Giants fan here. One of the thrills of my life. However I could definitely understand the pain for Pats fans even though they had won 3 rings by then. I thought of it like this. As a kid, I used to play Madden and later NFL Quarterback Club, NFL Blitz etc. How many of us as kids would play a full NFL season with our team and try to go undefeated and win the Super Bowl? And if you appear to be losing one game, what do you do? You reset the game. You hope it doesn't come to that, but if it gets too close, you likely will do that before the CPU saves your one loss. If you get to the Super Bowl undefeated and you lose a close game in the final seconds and for whatever reason, you can't hit reset fast enough and can't reverse it, think of all the time, effort and work you put into making this dream a reality all ruined. I'd be absolutely beside myself. Now raise the stakes. Make it your favorite team actually doing this in real life. You've watched every minute of every game in absolute awe of their greatness. It's Brady to Moss, the greatest QB ever to the greatest WR ever, breaking records left and right, with a killer defense. Several of their regular season victories (Colts, Ravens, Eagles, Giants) were quite inspiring and appeared to show they had the toughness to overcome anything. And have them lose the Super Bowl in the final minute. They had the Giants down to a 4th down and 1, down to several near INTs, a near 4th and long if Eli gets sacked on the Tyree play, a 3rd and 11, and a near Randy Moss deep ball that would have saved the day. It was all so tantalizingly close to happening. And there's NO RESET BUTTON. You have to just swallow that forever. Greatest team ever, for what? I'd lose my damn mind.

That Div playoff is an underrated Brady performance: 26-28?!?/3 TD/262 yds/141 PR/0 INT's....it would have been 27-28 but Welker dropped the last pass that hit him right in the numbers. What a year of football that was.
As a patriot fan I still think about this season fondly despite how it ended. However I wasn’t comfortable going into that Super Bowl. Patriots toward the end of the season didn’t seem right offensively and it showed in the playoffs.
I completely agree, looking back on it the last 2-3 weeks of the regular season and the two previous playoff games they looked very out of sorts, I mean the defense was still playing pretty well but overall something was different. I’m not sure whether it was the league finally catching up to them or something else but they weren’t the same team offensively speaking!! I still can’t bring myself to watch that super bowl. I can deal with the loss to the Eagles but losing two super bowls to the Giants and BOTH ON FLUKE CATCHES FROM NOBODIES ESPECIALLY THE “Helmet catch” just kills me!! The only drawback I can think of was that they weren't quite as strong defensively as the 01-04 teams (let's assume Ty Law would have been covering Plaxico Burress if the stars lined up differently). The O-line was one of the best I've ever seen, which is why I was shocked at what my Giants were able to do to them in the Super Bowl. While that game will live forever as the Giants franchise's greatest moment, I felt genuinely bad for the Pats, just imagining the feeling of working that hard all year, only to come away losing the big one. They were absolutely in position to be considered the greatest team for a single season in NFL history, and could still be argued as having been that.
Im from New hampshire, i even made it to a game during the season. There was nothing like this year for any team, never will be. So many beers were crushed due to this seasons victories and the loss. It was absolutely incredible to see this season first hand every game.

I'd say that the Patriots played at a higher level than has ever been seen in the NFL for at least the first half of the season. The fact that they didn't get that final win may be the saddest season ending ever when you think about it, when you get into the mindset of a patriots fan, imagine watching that, i dont root for either team but it's kinda sad tom will probably never get his perfect season
Pats may not have gone undefeated after this season.. but they’re still the only NFL franchise to have completed a 16-game regular season undefeated, AND the only team to reach a record of 18-0 (something not even the ‘72 dolphins achieved 😮)
I really do believe the pressure of a potential undefeated season weighed down on that team. They vanquished with relative ease some really good teams along the way. But everyone could see how much they struggled against many of their opponents in their last 9 games or so (postseason included), some of which were the lesser teams on their schedule. Just one loss would've eased the burden, in my view. I think there were even reports of this fact afterwards. Now, that's not to discredit, for example, the Giants. (They matched up well against the Patriots--and football is predominantly about how teams match up against each other.) It's just to acknowledge the reality that the mental makeup of the team was not as... robust as it could've been without the additional pressure of being in such unprecedented standing.
I’m a die hard packers fan but I’ve always respected Brady and billichick to the Max. This is definitely my favorite non packer team of all time. Just a roster full of legends. Ik they lost the SB but imo no doubt the greatest team to ever take the field

It’s amazing to see that Brady is still playing today and this vid was from 14 years ago from today and Brady now is playing on the bucs and nobody on this patriots roster from 2007 is playing anymore
Top 5 team All-time in NFL's 100 Year History, no doubt. Such a shame all the bad luck in the most important game of the season. 18-1 is the same record as the 84' Niners and 85' Bears. Not bad company is it.
It gets even better, just before that play, they barely didn't stop Eli Manning on Third, and, Short, and, narrowly missed forcing a fumble, and, after this play, was, The Helmet Catch.
One of the toughest schedules to ever even go 18-0. The teams that were played against were freaking stacked aside a couple. No one was expecting them to go undefeated until the super bowl. Still is the worse sadness ever to end the season 18-1.
Yeah, the chargers and colts whom they struggled to before this games were hard games. For the chargers, you know they were hungry after that stunning divisional round upset. Then the nfc east. All those teams finished at least at .500 that year. The afc north was also pretty tough too.

Same. I cried like b!tch
07 Pats and 16 Warriors are the greatest teams I've ever watched in their sport and they couldn't close it out.

As a patriot fan I still think about this season fondly despite how it ended. However I wasn’t comfortable going into that Super Bowl. Patriots toward the end of the season didn’t seem right offensively and it showed in the playoffs.
At least we didnt go out like the packers 15-1 then 0-1 lol
I completely agree, looking back on it the last 2-3 weeks of the regular season and the two previous playoff games they looked very out of sorts, I mean the defense was still playing pretty well but overall something was different. I’m not sure whether it was the league finally catching up to them or something else but they weren’t the same team offensively speaking!! I still can’t bring myself to watch that super bowl. Absolutely incredible that for all the great teams they had, this was definitely the best.
First time watching Brady and the Pats live was that season in Buffalo. Moss and Brady put on an absolute clinic!

In SB 25, Ted Marchibroda called a TO, as a result, the Bills had none, and, Thurman Thomas had to run out of bounds much sooner than he wanted, we all know what happened.
The timeout was actually illegal, an assistant coach is not allowed to call timeout, but the officials, looking at the field, didn’t realize it was Rex walking up to him and not Billick

It's just to acknowledge the reality that the mental makeup of the team was not as... robust as it could've been without the additional pressure of being in such unprecedented standing.
