Actually a really well done video :D You got a potential for a bigger channel, Mr Life!
Only quibble is in the hill climb the Bronco got more speed, while the jeep was restricted to as slow a crawl as possible, and that ledge looked like the kind you had to bump with a little speed. Done stuff like that 1000x and thats what it felt like to me.
But you got serious potential! And best wishes on your recovery!
As a jeep owner, I will say the Bronco, while it has some teething issues to sort out, is a beast. AND I hope the competition forces jeep to drop costs. Competition is a good thing for us buyers, and I sure wont rag anyone who owns a bronco. I am and remain a big fan of jeeps, for my part.
Great comment! Thank you!
@@4WDisLife looking forward to more Bronco content. You got yourself a subscriber, great comparison video.
@@robinupham1975 thank you Robin!
I have a 2 door Rubicon, I really hope Ford keeps the Bronco around for a while because Ford & Jeep will constantly try to one-up each other to create the best off-road rigs and, we, the consumers will be the winners.
Truth
Most def.
I would suspect that given the amount of money Ford has invested in developing the new Bronco, and the level of interest in it, it is not going anywhere any time soon.
100% right. Consumers win at the end.
Very well done, thank you for taking the time and effort to get as close to an apple to apple comparison. I have a 4-door Bronco Badlands with the 7MT on order, very excited for that crawler gear! I don't have anything against Jeep and this will be the Ford I've owned: the short of it is better technology/functionality for everyday use and the Bronco looks way better.
thank you! Bronco is definitely a great rig, you won’t regret it.
Excellent comparison, no other video has such details!
Thank you Chris!
Am I the only one that thinks the jeep is now in 2nd place? it looks like the driver of the bronco took more difficult lines every time yeah the results were the same or better for the bronco. The independent front suspension that rides and handle so nice on the road, looks like it does quite well off road as well. I really love the way Ford designed the axle disconnect.Just my opinion I think we have a new leader.
Bronco is definitely a good balance between on and off riad
It is in second place. The Bronco is more comfortable and practical, and will go 99% of the places the Jeep will.
Toyota is better on road then the Bronco and about the same off road, Jeep is definitely better off road then the Bronco.
I have the 2 door Badlands on order with the 33's as shown here. Best video Ive seen so far comparing closely equipped vehicles.
Thank you!
So satisfying watching this. Great job CB!
Thank you Jeff.
Great video. I'm a Jeep owner. And I really like the Bronco. What I love the most, your viewer's comments. Everyone is respectful. Often times in these comparison videos, folks act like their brand is the BEST and everyone else is garbage. Good comments from all the off readers here! Bravo.
Awesome comparison. Lockers for the win!!
thanks! Yes, lockers are a must if one is looking for serious offroad
Great video with an unbelievable attention to detail!! Very calming vioce which is rare in an offroad review video. No need for the music tho gearheads love to hear the sweet sound of machines at work
haha. Thanks! Yea. I will make a dedicated offroad asmr soon
The driver makes the difference. The JL driver is not using the traction control correctly and doesn’t attack the the hill with momentum like the Bronco Driver…
Maybe.
Very suspect 🤔
This is the comparison I've been waiting for -- thank you. Sorry about your COVID-19 diagnosis -- hope you're recuperating quickly and fully.
Thank you! Glad that the video found you!
Don’t abuse the word ‘diagnosis’ so egregiously.
That was a very good realistic comparison test. Good job
thank you
Bought my Wrangler brand new in 2013. I've enjoyed it from day one and it still runs strong. No matter what...I'll always be a loyal Jeep fan. Hope people enjoy they're Broncos like I have my Wrangler!
Both very nice rigs to own
Fantastic comparison. The Bronco did better than I thought it would but still I love the looks of the Wrangler far more so that's where I'm spending my hard earned dollars.
thanks for the comment!
Great documentary. Your challenges were very fair and unbiased. I just sold my 2004 lifted Rubicon to buy a Badlands.
Thank you! You will enjoy it!
@@4WDisLife Let us know how it compares since you've owned both and wont be biased.
Someone who actually used same tires and same 2 door or same 4 door comparison. Thank you for this. Also just subscribed and pleasant surprise you have a bunch of Toyota stuff on your channel. Being a Toyota guy this is amazing stuff. You should do these same reviews with 4door rubicons broncos and add the 4Runner in there for fun. I would take that tacoma trd pro in the back tho
Thanks for the compliment. And yes the Tacoma trdpro video is coming up, I did film it the same day with bronco and wrangler however for the strict apples to apples I decided to show it separately.
Really great comparison, certainly one of the best I've seen and its apples to apples! The Bronco was aided by the slightly longer wheel base and track width in a few of the challenges while the Wrangler benefited being smaller and having the solid front axle in a couple of the challenges. Which is best? They both are, really depends on the trail and what you plan on doing with it. Thanks, I'm now a subscriber!
Appreciate it! Well said. I try to put out contents more often but sometimes life gets in the way, but I won’t give up.
Your jeep driver doesn’t understand their vehicle on rolling rock hill. Steady on the gas and it would have engaged BLD and gone right up
I guess, but the thing is we have been there several times before and he had no problem using BLD going up it
@@4WDisLife it takes a second to kick in. If you let off the gas as soon as you get wheel spin you are short changing the design of the system to engage. You’re welcome to the “but before” response. I’m just trying to help out on something I saw that could have changed the results
I just love the look of the bronco so much that I had to have one this is coming from a truck guy that traded in the 22 tundra for the 23 bronco
I am the same way, very tempted.
Such a good comparison!
thank you!
I’m happy for the competition and like the Bronco personality. However, being on my 5th Wrangler since 1997, I don’t ever see myself switching. My current rig is a 2020 JLUR on 37’s and lots of other mods. My second favorite Jeep after my 1997 with a 4 cyl and 33’s. Bought brand new and had much fun in her…..
Is ur jlur 2.0 or 3.6? I am wondering is 2.0t even worth it?
Excellent Video. Nice to see a Apples to Apples comparison on the trail.
thank you!
What’s cool is you can lock the rear in 2WD in the Bronco. Can lock the front too without locking the rear. Not sure on the Wrangler…..
They probably need a module for that
Great work overlaying the drone footage, that was really cool. I can't believe your GoPro made it out alive after getting driven over! Where was this filmed?
Haha. Same here. The video was filmed at an off-road park called famous reading outdoors.
I think the Bronco is more versatile and well rounded, but when it comes to solely off road, I would feel more comfortable in a wrangler. This is not the first time I’ve heard people say the Bronco can be sketchy at times in off roading situations.
for sure, it also depends on what kind of "offroading" people do, high speed vs low speed, sand vs rocks, mud vs gravel etc.
the best comparison.thanks
thank you!
Thanks for showing the manual bronco
no problem. Thank you!
Ford made a major mistake by introducing the Bronco Sport before the Bronco.
99 percent of people don't know the difference and think the Bronco is just another boring Ford product.
I have a black diamond 2 door bronco, i kinda like the gladiator and really like a 2 door jeep. I grew up riding in broncos, I had to get one.
Pretty awesome videography and work you put into this video and by this video and others you can clearly see the bronco is quite the match and superior in some ways to the jeep i’m not saying it’s a superior off-road vehicle but it is very capable off-road matching or surpassing in many circumstances lacking in very few and superior on the highway I think this is the vehicle I would go with
I agree. It’s definitely a very very hard choice if I was to pick
Thanks for the video🤙🏾for me it would come down to interior and street driving as it appears they are comparable off-road. The Bronco is better looking in my opinion but that's subjective.
Thanks for the comment buddy.
Thank you for the video, this is a very good unbiased comparison of the two vehicles. I believe the Bronco looked better at what they did, it struggled less in several of the tests. Many say the Bronco IFS will hold it back from the Jeep; that will not be the case with the stock Rubicon and the stock Badlands. Both vehicles will have many aftermarket upgrades to enhance their abilities. The Jeep isn't going anywhere that the Bronco won't go.
Well said.
"Bronco IFS will hold it back from the Jeep" says no one in baja, ultra 4 / formula offroad, or king of the hammers ever...
It really depends on what you’re looking for. Cost of vehicle matters in comparison and a lot of 4 wheel enthusiast like to modify. If I was to just go wheeling with what I had out of the box the bronco is the better option but if I were to look into some serious rock crawling I would go with the Jeep because the solid axels and the upgrade ability of it.
So did both vehicles have the same driver through the obstacles? It appears as if the bronco driver was doing a better job of managing momentum.
could be
Awd mode, traction control disabled, and crawl gear is actually very capable in the Bronco, maybe more than 4lo unlocked w/ swaybar still connected. (Would be moreso if u could disconnect the swaybar in awd & crawl gear with no traction control; with stability & traction control enabled its pretty bad crawling with the manual)
Nice video man! thanks!
I've been daily driving and hardcore offroading a Jk on 37s and 4'' lift for four years now, and while i know is the best vehicle for going offroad, i've had some serious reliability issues with my jeep. And that alone hinges my confidence on what trails and challenges to take with it. I have not driven a Bronco yet... but if ford can be more reliable in terms of heating, engine, waterfording and electricity overall... then i would swap to a Bronco with out hesitation.
well said. I agree, it’s the balance point between reliability, off-roading capability, on road driving that fit your need.
Didn't quality improve for the JL Wranglers? Maybe it’s not fair to compare a 5 - 15 year old (design and technology) vehicle to brand new. Technology improves.
@@Anonymint-vj7bt Well, not going to lie, you do have a point. On the other hand, before the '14 JK, i had a beater 07' JK and that one really proved to be an unreliable car.... but i knew it was far from new, so when i upgraded to the one i currently have, with the new(to that time) pentastar v6 i was hoping to leave behind all things regarding build quality and reliability... turns out, the 14' also had some tricks under its sleeve. To summarize; i dont doubt that the JL is a better built and more reliable vehicle than any JK, but i do doubt, after having driven the previous 2 models that i wont find again problems driving a JL after a few miles or few river crossings. Either way, the fact that the bronco exists, puts jeep in a difficult spot, and i am sure that the next wrangler would be something to take more seriously.
Great video! Is awesome Jeep now has a competitor. Currently you can have off road goodies with a base Bronco (sasquash pkg in a sport), hope Jeep will have options for base Wranglers, instead of spending $55k+
Great point! Yes, is consumers benefit from the Jeep vs bronco competition
I would say if you're going keep the vehicle stock get the bronco... I would say if you're going to do a bunch of modifications get the Wrangler because there's more aftermarket support but that's not fords fault . ... They'll get a lot of aftermarket support they just don't have it right now as much as the Wrangler it takes time... Especially during covid when people are having product production issues and all of that.....
Agree
You have to remember, Ford specifically designed the Bronco to beat the Jeep in every aspect. The good thing is that the Jeep brought the competitiveness approach from Ford. I think if Jeep makes a slight revision to the suspension and choice of factory installed tires they will even up again. What I do give Jeep a good credit for is dropping the diesel in the JL. IFS does have limitations once you get into modification. Example: lifted or not the "pucker factor" on shelf trails give IFS a tendency to teeter much more than the planted solids. I've seen two lifted new generation Broncos now and both have switched to solids. The higher you lift an IFS system, the more unstable it gets. Also worth noting that if it wasn't for Ford we wouldn't have a 392 Jeep. Thank you Ford!
All good points. Competition is our friend
Yeah they never should've gone away from the Goodyear MTR's they're a much better tire than BFGOODRICH mud terrain.
I like your videos Man
Haha. Thank you! That means a lot to me. Please subscribe if you haven’t done so.
This is like asmr off-roadiing
Thanks? Haha
Great video! 👍
Thank you!
To me, I think Bronco did better in the tests. It did not struggle as hard as the Wrangler and appeared more sure footed on "crawl gear".
Very well could be
First, Great non biased comparison compared to most who own Jeeps and try to give an honest heads up.. However if there was some more enthusiasm I feel you would get way more subscribers. It was very hard to listen (without falling asleep) to what we were watching but I do applaud you really hope your channel picks up!
Appreciate the feedback!
I like the calm narration, no drama. Goes well with the music. Quite relaxing! well, except for that one pucker moment!
@@Gyppor haha. Yea. It was pretty bad in person 😂
You didn't mention the Jeep having an auto transmission. I am assuming therefore that it was also a manual? Also, just wondering in general how the crawl would be with auto on the Bronco. Unfortunately they only offer the 7 speed in specific configurations like the 2.3 motor (which I hear is plenty). But also with the 7 speed you do lose several of the tricks the Bronco can do, like tight turning, one pedal control, and for some types of offroading an auto offers more control and safety (like steep inclines with off camber angles. You don't want to lose a clutch or stall). Personally I want the 7 speed for fun factor, but I have to recognize what I am losing, more power, more control, and software assist. One wonders how low the auto crawl is as well. They say that under load the crawl is effectively more than it is on paper because RPM's are loading up in the torque converter, but going downhill on idle it is closer to spec. Databyter
all good points to consider
Love it! Very detailed and clear
thanks Kai!
Sad to not see the Passat in the video but great video
Haha. The Passat definitely was a surprise factor to me that day, glad you made it out okay!
This was actually very helpful. I'm curious if the bolts on the underside of each of the Bronco's wheel-wishbone things (I don't know vehicle anatomy) would be at risk of breaking off when crawling over that rocky road. [18:41]
I think it would. But maybe not as a big deal as I think
Nice video. I own an '18 JKRR 6spd and have wondered how a Bronco 6spd would do. Thank you.
thank you!
Challenge 2 it appears to be mostly the slightly shorter wheelbase and lack of momentum that prevented the Jeep from climbing that rock easily.
True
Jeep is the vehicle of my choice, especially the rubicon model. The after market enhancements are unlimited just like in the name
I do agree
So many small variables...I love both these rigs....Wish I had one of each to play with. Love my Rubicon all the same...but I would love to have a 2d badlands.
They are both sweet rigs
Yeah, good video. I would still take the Jeep, though, the Ford did better than I expected. Always preferred a Ford over a Cristler but I think the Jeep is best for the most extreme terrain. The short wheelbase Rubicon has been the most capable 4×4 out of the box since its inception.
Agree
I'd say it's likely that the jeeps shorter wheelbase is what prevented it from getting up the hill without lockers.
Different wheelbase different tire placement. I'd bet a four door rubicon would have climbed the hill just as easily as the bronco.
@@frankm4486 you maybe right
I prefer the looks of the Bronco, and I think it’s a much better value when comparing a base Sasquatch to a Rubicon.
for sure, and an ifs bronco would be more comfortable on the road which is >90% of the time they will be driven.
I’m waiting for a new 4Runner phev. Hopefully it can do as well as these off road while getting Prius efficiency and hauling more camping gear.
That will be nice.
the bronco went up with more momentum come on
Great tests! Thanks for the video.
🙏 thank you
Great video. Looks like both are pretty evenly matched in stock form. I had wanted a bronco but impatience and the price led me to buy a sxs instead and a nice diesel truck to tow it and I’m glad I did. I have $10k or so leftover and I can take a nap driving through the stuff in this video in 2wd LOL
whats an sxs?
@@4WDisLife side by side, utv like a Polaris or Kawasaki
@@marka1712 i see. Yea. Side by side is definitely superior
@@4WDisLife I wouldn’t say that, both have pros and cons. For me the sxs works better but there’s lots of obstacles I can’t do based on tire size and wheelbase. All just depends on where you’re at and what you’re doing. But this video is a very good and interesting. I’m surprised they’re so evenly matched tbh
Great video, hope your all healed up from being sick. The dirt bike comparison was the best I have seen. Until you off road. The camera doesn’t do it justice. I am a toyota guy, but I love the jeep and bronco. Keep up the great work. Very fair comparison. First time watching your channel and I have no clue which one you prefer. Very objective!
thank you! As you may see from my other videos, I am also a Toyota guy myself.
And yes, I have been 95% healed by now, almost four weeks since I got it, now it’s just dry coughing
Great video great job, to me that was really to close to call. Jeep has always been the off road vehicle to go to & by ford making the bronco a runner up will only make jeep better. So it might be a war between the two where the consumers are the winners. Thanks for your work.👍🏻
True indeed, well said!
The Bronco Raptor is a step up again from these two. Unless you have a highly modified Jeep the Bronc's are great all round. On and off road. Traction control seems better on the Ford where the Jeep struggles and depends on the locker. Still a tough choice, depending on what you want to do or where you want to go.
Great video, but your audio noise floor is terribly high. Maybe interference from your computer or phone.
thanks and sorry about the audio, I have since improved from the years of practicing.
Probably best comparo Ive seen trying to get as similar rigs and doing same lines.
Is that AOAA?
Only thing is I don’t get comparos of trail features with the offroad goodies off. All you do is spin like mad and damage the trails. And in certain scenarios create a dangerous situation. You should have em on and your rig set up properly before you hit the feature. So that’s really what matters to me. Skipped a lot of parts of the vid that to me are irrelevant cause I would never offroad like that.
i get what you are saying, thank you for the compliment and feedback. The main reason we are doing the not locked comparison is to show how each vehicles electronic traction control works so people who owns Sahara and non locked model bronco would also find it relatable.
@@4WDisLife i know. It’s a good vid. I’m just seeing more and more drivers driving like this out on trails that, as a result, are getting more eroded and washed out. We already have a lot of people that don’t want us out there, and many of them are in positions of power over public lands access. The more we erode and damage the trails the more likely we are to lose our access. Forest Service is currently rezoning the public forest land that Black Bear Pass and many other CO trails are on and our future access could be limited or curtailed all together. As there are a lot of people new to offroading starting in the sport, maybe channels like yours can talk about how to do it properly, and how this is for demonstration purposes but you shouldn’t do it if you don’t have to. And for those that don’t have equipment like lockers, they should choose a different line.
@@dadventuretv2538 100% agree. I am all for tread lightly and against unnecessary trail damages.
Oh btw it’s not in AOAA but it’s close, it’s called famous reading outdoors, a huge offroad park for all kinds of vehicles. Not far from AOAA
@@4WDisLife sweet. I thought that place was mostly for atvs, dbs and side by sides and didn’t have much for full size street rigs? looks like they do though.
Everyone thinks Bronco does better , I've seen it go ether way when wheeling !!!
They are both very capable rigs.
Beat comparison I have seen. Good job
thank you!
Can you do a video about the Bronco Sport? The Cheap one. Always videos about the Bad Lands.
The badlands and rubicon is just the ones I can get access to now, but I will certainly do the sport if the opportunity presents itself.

@@4WDisLife I do. 2020 TRD off road manual with icon stage 1, wheels on 33’s.
@@jonerikgreene1175 nice. That should be more than enough for any terrain in my comparison videos haha.
It's not really an apples to apples comp. when you equip the jeep with the rubicon pkg. and omit the bronco's sasquatch pkg. and trail turn assist.
I’d argue then it won’t be fair with Jeep because the Sasquatch has 35s
Great comparison, I’m glad Jeep has some competition now. Fans of both platforms will both get better rigs now. Of course we would vote for the 2 door Jeep😁
Competition benefits us all.
I agree. Just like with lockers. I really don’t get why youtubers feel the need to demonstrate trail features without the offroad equipment being used. You bought, use it. And by doing so you won’t f up the trail too.
@@dadventuretv2538 we did that to showcase non locked versions capability.
@@dadventuretv2538 I feel ya on this one, a good wheeler knows their equipment and how and when to use it, instead of digging up holes all over the place trying to prove something.
@@4WDisLife I understand. But why? You have lockers for a reason. Hey let’s see a comparo of how the vehicles compare to one another in a way that they shouldn’t be used. I just don’t get it.
I guess it all comes down to what do you want to look at in your garage…
I’ve never been a Ford fan so that pretty much decides it for me…
A lot of this I can draw a comparison with photography as that’s what I’m familiar with. It’s not the camera (vehicle) that gets the shot, it’s the skill of the photographer (driver).
I keep switching between liking a bronco and a wrangler
@@4WDisLife I had a similar situation many years ago when I was involved with model trains. Couldn’t make up my mind what I wanted so I continually bought/sold/traded items never really enjoying the hobby to the extent I wanted. Finally just sold off everything in a fit of frustration.

Actually feel like the bronco did a little bit better
They were very close.
I'm in. Subbed.
thank you 🙏
Nice Jeep, good job Ford, Chevy where is the Blazer ZR2.
I know right?
I think ford is better but the engine still needs to be proven, whereas the wrangler engine has been around for a while.
The biggest problem with modern 4x4´s are too large size and too heavy weight of most brands/models.
Yes and yes.
👍good job
Thank you
i get annoyed by copycats. ford copies jeep wrangler and slaps a bronco badge on it. but this is nothing new. the orignal bronco was a jeep copy, so was land rover defender, toyota land cruiser and mahindra jeep. imitation is the greatest flattery, but every company wanting to beat jeep is more annoying than anything else
I wouldn’t say it’s annoying since competition eventually will benefit us consumers.
In stock form it looks like the Bronco has the edge in several categories. But with the JL having a solid front axle I would think that would allow much better aftermarket mods that would make it blow by the IFS limited Bronco.
good points!
Agree, aftermarket alone give the jeep way more potential for offroad performance than you could ever get with the bronco
@Brandon Calvert haha, says no one in baja, ultra 4 / formula offroad, or king of the hammers ever...
I’ll take the Bronco
It’s a very close call
Has the Bronco had any problem with the independent front axles?
Not for the ones we tackled that day
The Jeep Wrangler is still the winner by far.
It has the history, the pedigree, and is still by far the better looking of the two SUVS.
Ford gave it a good college try with the Bronco, however, it still is no match for a Wrangler.
You are pretty much confused loo
I'm sorry but between his voice and that music I was asleep in under 5 minutes.
that was the plan
Bronco is life.
its good
its good
Bronco all the way
Bronco, more torques…does better on hill climb…
Yes
Both did great but I think the bronco did better slightly. And the narrator is almost the most boring person I have ever had to listen too. 😂🤷♂️
Thanks for the feedback
Just the facts mam, just the facts are needed.
