Wow! That really sounded like a target. I've had 2 scenarios where a clear target vanishes like that. A magnet on the end of the pick grabs the bit of iron after its dug out, or a very small thin bit of iron/gold that the detector hits when the target is flat in the ground but after its dug out its on its side so the detector doesn't hear it. Usually comes back after pushing the pile around for a while. I've found the 6000 does seem to like wet clay and tree roots. Thanks for sharing.
I just went to a very popular area near Durikai with dig holes like craters on the moon, I got not one piece of gold but 2 small pieces of wire with the stock 11” then after morning tea I put the 9” on and all that afternoon I was busy and the next day until after lunch when it rained I got 36 bits for 1.78g, tiny tiny poop that everything missed, it’s not worth writing home about but in desperate ti es it’s $200 petrol or food money, love your videos Smokey you legend.
I've had tiny targets get lost in the dig pile that I've found again by spreading it out again. I haven't had issues with charcoal and we've had lots of fires recently. I do find it susceptible to ground noise but if you go real slow over the ground it will not flip between high and low...but a real target will.
Yeah it does seem to be better with the charcoal than the Z but the 11 inch mono struggles for us in wet mineralised ground. We keep on learning all the same 👍👍
I had the exact same issues last week in Warwick with the 17” coil 🤦🏽♂️. It was easily fixed by doing a ground balance more regularly, it also kept the machine running sweet so I was able to increase the sensitivity.
The 5000 will do that now and then Smokey , my heart sinks as soon as i see a concentration of red, charcoal is usually a high low. Normally 3 plus grammers give a low high, and bullets lol
part 2 where the z fails against the 6000, two friends just came back from cue area, 7 weeks total detecting time, z total was 5 1/2 oz, 6000 total was 16 oz.
Maybe a thin piece of tin that was flat and the when it came out, it was on its side. Avery small piece. I have spent a lot of time chasing a phantom noise only to find as I refill the hole, Checked again and found a dit of tin or wire on the top of the ground
Hi Rob, a small target is never a low/high signal in my experience so that would count out something small and this is why we put it down to ground noise. 👍👍
I know the 6 is auto tracking, but (sorry to say) i think your 'ground balancing' was the true fail here! Your pumping is way too fast and for too short an amount of time also. All you were essentially doing was knocking it OUT of balance by doing that AND you never balanced on top of the supposed target, in the hole. In SD + DD coil days we learned to try and get rid of suspect signals (red clay) and if we couldn't, then we dug. This is something that I see so many people overlook these days because it doesn't happen as often with modern machines.
100% correct. Taking less out of the target hole each time avoids lost targets also. Sometimes a small clump of flour gold can give a target but when dispersed it vanishes. I can remember it happening to me once a few times in an area in Whipstick. I classified and bagged it up and took home, I have a clean up sluice running in my garage and to my amazement there was heaps of flour gold that even a monster would struggle with We all live and learn. I always do this now and have bags of hopefully pay dirt to process in those winter months when I cant get out there. If its the weakest of targets in the scoop and I cant see anything initially, I'll bag it and take it home. Us oldies get more because we are low and slow.
Hi Randy, no mate because a low/high signal is a bigger target response so it should have easily been heard once we dug it out. We both put it down to ground noise.
You should have moved 90° around the hole then seen how loud the response was before you dug too deep. Nothing wrong with the 6000 earlier detectors have done this
Had to be a target??? I’ve had that happen with tiny gold on the 7000 and have had to methodically work the pile in different directions and then switch to normal, semi auto… rebalance and look again at full roar until finding the little bugger. Almost always tipped to a less reflective angle when dislodged. They’re almost always tiny little flat triangular suckers??? I take it as a point of honour to find the sneaky little beggars lol.

I have literally found 100s but need to flatten the pile ,its the way geo sense reads the ground that gives you the target in the first instant
Every detector I've ever owned (6) has done that at different times. Don't worry about it.
Always a blast coming by fam. Better luck on the next hunt fam. Keep at it. Gold squad out!!!
Cheers guys, how you guys going in the creeks?
If the detector is using too much gain it can give rise to false signals, try to ground balance on the target to see if it is metal or not.
The SDC chases ghosts like that. you can feel 100% confident and then you are back filling.

Hi Mate, you have the 17 hey? How are you going with it? 👍👍
The 5000 will do that now and then Smokey , my heart sinks as soon as i see a concentration of red, charcoal is usually a high low. Normally 3 plus grammers give a low high, and bullets lol
Yeah mate, I heard it is an X series trait. When we heard the low high we were definitely thinking a nice Nugg 👍👍
part 2 where the z fails against the 6000, two friends just came back from cue area, 7 weeks total detecting time, z total was 5 1/2 oz, 6000 total was 16 oz.
Wow, big results 👍👍
😂
We spoke about this to Donny last week. He reckons always best to dig abit deeper and check the hole again.
Hi Sam, really, that’s interesting 👍👍

Which one of the two detectors is the best for Gold Nuggets ??
Should've hit the pile with the Goldmonster to be sure.
I GB'd more often . .. even before i start digging... and i use manual settings rather than the auto 1 and 2 .. .. sorry about the faulsey ..
Thanks for sharing. Smokey, Is it possible to get the details of your mate’s snake gaiters?
Yeah, I'm interested too.
Hi guys, here is the link where we got our gaiters 👍👍

@@SmokeyProspecting thanks mate! Aside from snake gaiters I love Double Ds as well, That’s right!
You’re welcome brother 👍👍

Did you check the magnet on the pick?

Nugget is stuck in old mates pick 😂

No way ground noise. You have a magnet on your pick end?
Woah crazy

Yeah it’s hard to believe it disappeared but it wasn’t meant to be this day.
Try and ground balance out the target if it balances out its ground noise that's the case with my 4500 .
Thanks Alan, will try that out. 👍👍
I had the same issue with the gpz7000...
Oooo! Just when I thought it was safe to walk outside again, BLAM! The little gold nugget fairies are at it again. Hmm! Now what are we gunna do? 🇭🇲🥴🤗
Mantap👍👍👍
Thanks guys 👍👍
Hell that would stuff your brain .I was certain that was a good chunk.
All detectors do it . Dug bigger holes than for nothing. That's the way it goes. You have to check.
Is that 14 inch coil?
Hi mate, that’s the 11 mono 👍👍
Low High....Ferrous or large bullet. Look on magnet.
Why compare two entirely different detectors,
You can't win them all on to the next hole keep digging 👌
Thanks mate 👍👍
😭⛏
Probably a bit of charcoal
Although we didn’t see any you might be right mate 👍👍
🙄
