I first went to GDL back around 1997. I started going there to visit a college friend who I met at San Diego State University. I've been there several times and it was always interesting to visit and explore around GDL. One time the airline had to take a short detour to Puerto Vallarta due to fog at the airport in GDL. They let us get out of the airliner to wait inside the airport.

I was born in Guadalajara but raised in Los Altos de Jalisco, buut I love gdl, I love andares, puerta de hierro, paseo Chapultepec. But I love Los Altos de Jalisco too. Check out Los Altos de Jalisco, these small towns are really beautiful and peaceful. I’m currently living in Atlanta Ga lol, but planning to go back to Jalisco soon😊
Providencia is huge, the 2 sections that you seemed to showcase were Primera & Tercera Seccións (1st & 3rd sections) both within easy walking distance of Punto Sao Paulo (the area with all the restaurants). I lived there for a year and it is very walkable. Bordered by Av. Pablo Neruda, Av. de las Américas & Av. Montevideo. The 1st and last Avenues that I mentioned each have a Parque Lineal running up their centers, which are great for walking, jogging or biking. I would also mention that if someone has a car and a bit more of a budget, there are almost too many really nice neighborhoods to list

Hello Yarbros, We stayed in an Airbnb near the Glorieta La Minerva area from Jan to March of this year. It was a great spot with a La Comer right next door but also many great restaurants within 15 minutes walking. I can highly recommend the area as well for those coming to Guadalajara.

I would love to live in Chapalita based off of all you have shown us in your vids but it's a bit too far from the office my company has there so IF I try to transfer it's a no go. BUT Providencia is perfect, also gonna check out Zapopan as it is in range of the office and apartments seem to be priced better and have more availability for pets than my search for providencia. Anyway, thanks again!!!

I found a place I could have to myself via AirBnb in Americana, all the reviews say it's in a quiet area. Would you ever consider living in the quieter streets there, or is it too wild/ not as pretty/ too much crime?
We would surely consider staying down there. My wife wanted to initially but I didn't. If we did it all again we would def consider the right areas of Americana.
Thank you for the tips. I'm in CDMX now 2 weeks in with 2 more to go. I'm doing 1-month hits in various places to see which suits me for a longer-term. I'm one of those older people you mentioned but in the states, Europe, and even Mexico my friends have always been a mix of late '30s to late '60s. For my home life, I like quiet with a bit of outdoor space for my little dog. I'm out walking the dog every day and man that starts so many convos. When I leave the house I like activity, bohemian, independent shops, and cafes, green spaces diverse groups of people. Life in general. There's nothing wrong with having some English speakers around. Especially while you're still learning a new language. I'm checking out Guadalajara, Queretaro, San Miguel although I do like being closer to an airport which the first two offer as does CDMX. Great content.
AGL, I live in San Miguel. Check out Guanajuato when you go to San Miguel or Queretaro. Based on what you wrote, I think you might like it. It's a university town with lots of creative energy. I've lived here nearly 4 years and it's one of the best things I ever did. A good place to practice your Spanish, too. The BJX airport is close, too. Enjoy!

Very helpful information, I’ll have to familiarize myself with those neighborhoods in your video. Also the Pueblo’s nearby Guadalajara specifically in the lake Chapala area are very fascinating and picturesque.
Tlaquepaque is cool specially cuz the train passes through there, but it’s more on the outskirts of the metropolitan area so you it’s not as nice and upscale as those in the video it’s a lil more hood I guess, the center of chapa Lira is cool, lots of cool cute places with bars, stores etc.
Nice video guys. I'm going to be a debbie downer in the comments. But I've earned it... There's way too much trust in the policia (frito bandito). It's not like the police in the US. I'm not a fan of either, but still, very different beasts you're dealing with. Also, you can get mugged anywhere. Don't be a target and you won't be. In my experience, it's the cops who do most of the mugging and robbing. Think of them like hyenas. Keep a distance. Don't incite them. If they challenge you, stand your ground peacefully, but don't submit. Know that they're mostly sniffing for weakness, they'll get bored and go away if you make it clear it's not an easy meal. Not a respectful analogy, but super useful.
Ì would agree for the most part, but Ì didn't really like Colonia Americana very much. Ì didn't really find it altogether hipster really, more like a nightclub area you might find in an outer suburb of Dallas or something. Kind of a soulless and obnoxious vibe.
I hear you. I think it depends on where you're at. Over by all the quaint little cafes...Cafe Neretta....it has a very distict cool flavor cool hipster character.
