Both performed well but the Jeep seemed like it handled each challenge with ease and the suspension seemed more settled than the Bronco.
I think the sway bay disconnect had a lot to do with the Wrangler seeming more planted and settled
That’s because they didn’t pick the true off-road Broncos with the Badlands or Raptor
@@captainkill21 the wildtrak with the HOSS 3.0 makes it more of a true off-roader than the badlands and the Raptor would be more fitting to compete against the Wrangler 392. I do agree that there are more capable Bronco options from the factory. Maybe we should try to test a Bronco Wildtrak against a newer Wrangler with the Xtreme Recon package that gives it 35s 🤔
@@MOHAWKAUTOI agree
Yeah but I think the bronco has better tires than the jeep
For “off-road” it’s the Jeep Rubicon. Wayyyyyy better Period.
The Bronco did really well considering it didn’t have some of the same feature and this model isn’t considered the off-road focused trim. I do think the Rubicon is extremely capable and with the new Xtreme Recon package it’s even more capable than previous years from the factory.
I think the main takeaway from here is that Both these machines are frankly really capable. Edge to the Jeep because of the solid axle tho. I actually think that’s more to ford’s credit than to any Jeep superiority. The bronco is doing really well in spite of the disadvantage of being IFS.
should have used a Badlands. thats the competitor for the Rubicon. ive never seen an outerbanks without signature headlights
What’s amazing is how the Outer Banks still won, in spite of there being a more capable option available.
@MOHAWKAUTO I have a badlands and I absolutely love it. The big bonus is the swaybar disconnect on the badlands
There's a video on here somewhere with the branco raptor getting destroyed on the trails by the new rubicon x package
Jeep wins really guys !!!
I think the Jeep did really well and that it proved why it's earned the legendary reputation it has.
If it’s looks - the Bronco for win, plus Rubicon Trim vs Outerbanks not the most ideal comparison, bronco Badlands would be more similar - but great video and looking forward to seeing more
Thank you for the support! Maybe we can do a rematch with more equal models.
Imagine if ford kept a solid front axle in the bronco
Solid axles are great, however independent suspension can also be very good. I just wish portal axles were more common on off-road vehicles.
If you are trying to compare "similar" vehicles, you should've matched a Bronco Badlands to the Rubicon. Not an OBX Squatch.
Thanks for watching, appreciate the support! There could have been a better comparison, but this one wasn't too far off the mark. The Rubicon has the Xtreme Recon package now that gives it 35s that would have made for a more even comparison too. Subscribe and stay tuned, maybe we'll do a rematch...
Comparing two rigs with different size tires is... questionable. It's good information, but both have available 35" tire packages, and it would be best to compare them that way if the goal is to pick a "winner." It was a great video, and I look forward to seeing more. Also, Driver/Passenger is probably easier than Right/Left when spotting.
Thanks for the support and suggestions! I agree that I would have preferred to have the XTREME Recon package on the Rubicon. We couldn’t get the most recent years though and the older models didn’t have it available. I think we’ll have a rematch and maybe include some new contenders as well.
They couldn't make it equal, because the Jeep would smoke the Bronco even worse than it did here ... because the Jeep obviously won this.
I've seen many vs videos, this is good! I like the dialog as well. Audio and video is on point! I'm leaning towrds the Jeep! What the heck are those ground monsters!?
Thank you! Those are called Mormon Crickets and they get huge. Soon it’ll be like a carpet of them out there!
Both jeep and bronco are the best
I was very impressed by both!
Sweet
Thank you for watching and for your support!
I have a 2 door big bend but would love a 392 wrangler or gladiator with towing package
I really want to take the 392 out for a spin and I've been looking at the Gladiator too as it does offer much more towing capability. However, I have the original Jeep truck, the J10, with a V8 that makes the newer Jeep trucks seem a little lacking.
@MOHAWKAUTO Man, that's special to have a J10. Ideally, I'd take that over an 80s wagoneer.
@@Reecesavage-Alwayswin I’ve been trying to find a Wagoneer or Grand Wagoneer for years and I can’t seem to find the right balance of price and condition.
Dude! Awesome scenery! I need to get over to Idaho. Looks awesome 👌 great video man!
Thank you Steve! If you get over here, and need a ride, check out our Turo page and find the ride that will fit your trip!
Driver capability is #1 offroad.
I say both Bronco and Jeep are very capable offroad vehicles, although Jeep is second to none.
Ford made some laughable claims Saying their new Bronco was a Jeep killer, Ya simply cannot be something your not. IFS killed the Bronco as a slow and go trail king and it is a complete failure like the Raptor designed for the likes of desert racing across BAJA.
I agree and driver capability is always going to be a significant factor in any motor sport. Jeep is legendary because of how long it’s been around and it’s proven itself over many years. I think that the Bronco has the same potential and that only time will tell where it stands compared to Jeep.
The rocks showed how much better solid axles can be off road, the fact you’re forcing the opposite wheel into the ground as the other wheel is lifting just makes for better traction. Jeep won the rock test, in my opinion. Nice, unbiased test though.
Thank you for your support!
My neighbor waited eighteen months for the new Bronco, then hit with an additional $10,000.00 markup in addition to the $3,500.00 add-ons the dealer charged and added without his permission. When he complained they told him they had fifty people waiting for the new Bronco. To make a very long story short, he is so sorry he bought the Bronco, put it up for sale, lost about $5,000.00, and bought a new 2023 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 4xe in the most spectacular shade called EARL. I can describe the color as a non-metallic gray, with a hint of green, gorgeous color. He got the hardtop, Steel body with the $3,900.00 power soft roof which is a lot of money in my estimation, but he is thrilled with the entire package. There were no dealer add-ons, and they discounted the vehicle $3,000.00.
There are dealers are doing crappy things to people like that. I’ve heard horror stories as well as amazing stories. Hindsight is 20/20, and it’s easy to armchair quarterback this scenario, but I would have contacted Ford directly. Maybe they did and nothing came of it. My in laws had a issue with the dealer they were working with for their Bronco Sport. They didn’t submit and went higher and got the whole thing resolved favorably and quickly. I’d kind of like to see something in place like the UK has that prevents dealer markup.
What brand and model of cameras on your hats
Insta360 GO 3
How much does each one cost new?
The Rubicon I drove is 71,500 new and the Bronco is 61,500 new
@@MOHAWKAUTO could you justify the extra 10k for the Rubicon?
@@davidl929 in my opinion for 95% of people out there, no. Even though the new 2024 Wrangler has HD full float Dana 44 axles and an upgraded interior, it’s still hard to justify the price difference.
I think I lost it more then once. Glad those are not my vehicles and glad you both were safe.
You know better than most how I've done way worse things than this before.
Nice video. I think both vehicles did well.
When spotting you may want to trying using driver/ passenger in place of right/left. When face the opposite way of the driver it’s easy to get the directions confused.
Great advice! Thank you!
I came on here to say the same thing. Seemed they got confused for a split second as to who's left.
@@broncodiyonabudget1615 not shown was us discussing this before hand and that all instructions would be given from the drivers pov and there was hand signaling as well
Badass video, man! For such a new channel, I'm shocked at the actual quality... look forward to more videos. BTW bronco took the win 100%
Thank you so much! It was a tough competition but there could only be one winner.
Im amazed still that ppl do this kind of stuff with 100k+ vehicles.. id be pissed soon as i get a little rock chip on my paint .. the badlands bronco starts off at like 65k no mods!
The Bronco in this video was purchased for about 51k new, but I know what you mean! That's a lot of money and the potential damage can be nerve racking. That's what makes it so much fun though!
I have a Badlands that was just built (awaiting delivery). Yeah, it's $65K but that is with almost every upgrade/option Ford offers
Both did well
I agree
Both are great choices imo! Awesome work
Thank you so much! I agree that you can’t go wrong either way
You’re welcome to try and I’d love to see it!
After my friends bronco issues 2 of them , I'm Jeep guy !!!!
Nothing wrong with Jeep! I still have an original AMC Jeep truck.
Have the Bronk WT 4 dr - love it. Both are awesome off road but - for me - the WT was the better choice because it’s so much better on road. I went with the Lux and Leather, added a small lift and 37s but it is my daily driver so the IFS makes a world of difference. I get into some class 4 roads on the weekends and take the dirt roads home whenever possible so I feel like I have the best of both worlds. Love em both though. Thanks for the video and look forward to more!
I agree that they’re both great. Thank you for your support!
Na I could have done that with a base wrangler buddy, in fact I have done similar trails in my wrangler sport with at at tire option!
If the jeep came that close to a tie with smaller tires and smaller engine then it should have received a handicap. WIN!
That’s true that it had a smaller tire, but it actually had a larger displacement engine. The engine is rated at a lower power though. However the Jeep also had sway bar disconnects and the Bronco didn’t.
In Moab Broncos are way behind the Wranglers. They keep breaking. They need another decade of experiences of failures. Wranglers has been doing this since 1941 and still a learning process year after year. It's nice to finally see a competition. Nice video tho.
We want to go to Moab for sure, but we might be doing some modifications and upgrades first 🤫
I’d take my 21 Willys on that test and have no issues. I don’t have lockers either.
Is it stock, because the obstacles and getting to them are a bit more intense than they may appear. I’m sure neither of these make it in a stock/base model package.
Time for subscribers to test there rigs against the bronco! Awesome to see a willys
@@MOHAWKAUTOFun fact. All “trail rated” badge stock Jeep models are tested and capable of completing the Rubicon trail. Diff is the ease and comfort of the trail run.
@@rmatchav that’s correct! Front the testing I’ve seen, those stock Jeeps end up with a decent amount of trail damage. Which should be expected without bigger tires and protection.
If you can afford either one it's a win win for you
Both are a great option
84 month financing FTW.
You should've done a high speed test, and watched the Bronco leave that Jeep in the dust.
Like a high speed maneuvering test?
@MOHAWKAUTO find a really bumpy dirt road, and watch the Bronco fly by that Jeep.
Now those are big loose rocks.
All the same except articulation....Jeep is better but for everyday driving Bronco
I loved driving the Jeep on and off the road, but the Bronco does handle so much better on the road.
It's a bit of theatrics! Ive had new Rubicon's come out with us in Perth Australia and they are a very capable off-road vehicle, I can't comment on the newer Bronco, but Cruisers, Patrols and Land rovers would eat those tracks on stock tyres, even the old open diff models.
Thanks for the support and for watching. You Aussies get all the fun cars with better engine options than what we get. Patrols aren't even available here and the Land Rovers we get aren't really that off road capable compared to the Bronco or Wrangler.
Everything that I used to do in my JL seems way harder and scarier in my Bronco. Wide open trails, snow and sand seem way better in my Bronco Wildtrak. On road is miles better in the bronco. Major caveat is without many many mods to the bronco, I would never do some of the trails that I did in easily in my Wrangler.
There’s a reason why Wranglers are closely associated with off-roading! I really think package options on either make a big difference too.
@@MOHAWKAUTO for sure. My hard wheeling days are over. Rolling 30 times down a cliff in my Jeep made me chill out for a while. That’s why the bronco is so nice. General trail manners and tech is great without sacrificing as much on the road as a wrangler. But man that soft top on the bronco is really cheap. Aftermarket hard tops going for 6-7k. Not a cheap car to run.
@@mikes.8305 aftermarket hard tops do seem pricey but we may or may not be getting one *hint hint*. Like the Wrangler, there is a factory option for one and there is also the option get both the soft and hard top for a little under 2.6k.
@@MOHAWKAUTO I’m told that the factory ones are at least 12 months back ordered and most of the dealers are marking them up… but yeah. I like the Anderson Composites HT.
New bronco owner, love it, super capable, but my favourite feature is getting the respect wave from Jeep owners.
Broncos are good but never can be as good as a Jeep Wrangler. Maybe a 4 runner would compete better Lexus 460
Never is a strong word. Wranglers have a long and proven history for sure, but I think the Broncos will prove themselves to be as capable.
@MOHAWKAUTO I think their good but will never be as good. On BlippinJeeps UA-cam page in Moab they just can't hang they suspension is just flawed. But can do most climbs well
Jeep has more options when purchasing.
They both seem to have a lot of options from what I could tell. What kind of options does the Jeep get more of?
Stock the bronco wins but if the Jeep has a lift I’m sure it would have beat the bronco.
Slightly bigger tires could have made a big difference too
That can be said for either one.
@@Reecesavage-Alwayswin of course. With either vehicle, small modifications can have a major impact in how they perform. Which is what makes them so great!
Obviously the jeep did it with less drama and with smaller tires.
It’s incredible how much of a difference sway bar disconnects can make.
Doesn’t that Bronco have 35s ?
Yes, it has 35s
The Jeep took at different line, thats why he bottomed out.
100% correct. My spotter didn’t put me on the same line I put them
The jeep looks more nimble. The bronco looks like a big slab of metal.
The narrower track and especially the sway bar disconnect allowed for it to have better agility for sure.
Take the thousand and buy a winch or wench whichever you prefer.
For instances like this, I feel like a winch may be the better choice🤣
#TeamWrangler
Bronco😎
I agree. The Jeep was awesome, and I loved driving it, but I'd most likely buy a Bronco between the two choices.
The Jeep you can do any road surface have no blind spots and you can do anything to it 😂 the jeep of course the Bronco is just like any other everyday SUV back-in-the-day GM and Ford had something like a Jeep and they threw it away the problem is people keep buying foreign products and throw all of our jobs away
It’s all in the driver.
Jeep❤
Jeep all the way, take it from a bronco owner, selling mine soon, (JUNK)
What’s been going on with your Bronco?
took it off road for the first time, trails, mud holes, water, lost voltage, down to 12, then 11, made it home at 10 volts, now I open the hood to see the alternator is located near the bottom of engine, my 77 K-5 was on top, checked jeep is on top, crap design by ford, cant trust bronco any more. looking to sell.
That's rough, hopefully it's nothing too bad that's causing the voltage issue.
Bronco scraped side rail guys !!!
You're right! I was so caught up in the moment that I missed that when we were out there.
You're wheeling a Rubicon against an outer banks, why would you do that for the "Ultimate test"? One would think to get it as close at possible and everyone knows the Badlands Sasquatch is the closest competitor to the Rubicon, option for option. I've never watched any of your videos and I will never watch any of them due to your poor journalism and lack of attention to detail.
😂 journalism? Dude no need to be so serious. It looks like they are having a blast to me. Do you honestly care that much? I'm sure they won't miss you. 😢 let me go watch your one video you have posted in the last 3 years and find all the faults...
Look man, we appreciate you watching, but we are a small channel and can't just go buy the latest models that fit your needs. We are having fun and creating videos. Obviously, they have different options. Wouldn't that be more realistic anyways!? Out playing around on some trails with all your friends? Do you really think you will come across equally equipped competition on the trails? We are not here to be journalists. Thanks!
Ford losser....😜
Well, nust because Jeep bottom out. Bronco wins is not convinced.
