  • This video is a complete waste of your time. It's an in-depth tutorial on how to go broke buying an electronic drum setup. I go all the way adding everything I could think of. You'll need to take out a small mortgage just to buy this thing (unless you're Bill Gates)

    Justin, I have an Alesis kit, It started out as a DM10, than I add a DM4 to it and an Alesis TriggerIO. I have 13 drums and 14 cymbals. All the drum are Alesis , I have four Alesis 8 inch drum triggers, 5 ten inch Alesis drum triggers toms, three are 14 inch, snare and floor toms Drum triggers, 2 ten inch bass drum triggers, towards cymbals. Four 14 inch Alesis DM cymbal triggers, one 16 inch dual zone Alesis ride cymbal trigger. One Pintech 18 inch crash, one Pintech 16 inch crash. Two 12 inch Alesis hi hats. One set of Pintech 14 inch Hi Hat cymbals. Two smart trigger 16 inch china types. I have three Pearl Bass drum pedals , one double and one single. A Pearl heavey duty hi hat stand 12 cymbal arms on my kit. Towards sound system I took what you said and went out and brought a Peavey PA system, 400 watt amp and two 6 foot speaker colums. And a pair of bose head phones. I would send you a picture if i could? I at one time in my life had Ludwig Blue Vistalite Double bass kit like the drum set up I have now. With Viking road cases. This has cost me close to $5000.00 to buy and make the way I have it. The Ludwig I had was close to $12,000.00 with the road cases. Thank you Justin, Maybe you could do a session on all of us that go out of our way to make our perfect kits. I'd send you pictures if your interested? Thank you Justin, Jeff Jamm.

    Here are a couple of things you forgot..
    First, you'll get hot playing and operating all that top end stuff. So you need a couple of fans. The Dyson Air Multiplier is just $369. You only need 2 of them to keep you cool.
    Speaking of keeping cool $300 for a bar fridge along with $100 of your favorite brew.

    Great fun video :-D
    Ok heading to the music store to do my Roland to Alesis trade, I have to do it, the TD1 module is just too restrictive for me. Even though I plan on using addictive drums in the near future I think I'm gonna like the DM10 module much better, plus getting more drums, and finally a kick tower. I did love my KT10 pedal but I'm giving it up with the trade, I need the money I'll get for it to do the trade. Wish me luck! I'm gonna hold off on buying a pedal and try the Alesis pedal that comes with it for awhile.

    • @exdcpopo
      @exdcpopo 7 років тому

      Haha thanks, yup I went ahead and made the trade after 2 hours of haggling with the sales rep, who happened to be a drummer but not a fan of edrums....ugh that was not fun, but we finally reached an agreement. I swear it was like buying a car with him going back and forth to the owner/sales manager's office until I went and started to break down my kit and pack it back up and go home. I'm sure you know the game. I didn't get exactly what I wanted for my kit but we finally got close enough to make the deal. You're probably at service right now, and I gotta hit the rack. Working nights at the moment but should be back on day shift next month. Have you used our last conversation for Sunday night/Wednesday night testimony time yet? Lol!

    Hey! What should i get Alesis Crimson or Alesis DM10?

    • @AtTheSourceStudios
      @AtTheSourceStudios 7 років тому

      friction Crimson for the much better sounds. Still expandable up to 2 extra pads if you decide to in the future. I would recommend the Roland TD11kv though. The reason is the feel when playing is much more dynamic and the Hi Hat is dual zone so you get the top and edge hi hat sound which is mandatory for a pad you will be playing most of the time as opposed to the Alesis products only put one zone to the hi hat making it play very unrealistic and can bother some people. Good luck with your purchase!

  • @bm_videa

    Kind of off-topic but still a budget related question: Is it possible to connect drumpads and cymbals directly to a PC? (Say if I only want to buy pads and cymbals, but no module and use VST for sound generation). Are there direct connectors for MIDI on each pad/cymbal? Or is there a device/box that acts just as a converter but has no sounds etc (and, thus, is cheaper than a full-scale drum module - so I connect the pads/cymbals to the device and the device to a MIDI/usb on a PC)?

    • @65Drums
      @65Drums  7 років тому

      You'll need to buy a module. I'll probably make a dedicated video on this, but the only way around it is to buy somthing like an alesis trigger io. But even then, its not perfect

    • @bm_videa
      @bm_videa 7 років тому

      Thanks for info. That video would clear things up for many people I think. You could also mention stuff like how many inputs per module there are, whether the inputs are standardized (so if it is possible to combine hi-quality pads with some cheapo style chinese module just to use it as a midi interface) and if there are some expander options (buy one module and some expanders to increase the number of inputs).

    • @bm_videa

And its perfect Timing Justin Because I broke my 2 crash symbols ...the housing for the triggers o the bottom of the symbols cracks and the rocker piece a flaw in design if you ever review Laurin Product Symbols remember to look at that part there symbols look cool but don't sustain over a short time of multiple strikes breaks down

  • @Egalitarianism-qx8mf
    @Egalitarianism-qx8mf 7 років тому

    Man, give me 40k and I'd buy the sickest setup!!!! But, I like your style and thinking!!! I was thinking, why not do what Thomas Lang did, and that is just put two flag ship Roland kits together. Meaning you basically get a huge rack system, run two td50 brains and then just fill it out with Roland cymbals and drums. Given that a flag ship module gives you a 5 piece kit plus for AUX out's, if you're running two modules together which I think you can, you could have a huge kit!!!! So, snare, bass drum, 2 rack toms, 2 floor toms, hi-hat, 2 crashes and a ride, that's just right there 10 outputs, plus the 4 AUX outs, times 2, that's literally 28 out channels!!!! So, if you did it that way, I would have two bass drums, 3 rack toms, 2 floor toms, 2 hi-hats, 4 crashes, 3 chinas, 3 splashes, 2 rides and 2 snares. Totally that's 23 odd channels used their, easily enough, mwwwhahahahaha, that would be an insane kit. Plus of course you'd buy all the other accessories that you mentioned, like amp, head phones, stick bag, speakers, throne, sticks etc etc.

    • @Egalitarianism-qx8mf
      @Egalitarianism-qx8mf 7 років тому

      I noticed an obvious bias towards Roland in your vids, plus there is what looks to be a td30k setup behind, right?? Actually, my first electronic kit was a DTX expressII Yamaha, something like that. It was a mid/lower level kit, around 1700 bucks Australian. I bought it in China while I was working and studying over there. It wasn't bad, very good for transporting to gigs, I used it heaps for gigs. But, when I moved back to Australia, I bought a ts30k for around 5k. FUCKIN AWESOME MATE!!!! Compared to Yamaha, I think the sound quality of Roland shit all over Yamaha. Now though, I have a little regret. I am thinking maybe I should have waited until the td50k came out, and bought that instead because I bought my td30k last year Febish. Oh well too late now. td50k, is only like 500 bucks more, right?

    • @65Drums
      @65Drums  7 років тому

      Well just in general, Roland has ACTUALLY been making new drumsets. Yamaha hasn't come out with anything new for awhile. And the all the sound modules from yamaha don't sound as good to me. Some people disagree.

    • @Egalitarianism-qx8mf
      @Egalitarianism-qx8mf 7 років тому

      There are a couple of Drumeo lessons where the drummers are playing on a Yamaha 950k and I was thinking, wow this is their flag ship model and some of the drum sounds sound just like my mid/low level yamaha kit!!

    ha! I see, the video is a complete waste of time ---- However, it is instructional on getting to know what is 'out there' that could 'break the bank''....:)
    I still see a TD-50KV in my 'retirement'... Just to enjoy at home. I see no traveling with a band. Though, I see expending $8,000+ is a 'lot of money'.. Indeed. But, on the other hand, why not try to play on the 'best' (or, something that approximates that--ha!)
    Still a great video -- I can see this was fun to make.
