. Then 1999 happened. We lost Steve Young in week 3, and by week 5 the Rams were in full force. The glory days had officially faded.
    That being said, much respect to that three year from the Rams had from 1999 to 2001. Personally I think it's the best stretch in that time for an offense I'd ever seen. Even compared to some of the years the 49ers had together in the 80s and 90s. Too bad we didn't get a Rams/Ravens Super Bowl in 2000.

      Wasn't about the Vikings. No doubt they were a powerhouse. But the Rams of the era were almost unfairly assembled and as a Rams fan, it was incredible. The Moe Williams fumble on the kickoff too. I loved that dude later in his career as the workhorse goal line/3rd down/do-it-all back but that fumble was brutal. I have no doubt they could have easily scored on that drive and I feel like the pressure would have been on the Rams to score if they were up 28-24. The Vikes defense was playing well at the end of the first half, they just got super tired when they were on the field for what felt like the whole third quarter. I remember watching this as a die-hard 11 year old Vikings fan and still thinking they had a chance when they were down by 4 touchdowns.

Then this team just started slaughtering everybody and people were like “what??” Even Sports Illustrated had an issue with Warner on the cover that said “Who is this guy?” Lol. On top of that they played the Oilers who just became the Titans that year in the Super Bowl. What a wacky season.

      It was preseason week 3, and it was a real heartbreaker. The Rams had been drafting very well for a few years, but had been comically bad at QB and RB so it didn't matter. The Marshall Faulk trade and the Trent Green signing meant that the Rams could finally be a real threat, only for Green to go down in the preseason on a late, dirty hit by Rodney Harrison. Mike Martz (OC) persuaded Dick Vermeil to stick with backup Warner, and the rest as they say is history.
      I do remember Paul Zimmerman from Sports Illustrated with a brief end-of-preseason note that Kurt Warner was looking fine taking all the first-team reps, but other than that he was not on anyone's radar going into the year. Most people had "well, hope he can be better than Tony Banks" as his ceiling.

    Indianapolis traded away prime Marshall Faulk for a 2nd and 5th round pick. As good as Edgerrin James was, imagine if Peyton Manning had Harrison and Faulk as his primary weapons from 1999-2002 or so.

      lol that wouldnt have changed anything. Edgerrin James had 1500 yards and 13 TDs in 99 and 1700 yards and 13 TDs in 2000. Manning always had a stacked offense. There’s a reason he’s known as a choker

    • @king_supreme1102
      @king_supreme1102 3 роки тому +5

      Honestly, Faulk was great, but I’m not upset with it at all. The only sad part is that they didn’t get more in that trade for him. James was a terrific replacement for Faulk, if they could’ve gotten at least a first round pick that could’ve turned into a big time player. Either way, I think the colts were better off with James. I think he was a better fit on the colts and Faulk was a better fit on the rams. Plus James’ prime outlasted Faulk’s by a good bit so, I think it turned out the best way it could’ve for both running backs.
