This thing is terrible for what it’s trying to do. I’m so glad I have several tools that can back this up. I traded a friend my IM608 for this NEWER obdstar based on this video. FIRST job I get is BMW e90 replace the DME. Pretty simple task for all the high end immo devices. Simply read the ISN of donor DME and write to the CAS module. Im608 does it without issue, Xtool, CGDI no problem. This obdstar connects and almost immediately says it can’t support this version of DME…. Basic msv80. Luckily I happen to have my CGDI laying in the trunk so I break out my laptop , and within minutes I’ve read the donor ISN and written it to the CaS. Car started job done. Is there ANY way to make the obdstar handle this? It comes with a lot of Kit, to be a waste.
You had a sample size of ONE. The guy has said in previous videos and essentially every automotive programming guru says you need many tools to do majority of modules. There is no tool out there that can do all. So because you tried one tool on one module then it is terrible?
@@pedaltheglobe419 you saw in my post, I have many tools. The problem here is, on an e90, almost every tool of this level can handle the Isn job. It’s not a matter of every module - this is in the market as a specialized Immo tool. I’m not asking it to do ANYTHING outside of that. OBDstar is on the same level as Xtool, and Xtool doesn’t have a problem with it. For its cost , it’s should be able to do what IT claims. It specifically identifies ON the tool that it can handle this task, and has all the selection and menus to get to it, then, it just fails. That’s it, no explanation, not alternative, just fails. Since this post I’ve resorted to just using my good tools and bringing this key master along , bcuz I’m open minded and like to try it on multiple jobs to see if there’s ANYTHING that makes this worth bringing. Well guess what? MORE disappointment. I had a task of changing the info from an ME2.8 from Bosch. Of course the Keymaster couldn’t do it over obd, but fine, it has an eeprom reader/writer built in. So I try to read the 95P08 chip and write it to the new chip. Well the obdstar can’t read the 95P08 eeprom , even tho in its list it shows 95040 to be used for 95P08. Anyways, I have Launch Pad 5 and it was able to read and write the eeprom no problems. I also have Vvdi prog, which of course can do it. Basically I’m trying to get some kinda value out of the Keymaster, but it’s just not happening.
My friend you are a good guy and seems honest business man. However obdstar people are not as good as you seem to think. They have not solved any issues i told them. Easy things they don't seem to care. They should be more professional. When i tell them such and such doesn't work they admit it but don't correct in there software to say not supported. They leave it as supported even in newer version
I wish OBDSTAR adds more support to ford I was working on 14 f150 trying to do a clone but support for fords are really poor hopefully one day soon they add more support to them
Obdstar is not better than Autel but it’s a very good compliment to the Autel. One area I will grab the Obdstar every time is late model Dodge Ram. 23-24. Autel takes a long time to pull the pin and failed to program keys. The Obdstar pulls pin in seconds and programs the keys very fast as well.
Hello, I got question sir. I have Autel 508, I am able to read eeprom, but unable to write eeprom. It says verification error. I called Autel customer service and one of them said Autel is only reads eeprom not writes, the other one said some of the reads and writes Autel doesn’t support we have to go to manufactur software.
Can you give me an advice what should I do ?

I wonder how this stacks up against the xhorse key tool plus, they seem very similar.
You need to do a comparison between an OBDstar G3 and a 706 too. I am looking to buy one of the two but I don't know the difference or which is better.
They are the same basically for cloning. . G3 is for immo and programming, but can add on the same feature to clone as dc706. This was explained in this video.. the dc706 is cloning only.

Obdstare failed me on Mitsubishi endeavor 2003 it show key Programming complete...bt key count is zero

I'm doing a lot of mail-ins on the Benz emulators. I want to shop with ya uhs got bad customer service as far as defective parts return. Do the mini xhorse emulators work on the im608 like a keyless factory? If So I'm gonna order from you.

On the newer cars, do you need NASTF to program keys and ECMs? Seems Autel locked me out of programming anything security related. I am looking for a newer too.

My autel 508s is not locked to any car so im not sure what you're talking about. I think NASTF was just bluffing about the whole VSP code for all immo related access.

@DFWAuto_Hack no i haven't, i also have a km100 that is fully updated and nothing from nastf there either. There's 45 to 60 day vsp implementation have passed as its been around 90 days now and no sign of a vsp needed. Also i have yet to see a UA-cam video of a programmer needing a vsp code to access anything. So me personally i think its all a bluff from nastf to scare shop owners to pay them for a vsp. Or it could be that tool manufacturers to nastf to F off or the made different arrangements for security accessibility.

It can seem that way if you don't know how to use the G3, 1 thing i didn't mention is the G3 can do immo off on certain ecms.. Also can the Autel clone ACDELCO E39A ecm? More Videos coming soon..

I think Autel is superior to every third party tool manufacturer of its generation; the only issue Autel someone displays is speed but as far as versatility, Autel beat them all hands down; i dont like Autel customer service but the 508 / 608 is actually what revolutionized the smart immo type of scan tool. Im glad i still have it but im glacing around to see if i can find something that comes closer especially as far as benz all keys last key programmer
The Autel is good for that you just have use the bench method it the fastest easiest way.
autel can't do more than it can. it covers basics. many MCUs and ECUs can't be deciphered by it. Couldn't swap instrument cluster from Audi A3 because both old and new use MCUs not supported by Xp400 Pro and Im508. Car is old, it's a 2007. It's just not the job for an Autel you need a few dedicated programmers for MCU/EEPROM/ECU works.
