How to Mount an Engine to an Engine Stand (FOOL PROOF)

  • In this video, we strip the engine block down to the point where we can mount it on our engine stand. Since removing it from the engine bay, there a a few things to strip. I was somewhat skeptical with only installing 4 small m10x1.5 bolts through the engine stand and into the engine block. They were grade 8 bolts and I was informed that they would indeed be strong enough, but it just doesn’t feel right. Anyways, if you are looking to buy the same bolts I used to mount my engine to the engine stand, you will need M10x1.5 x 100mm bolts, 4 of them to be more specific, along with 2 M10x1.5 nuts.
    On a side note, getting some kitty litter will 100% be helpful since if you’re taking your engine apart, there are many different fluids that will spill onto the ground, so be sure to get some to clean up your messes (I wish I was sponsored by arm & hammer so I could get free kitty litter lol)

Love your channel I’m definitely subscribing!

    It's a little risky but my plan as of now is to remove my engine from the bottom of the car and then put it on a pallet, then after that I can have a couple people help get the engine/stand piece assembly onto the main part while someone puts the pin in and makes sure it's secure while it's slowly being lowered. I'll have most if not all of the accessories off and the oil drained before putting it on the stand to save weight. I've already removed all of the accessories except the AC compressor and I might remove the timing cover too since I plan on replacing it. Time to get Car Mechanic Simulator back on my laptop.

    Your chains will outlast the straps not saying using straps is bad yeah you have the advantage of adjust a little easier but dont mislead by saying the chains will be worn in 5yrs they wont I'm using 30yr old 12ft chain to still pull people out of stuff those straps may last you a long time if taken cared for properly but its not comparable to the durability of chain and with that said it also comes fown to what you're building as well not all engines are the same

    Love the honesty and showing it's not a " easy " job. Good call on rebuilding. Upgraded parts and a full rebuild. You'll know and have peace of mind that you've done it all to your high standards. I know you don't plan on changing your DMF but look into it as your changing your clutch anyway and you're there. They do have a high failure rate from what I've read as people started doing conversions to single mass flywheels in modern cars at the expense of some vibration

    Weld fwd diff. I know wheel chirp, stress on CVs, but you wannabe a racer, not pro park master, also read there is a review of monstrous welded diff civic which controls extremely well.
    +Locked diff works like ABS no-one locked or both locked.
    + A bit of understeer in entry of turn, monstrous grip in mid-turn and great exit!
    + If you wanna be turning you need to go on throttle.
    + You'll da' best on rainy days
    + Cheap

    Milan, when you're removing or installing those really tight flywheel bolts, just get about 3 feet of rope and feed it into one cylinder through the spark plug hole. When you get the cylinder up to TDC it'll stop against the rope and allow you to remove the bolts. That'll come in handy when you reinstall the flywheel and have to use a torque wrench instead of an impact gun.

    • @milanmastracci
      @milanmastracci  6 років тому

      I want to see if I can get my hands on the tool that holds the flywheel to the engine block. Good idea though :)
