6:50 Help Lil Linfamy level up
UA-cam literally hid ads that would lead to this video... Just sayin
You forgot to mention that Ryomen Sukuna was whooping everyone at that time.
Lobotamy Kaisen.😭
Lol
Thanks to you, I will never hear the name "Fujiwara" without thinking "who famously married their daughters into the Imperial family, which gave them power over the court for 200 years". Kind of like how certain phrases trigger my stock of Monty Python lines.
😈
"Ahh yes, my Anti-Love technique, haven't used this one since the Heian Era"
- Sukuna (While fighting Rika and Yuta)
At least they were doing something constructive instead of blowing off all their money on drugs
I assume drugs and alcohol were popular too :p
Linfamy But - was it consumed artistically?
Carlos C I'd like to think they composed kickass poems afterward
@@Linfamy Well sure, what else are you going to do blitzed out on opium -keep an eye on a growing military class? Tch
Carlos C Oh those guys with all the weapons? I'm sure they wouldn't bother us **puffs**
A cup of coffee, buttered toast, sitting on my back patio in the morning before the sun rises and watching you video and commentary. It doesn’t get better then this. Thank you for seven minutes of peace in this screwed up world. Aloha.
That sounds serene. Must be a nice view there in Hawaii. Aloha.
Tell more locals about this channel. You know they'd love this
Amaterasu shirt is exactly what I wanted. *adds to wish list*
Woohoo!
People are going to ask you what anime it's from, and you'll have to admit you're an even bigger nerd than they already thought. Not only do you watch cartoons, but cartoons about history. :P
Haha embrace the Nerd
As the Heian Era came closer to its middle period, Kenjaku asked Sukuna; “Who would win? You or the JuJutsu Sorcerers?” Sukuna replied; “Well, if I didn’t have supreme power I would have a hard time.” Kenjaku replied; “But would you win?” Sukuna said; “Nah. I’d win.” As Kenjaku smiled and used his domain expansion, Sukuna used his domain amplification and survived the attack. Kenjaku was confused and said “What happened?”. Sukuna said; “Stand proud, you are strong. But you missed two key things; Always count on me on defeating JuJutsu sorcerers and second..” Sukuna said dramatically. “Throughout the Heian Era and the Middle Ages… I alone am the king of curses.”
LOBOTOMY KAISEN 🔥
I watched this video way back even before i knew what jjk was after gege mentioned Heian era my mind immediately remembered this particular video
I watched this video for the same reason. To know what the Heian period meant because both Sukuna and Muzan were born in it.
I love the Heian Period. So much culture! I love the poetry from this period. I'm also fascinated by the roles women played in court. They didn't have control over their own lives, but they did have a kind of power. They had a kind of voice. Thanks for sharing!
Yeah courtly life is interesting, with all its rules and customs
Ah yes my anti-Heian period comment I haven't used it since the Heian period
Linfamy notification. Intense anticipation quenched. All the excitement. Much watching now.
:D
4:37 This month’s special effects budget. What do you think?
+Linfamy its neat 👍
🤣
Noice
I was actually wondering who the bard with the Mohawk, and the silhouetted Bakeneko in the crowd at 4:27 are? The other thing I thought at 5:22 " Context is Everything, I reckon that John Adams would consider that Disbanding the Army can be both a ****** Trick as well as a Genius Decision! :) "
OLDCONTEMPTABLE mohawk bard is no one. I wanted to draw a rock star bard so I gave him a mohawk :D. Silhouettes are just the crowd listening to him, I thought it would be cute to have someone with ears.
Oh noo, now you know my inner thoughts.
I find it strange how 9 hours after this was posted, I was looking for Heian Japanese videos, and found one from a channel I haven't seen in a while. :3
It's a government conspiracy, I'm not supposed to tell you. And welcome back!
"Hire a samurai...."
correction: only rich people who can afford to hire a samurai hired samurai
poor people who can't afford to hire a samurai did not hire samurai
You forgot to mention that Muzan became a demon during this period.
Dont firget sukuna
Imagine how differently Japan would’ve evolved had it not been so geographically isolated from the rest of the world.
That's because the rest of Asia didn't really have a navy back then, that's why, like being isolated in Europe like Japan, the British Isles were still getting foreign invasions since the Romans and Vikings had Navies.
Would've been like korea
okay can I just say your channel is a lifesaver? I did a presentation on the Heian Period for an assignment, and your videos made it fun and easier to understand! (I even snuck a little reference to your channel in it lol) And even better, I got full marks! Thank you!
Hell yeah, good job on the presentation :)
Was the reference "the Fugiwara, who famously married their daughters into the imperial family, allowing them control of the Heian court for over 200 years"?
@@palinanavitskaya6133 yes. yes it was :>
Im here after watching JJK😂
you're not the only one 😂
Lobotamy Kaisen strikes again.😭
Jujutsu kaisen fans will devoured all the comment section in the future 😂
Fraudkuna
Yes 😂
The lobotomy will never end
Excellent Heian Period, reminds me of Fujiwara Sai, the legendary Go player in "Hikaru no Go".
;)
Damn I really miss that show
Imperial Court: The only fighting we have here is between us highborns, what do we need an army for, let's disband it, what could possibly go wrong?
*Disbands army*
Samurai: If you are reading this, omae wa mō shindeiru.
Imperial Court: Nani?!
Can't remember where I heard this but I think Buddha ears are like that because in Chinese physiognomy, huge earlobes are a sign of good luck and longevity
yayyy have been waiting for the genpei war since I started to follow you ! awesome to know that it is coming soon !
Apparently other people are excited for the genpei war too, hope I do it justice. It'll be a multi-parter for sure.
It’s really nice that you read your comments
:D
This vid was great! As always, 12/10 on the artwork!!
As an Asian, I appreciate you giving me 2 points extra credit 😅
Man japan is so lucky. Whenever they had major civil wars back in the day there was never any outside forces that tried to invade
No one tried to go and "help". Which is great.
This is a dope channel. I love history and learning about Japanese history is awesome. You do a great job make it interesting
Another great video!
You guys are GREAT! Your sense of humor is priceless in presenting a really important history of the beautiful and powerful Japanese people. We in the West know so little. Most of us are children when it comes to knowledge about the incredible history of our brothers across the ocean. May we come together in understanding, respect, peace, and harmony. Thank you for all you do for all of us.
Another great vid, very interesting period
Yeah a lot of change in this period
Yaaaas! New era, new video! 🙌
🕺
Its interesting, in popular culture it's taken as a given that the imperial family wielded absolute power before the shogunate, but you've shown that it's more a evolution of the previous control exerted over the imperial family by various noble families since it's inception.
I don't think the emperor ever wielded "absolute" power, the court was mostly dominated by various powerful clans. But there were times like at the beginning of the Heian Period where the emperor was the dominant force.
Interesting as always
Whered sukuna?
He forgot sukuna
Nice body of work you've built up here. Top notch
"Federal taxes"
That's a bit odd terminology for Heian Japan.
I love your videos!
Thank you ;)
"The samurai are coming! The samurai are coming!" - Poru Rebiru
Poru Reviru 🤣
I was just about to be pedantic and say Poru Rebiru, and then you went ahead and edited your post 😅
@@Linfamy I looked it up, and the official transcription is "Pōru Ribia" (ポール リビア). Which means he's probably related to ゲラルト オブ リビア. ;)
Ah, Witcher reference ;)
Yay Genpei War!
Yay death and destruction! ;)
I was waiting for this arc.
Dude your channel is dope
"and crashed as hard as a tesla does it" had me there
Gr8 video again
Arigato
The anime Shounen Onmyouji introduced me to Heian Period.
Abe Seimei was during the Heian
I love to hear the stories about him. Like how his mother was a kitsune. I love the literature from this period.
Is there a difference between abe no seimei and just abe seimei?
You are blowin up the numbas
Would love to see more Japanese folk tale videos on your channel
Oh theys a-coming
Will you talk about the Ryukyu Kingdom eventualy?
If not do you have any advice in where tô find some information about that culture?
Thanks for the awesome content.
I will, but it may be far in the future. I haven't researched about it much.
But I thought Koken came up with the idea of abdicating and then ruling as ex-empress, did it arise multiple times?
After the Nara empresses, control fell back to the emperors. Then the Heian emperors decided it was a good idea, I'll go over why in a later video. The Heian emperors actually made structural changes that helped them retain power in "retirement."
You ever thought of adding Himiko merch? My daughter was looking for one lol. She loves the animation
Haha sure, give me a week or so. I can use her image that you see in the thumbnail of the Himiko video. Unless you have other suggestions ;)
Done: teespring.com/queen-himiko1
Can you make another or full story about the genpei war to sengoku jidai? I really like this channel and on my way to watch all your video
Will take a while for Sengoku, but Genpei war should be soon maybe..
Great!
Yay!
TL;DR: If you won't fight for yourself, nobody will.
I like it
I wish I wasn't so poor right now.
You make me laugh every day; thank you!
Glad you like the vids :D
Love the video's. Will you ever branch out to other cultures?
You forgot to mention that the Kibutshuji, known as Muzan, became a demon during this period and it is where the demons come from.
Also forgot to mention how Cursed Sorcery entered it’s Golden Era because everyone was trying to kill this Ryomen Sukuna guy…
Knowledge knowledge knowledge
One Hot Potato to Rule them all.
"You gotta throw the potato in the lava, Frodo"
"NO it's MY POTATO"
Hey maybe you’ve already said this but any suggestions on good books about early Japanese history? It’s so hard to find good ones.
Me when a history book spends half of their Heian section talking about Samurai
*When they are mentioned once in the Tale of Genji*
This was also the period where Sorcery entered a Golden age i believe
Linfamy teaches me more interesting history than school has ever taught me and im in for the jokes and puns😫 Please consider training teachers to teach more like you
Could we have a video on the japenese bards ? They look soo cool.
Age of Arts > Thumbnail Features Good Old style execution :)
I love history; the best artistic form of expression is combat to death :D
Killing can be called an art :p
@@Linfamy by assasins/hashashin/ninja :D
Haha
Can you do videos on the Clans? Ive heard of the minamoto clan and i know they were really important but i think they disappeared after the genpei war. Can you say why or if there were any left
The Minamoto actually continue on. A branch of the Minamoto went on to found the Kamakura shogunate.
@Fox Ace I haven't played it, but have heard of it. Pretty popular among the commenters here, understandably :)
1:31 ”then crash as hard like Tesla doesn’t”
Also Tesla: Explotes
When I look at my bankaccount I also always think I need "a level up" or at least some "health points"(AKA winning a lottery😜).
But if you go inside the "secret hidden cave"(AKA the bank😜 ) then you might get some improvements.
3:49 Now I'm curious, what's so bad about The Pillow Book?
Me: *sees merch*
Me: I don't need it
Me: I *don't* need it
Me: *I don't need it*
Me: *I NEEED ITTTT*
Where is part with Emishi? I think it is one of the most important part of Heian period to understand whats going on in this era and why Shogun title was created.
1:19 This is still true, tbh. That or overly aggressive deer angling for treats.
Actually Minamoto and Taira claim themselves as branch family from imperial family. Lots of aristocracy intermarriage local gouzoku and eventually ended up samurai or became local clan because aristocracy numbers became too huge in imperial court.
Emperors were having like 30-40 children back then, and the state was going bankrupt having to support so many people. So, many ofthese people were demoted from royalty to lower nobility, and had to go out out into the the world and make their own living. Many of them were given land in the countryside and created their militias with the locals for self-defense, which is basically the origin of the samurai.
Yeah, sounds like fun times :p
You should do the full history of China next. Harder I know, but worthwhile I think. Youd have your next five years planned at least 🤷🏽♂️
They were social distancing a thousand years ahead of time.
4:15 it’s because he wore very heavy earrings when he was a prince, weighing down his ears
when does anime and manga come in??????
I would love to play a game like rise if the ronin during that period.
Ah all of that destruction, how beautiful
Drool
A soft coup
What is ritsuryo state
So are era’s just century long fads

Love from india bro.I was wanted to know about japan and want to learn Japanese.I am a anime fan due to no dub episode i start to learn Japanese 💐
Love from USA 😁. Good luck learning Japanese. It's not easy!
@@Linfamy Thank you ,Can you suggest me any app or way to learn about japan and Japanese
I won't be much help in learning the Japanese language because I don't know it ;)
As for Japanese history resources... I list the books/resources I use in the description of the videos. If you want something freely available online, Wikipedia's pretty good. So is this site: factsanddetails.com/japan/
The bondage of power
Also I know chinese this is how you say hello 你好
Great video as always! I’ve really been looking forward to the Heian era! Which is odd, because as a humanities student, I’m sorry to say that I found The Tales of Genji to be incredibly boring.
That's probably because it IS boring 🤣. I had to read it in college too.
what i want to know is when was the first tentacle hentai invented?
Haha that would be an interesting video, though I'm not sure how appropriate it would be..
So the Shogunate era was basically when the military became Japan’s government.
Yep!
the fujiwara vs the minamoto vs the taira the GENPEI WAR I play it in Total War - SHOGUN 2 but I dont know who won in real history
Fun fact: for the Chinese version of Plants vs Zombies 2 there's a new time period called the "Heian Age"
What about susanoo merch
You mean...this?? :D

Do you think the Heian era was more "peaceful" than other eras?
Lol
Why didn’t you say it? You came so close a few times. Let me get it out there. “The Fujiwara clan famously married their daughters in to the Imperial family seizing control of the Heian court for 200 years”
Wow, Medieval Japan was really into Property Rights? Who knew?
Where did they get the iron?
From the rivers they got 砂鉄.
I mean in the rivers.
