Bridge jump @5:14. Hard to see, directly in front of the right front of the vehicle, a shadow falls off the bridge just as a gray SUV approaches. Gas tanker passes by then stops further down. They come back to railing and search. Very sad.

Hey State of Virginia, how about investing in two separate cameras, one pointing each direction??? Virginians safety is worth more than the pennies you save by having one camera that rotates!
There’s cameras every 12 miles apart from each other here in Virginia day 360 and they are allowed to go up and down as in they can make the pole taller and shorter that the camera sits on

If you know someone struggling please get them some help.. I have to constantly stay in treatment. The only reason why I am here is I have 2 kids and I can't hurt them by doing something like this.
Thinking about how hard my dad fought after his 5 bypass got me through my worst time. Somehow his fight with his health as he gets older makes me think I shouldn’t throw my life away. I’m grateful God gave me something (as weird as it may be to others) to think of that brings me back to center during those dark moments.
I am so sorry this person reached this point and didn’t have the right person in their life to talk to about things. I have to wonder if maybe they had a job/coworkers/boss that made them miserable enough to do this rather than have to go to work Monday morning. I’ve been there. Or maybe it was school or family or a relationship. Doesn’t matter. We, as a society, should stop being so judgmental. We need to be kind. Stop being two-faced about everything. Sometimes even the strongest support isn't enough. Sometimes the pain is too much too bear. Even trying to fully understand what someone else is dealing with you just can't truly know how deep the pain is and how close to surrender they are. My family & friends were shocked that I was that depressed and they didn’t know it. Every time I hid behind a smile and laugh, the internal darkness got worse when I was alone again and able to turn it (the fake smiles, etc) off. And ohhh how I dreaded going to work! But, I digress. I cannot begin to know what brought your friend(?) to feel this was her only choice. I truly hope she has found peace and pray for her family.
I seriously wish Virginia and every other state had a 1080p or higher quality 360° camera system and had an emergency detection system setup if a vehicle of any kind stopped on the bridge. To send emergency personnel immediately to the area and wish someone in those first vehicles stopped to help her before she decided to jump . If I was on any bridge anywhere in the world and saw a vehicle stopped on the bridge with their emergency flashers on I would stop to help especially even faster if I notice someone was about to jump off . We are not perfect human beings. We all have hard times in life . But taking your own life away makes it so much harder on all your family and friends and even those who never knew you . Even if those close to you have given you a hard time and you feel no one cares about you . Remember, there are always people out there who do care . I’m so very sorry to the loved ones of this poor woman , so devastating , I pray that something more can be done to address the shortage of real urgent mental health help in a crisis . There is most certainly a lack of empathy and compassion amongst healthcare professionals be it down to simple exhaustion or lack of training and staff , it needs looking at urgently and not just in USA but globally ! 😢 This reminds me of a holiday in San Francisco in 1992, when I was walking on the bay side of the Golden Gate Bridge. Suddenly I heard a vehicle braking hard. There was a VW bus on the opposite side of the road. Seconds later, passers-by were shouting and pointing downwards. A person dressed in blue and white could be seen in the water. She must have jumped down immediately after the vehicle stopped. It took me some time to realise what had happened. Very sad that the person had no other option.
VDOT didn't post anything. VDOT doesn't record traffic cameras. A couple of private companies do, one of which I rely on. The family doesn't have to watch the video, nobody is forcing them. Then again, they can speak for themselves, not a stranger.

So at 5 minutes 16 seconds to 5 minutes 19 seconds next to the car and the light pole there's a shadow that falls from the the bridge, I only just noticed it while fast forwarding the video.
The resolution of the camera is terrible, so there is no way to tell if the person was ever out of the vehicle until just before they jumped. Few people stop for a car with flashing lights on the side of the road with no signs of what might be happening.
The big truck and the vehicle behind it did stop 04:58 looks like they saw her when they drove by. You can see them both stopping around the curve 05:26 and 2 ppl come running back 07:45 ....it's hard to see...I was looking for an accident and saw her jump as I was rewinding
Someone empowered themselves to control the life they were given. I feel bad for them for the suffering that life caused them. But they are very powerful for finding the strength to take control and say enough is enough.

She seemed very happy and full of life. She has a loving family. But you never know how depression hits someone.
