When you talk about Freya and the mistletoe, there’s actually a sort-of explanation given to it. After the Baldur fight, Atreus asks Mimir why mistletoe harmed him. Mimir says that vanir magic is strange and tricky, assuming it makes sense for witches like Freya. What I got from that is that there needed to be someway for the curse to be broken and mistletoe was the method Freya chose, probably because she assumed the chances of Baldur getting hurt by it in anyway to be so small, and it fit with the spell she was trying to make.
It makes even more sense when you consider that in the original mythology Frigg(Freya) thought mistletoe was too innocent to hurt Baldur when she made him invincible.
@@denverarnold6210 Fair point, the story did shake up quite a bit of the mythology and it's characters, but the explanation given here does line up nicely with the original mythos.
What? No sin reduction for Mimir being one of the best side characters in a video game? He’s extremely funny and serves as the game’s way to teach its audience more about Norse mythology. That’s worthy of a 30 sin reduction
You know, generally I really enjoy these videos. It forces me to think about these kind of games and about the design and effort put into them, or lack of in some areas, but some of these sins are underserved. Mostly just the sins concerning dialogue information. For example Freyja says that no fire in the nine realms can make a flame in Hel, but the chaos blades are not made in any of the realms and that's Kratos fetches them and mimir confirms.
Normally I enjoy these videos cause they point out stupid or funny mistakes but this video he was sinning for no reason or just because kratos wasn't acting the same as previous games. He literally sinned because the boy was sad after killing someone for the first time just cause the dad said to expect to do that
@@wereling1325 I'd let that pass since Kratos was raised the Spartan way and Spartans generally thought nothing of death (further examples in Ghost of Sparta), but -- and this is unrelated -- I think the sin concerning Fate is undeserved. Kratos did kill the Sisters in the Greek saga, but since each pantheon has its own explanation for what controls fate, I fail to see how the Sisters of Fate could in any way affect the Norse pantheon. Wouldn't they be limited to just the Greek pantheon? The blades of Chaos already don't apply to the Norse realm, and going by these rules, the pantheons and their associated items of magic and/or divinity all exist in a vacuum unless brought by that world's inhabitant to another, like Kratos and the blades or Tyr and his worldly treasure room.

@@FloydRos While in Heil, sorry if I misspelled that, you see glimpses of young Kratos, some attacking Zeus, and I think another scene. Plus, old Kratos kinda quotes a line while talking to the 'ghost' of Zues while they ride the ship in Heil later in the game.
@@GolDJewelz Well, Mimir and Freyja both seemed to think that it was that Atreus' two natures were warring within him which caused the sickness, and Mimir went so far as to say that Atreus was picking up on Kratos' hatred for the gods - that would mean the father's hatred of that semidivine portion of his own son. Picking up on it, but not understanding it was a cause of Atreus' rejection of a part of himself in an attempt to earn his father's approval. To fix that, Atreus would have to know what he was, and that his father didn't hate HIM for it. Kratos understood this when it was pointed out to him; he even took the blame when he lamented *_"I_* did this to him?" But Kratos himself did not grow up in a house where he could internalize his mother's (in this case) hatred for the gods, and he had no cause to doubt that his mother loved him. 1:10 the second number 1 sin. I think the reason Kratos sometimes struggles wih certain tasks that would otherwise prove no obstacle at all is precisely because he is so insanely strong. He doesn’t want to obliterate the tree, he wants to chop the tree. He therefore applies minimum strength and increases it little by little up to the amount necessary for the task. Same with the chests. And this is something that all of us do often when confronted with a task that requires a yet to be determined amount of strength but probably less than our maximum. You can see this with the axe strikes that progressively increase in power.
24:45: Nobody *ever* said that the Blades of Chaos are the _only_ way to transfer the winds of Hel. It's entirely feasible that the reason they only stick to the blades for ten seconds is that they AREN'T what was designed to transfer them.
24:17 Actually, yes he was. Since Zeus was his actual father and his mother was human that makes him a Demi-god. Just because he later became the God Of War doesn’t mean he wasn’t god before that. Or at least a Demi-god, Bonus Sin Debunking: 26:38 Actually, they can make a blaze because the fire that’s charging it is from the Blades of Chaos, which were not made in Norse, aka the 9 realms. They were made in Greece by Hephaestus.
23:05 I always though they were the same blades throughout the Greek saga, Athena recovered them after the battle with Ares and blessed them at the end of GoW1 to convert them into Athena's blades. Then again she embued them with the souls of his fallen Spartan brothers and renamed them the Blades of Exile. Essentially the same weapon underneah the surface. When he betrayed her for the last time after killing Zeus they reverted back to their original form. Just a theory but works to explain why they are still called the blades of chaos.

33:28 No. It’s not “picking up on nuances and subtlety” that gave the plot twist away. It’s being familiar with Norse myth. All but one examples you give are just Norse myth hints, not game hints. That should be a sin off for rewarding players familiar with Norse myth for leaving clues through the story, or a good plot twist for people who are not as familiar with Norse myth. Not a sin.
And tbh, you really have to consider how much they had to remake every Norse myth without the involvement of Loki. Some people are saying that this game is trash and forced emotional moments. Fuck off. No emotion is forced. You feel the emotion of his decisions. When Kratos had, to tell the truth, you knew that this would be hard for him.
Hey, two years late, but while replaying the game I noticed that in the first encounter with Baldur he seems disappointed that you’re not taller. Baldur thought that Kratos was a giant, not a god. That’s why Baldur said “you know what I’m here” , because he came looking for Faye, the last giant alive.
Sin 119: Technically Kratos is a demigod since Zeus was revealed to be his biological father at the end of the second game and his mother is in fact a full mortal. Not nickpicking but thought I clear that up the confusion
AquaSaige14 during the events of GOW3 Kratos consumed Godly power of Hades, allowing him to swim in Styx. Before that, he pushed all of his own Godly power into Blade of Olympus.

Lord Flufflebuns You clearly phased out for a large majority of that section. It isn’t just the camera position he was mentioning but the fact light and heavy attacks are default mapped to the right shoulder and right trigger buttons. THAT was the Dark Souls comparison, not the third person camera
Have you fought the Valkyries? The Lock On is abso-fucking-lute bu~llshit. It is so useless i dont even know why its a feature. Also the combat in general is pretty bad. I’m very deep in the sequel, and I’m glad to report that the main story boss implementation has improved significantly. There are many things Ragnarok did well, but I think the bosses deserve a special mention.

Also, Tyr wouldn't be unkind to Kratos, because he's dead, so mute point. 9:26 Or the ancient serpent is just wise enough to know. 12:00 Well, what are you expecting, the snow to fall into the forest? 13:11 Each pantheon is responsible for their land, the Greek pantheon is responsible Greece, the Egyptian pantheon for Egypt, etc, there's no reason for fate of different lands to be controlled by different entities. 17:53 A bluff. 18:51 Why would you sin the game for a plot hole in Nordic Myth? 19:33 Mimir agreed which implies he also believes it which might as well mean that he had said it. 23:27 The fact that he still has them just goes to show you how much he really cannot escape what he was. 24:34 Just because the only way Kratos can move the Winds of Hel is with the Blades of Chaos, it doesn't mean Tyr couldn't move them with something else of his own creation, perhaps. 25:08 Hold the fuck up, saved what humanity? You literally just said he caused a world wide *apocalypse*. Seems like a pretty big consequence to me. 26:33 Wasn't there an interaction later on that revealed that Odin had blocked Mimir's mind from knowing certain details about Baldur, including his weakness to mistletoe and, most likely, who his mother is? 26:38 That's the whole point of bringing the Blades of Chaos along, they're the only one that are powerful enough to burn in Hel. Also, the fact that the blades use Greek magic and not Nordic magic may affect the "no magic" thing. 27:34 Not even Mimir knew about needing the eyes thing to unlock the message, he only guessed so. 29:32 Why? The serpent is lying down so why would the statue flow all the way down as if it were downstream? 30:14 She could've figured it out, right? His name must be pretty famous considering he took down the entire Greek pantheon. 31:29 - 33:00 That was so fucking obnoxious, holy fuck don't ever do that again. Anyways, just because you mention ever detail doesn't mean the prophecy does, and if it did, it doesn't even matter, it's prophecy, there's no "too many actions" limit, you predict shit and it comes true, that's it. 33:27 As others have pointed out: Bullshit, you unless you know and remember a bunch of names and events from Nordic mythology you wouldn't be able to tell shit. 31 video sins because I'm counting that two minute and half sin shit for 10.

What? No sin reduction for Mimir being one of the best side characters in a video game? He’s extremely funny and serves as the game’s way to teach its audience more about Norse mythology. That’s worthy of a 30 sin reduction
That story about Mimir nearly becoming "Mimir of the Bifröst Teats" is the best

To be fair, Kratos was technically a God before he got the throne as the God of War. Demi-god sure, but he still had God-like abilities.
Demi-gods never count as gods in classical myth. Indeed, the most famous of demi-gods Heracles only becomes a god after his death.
Fair enough, but technically speaking, Kratos wasn't wrong when he said he was born a God.
Here comes me and my Joey moment from Friends episode “The One Where Chandler hates dogs.” Ya think?

didnt kratos find out he was the son of zeus when he was an adult? how come he never got the sickness that atreus had?
@@GolDJewelz Well, Mimir and Freyja both seemed to think that it was that Atreus' two natures were warring within him which caused the sickness, and Mimir went so far as to say that Atreus was picking up on Kratos' hatred for the gods - that would mean the father's hatred of that semidivine portion of his own son. Picking up on it, but not understanding it was a cause of Atreus' rejection of a part of himself in an attempt to earn his father's approval. To fix that, Atreus would have to know what he was, and that his father didn't hate HIM for it. Kratos understood this when it was pointed out to him; he even took the blame when he lamented *_"I_* did this to him?"

7:49 No...what? No, of course not, Atreus not being able to do what's necessary to complete the journey but then proving that wrong is the whole point of at least the first act or so of the game.
8:00 Baldur and Thor's sons aren't boss battles?
8:41 Gods, and just people in general, have always shown to be giant pieces of shit, what makes you think Odin wouldn't judge Kratos for being an outsider even if Odin himself was one in other lands?
Kenti Just like the real cinemasins GCN takes everything out of context, jumps to retarded assumptions and treats them as fact and can never take anything at face value, god dartigan is so much better than this arrogant asshole.
Agreed
Brainstorm 101 the video is like 90% made for comical purposes, most things here aren't actual faults in the game :)
LOPES HICK Don't use that, all these CinemaSins rip off want to do is look like deep thinking critics first comedy second, UNLIKE Cinema Sins
Snakeskin94 meh i don't care man. I watch these videos because I think they're funny, they don't really influence how I see any game
I already saw 2 of these "everything wrong with", and yet no one ever talked about how the heck atreus managed to kill that big ass amount of dark elves all by himself
no way people saw the loki twist coming gtfo
O-Dog die hard Norse mythology fans did 😂
He pointed out the reasons people would be able to? He didn’t say everyone one would, but people still very much can if they know mythology.
Mistletoe and Baldur are pretty much a dead giveaway.
O-Dog Just look up reactions to the "plot twist" and you will find out
Maybe choose a reaction mashup to save yourself some time
LEBRON JAMES VICKERS who’s a die hard in Norse Mythology anyways 😂😂 dork
The music in this game is extremely haunting and powerful
I think the reason Artreus didn't think Kratoses strength was strange for a human was because he probably didn't meet a lot of humans when living isolated in the forest. He probably just assumed whatever his parents could do was normal for humans
24:30 well he is the son of Zeus so technically he was born a god
No, he was born a Demi-god not a god
@@RoundShades537 still a god btw
Khang To no, there are huge differences between gods and Demi-gods
Goran Sipka he wasn’t born a god he was born a badass Spartan the best spartan general that ever lived
He was born a demi-God and became a God after killing Ares and was promoted as the God of War.
He becomes a Demi-God again after the Rhodes battle.
Ghost of Sparta is the only game where Kratos holds his God of War title, interestingly.
he was cursed to have the blades always return to him, it was explained in the novel that takes place between god of war 3 and this one
Understand that people don't read the novels like you and me that's why when people review these games without context of novels I don't take there opinion to heart
@@Freethinker_94 im not takin it to heart but i commented it in case some people wnated to know, i didn't even read it, i watched video recaps
When he was talking about the combat and all the games that were kind of better with that combat I literally said I played all these games especially Ninja Gaiden
20:54 The uniform Kratos is wearing here somewhat resembles Captain America's suit.
