    That's so crazy how you made it look so easy with a ziptie on for the ac pulley ,when I've seen other videos that used special tool that took longer ...this by far the best video. Thanks

    Excellent video! I would imagine the concept is the same for a 2018 5.0 engine. I’m definitely replacing mine next weekend!

    Very informative video. Been watching all of these belt videos. This is the best of them all, “basically”!!

    I just did mine yesterday on a 2012 eco. Put the ac belt on and apparently it wasn't completely in the ac Compressor grooves. Did a test drive and the new belt completely shredded. Bought another belt and used 5 zip ties to secure it as I slowly turned the crank with a swivel head 18 inch ratchet. It is a beast to turn the crank while the belt is being stretched. The longer the ratchet, the better.

    The zip worked very well, thx for the tip, be sure to watch the AC wheel since it might slip off while turning the main engine pulley.

      That happened to me. I didn't know what to do because I couldn't push it on or pull it off and I didn't want to cut off a brand new belt. I wedged a zip tie in between the belt and the ac pulley at the bottom and kept turning the crank pulley in hopes it would come off and I could try again. Instead, it actually guided the belt on. Victory.

    Thank you for sharing the video. Does the truck need to be put in neutral for the crank pulley to be able to rotate?

    • @TheEnthusiastMechanic
      @TheEnthusiastMechanic  2 роки тому +2

      You're welcome no it doesn't just make sure you turn it the correct way when you rotate the pulley.

    Do you have video of the idler pulley being taken off and new one installed?

    • @TheEnthusiastMechanic
      @TheEnthusiastMechanic  Рік тому +1

      I don’t unfortunately, but the idler pulley just has a bolt in the middle. Usually you just unscrew it take out and put on the new one and tighten it back up.

    My ac belt looks different. I think I have a tensioner on this one too. Any tips?

    • @TheEnthusiastMechanic
      @TheEnthusiastMechanic  2 роки тому

      If you have a Tensioner then luckily you don't have a stretch belt just use the tensioner to remove and install the belt its way easier

    Can I drive my truck with the AC belt removed? I know the AC will not work but I need a few days before the mechanic can get to it.

    I spent 3+ hrs trying to get that AC belt on. Nothing worked. It kept slipping off the AC pulley. I just gave up so no AC now.

      Dan try putting the ac belt behind the crank pulley vs. in front as you are walking it on using this method. It has to stretch less in that scenario and it’s also more in line with the ac compressor pulley vs in front where it has to walk past the serpentine portion of the crank pulley. Hope this makes sense and that you get that belt on soon.

      @@bigpicturethinking5620 That's what the ford service manual says, but on mine there isn't enough room between the crank pulley and the engine block. The belt doesn't fit behind. Any advice? Mine keeps popping off of the AC pulley too. I've spent a couple ours on this so far and am about to just bring it to a shop.

      @@russelltrahan5865 I now do it as shown in the video. It works for me and only took a minute for me to get mine on. Keep at it and take breaks. You’ll get it.

    Just so everyone knows this may not be a one time, two time try to get this to stretch over. It’s an absolute pain in the ass and a wonder why no one on UA-cam has a vid showing from start to finish they just skip to when it’s finished. This fuckin belt will snap off almost every time trying to get it on doesn’t matter if you use a zip tie or not. Snapped off 4-5 times first try for me and I ended up having to literally walk snap tie this shit finally using 3 heavy duty 30” zip ties with a tensioner I finally got it after like 90 minutes in the blazing sun.

    • @TheEnthusiastMechanic
      @TheEnthusiastMechanic  Рік тому

      Yes they are difficult and if you do them a few times you can get them done quick
