Going through this now in CT. The amount of hoops they make you jump through is wild. It's worth it though. I pray it all goes well, never had a violent felony...non violent felony...and I want a pardon for my gun rights and for employment to get better iobs.
I wish this was possible in the state of Massachusetts. When I was 19 violated probation which turned everything straight to guilty. Sentenced to 45 days released after 30 days. Never had another arrest again almost 30 years later and the immature choices still haunt and prevent many things. Nothing violent yet the state took my conceal carry and all state firearms rights away. Was able to get my record sealed but that only seals it from public and does not reinstate your rights to 2a. Cannot understand how a state can sentence you then strip your constitutional rights after you’ve paid that debt to society. If it was violent or sexual offense I’d understand but that state uses any offense to disqualify you. Heading toward 30 years of no issues and if that doesn’t demonstrate a change to law abiding citizen idk what does. The mind of an immature teen has the adult nearing 50 years old still paying the price. There really should be doors available to redeem yourself. I make it a mission to teach my children not to follow their friends in doing bad things for moral sake and a record that will haunt you. It’s a lifetime price that cannot be paid and moved on from.
You would think being in prison would be enough. But no lose rights end up with probation conditions end up in and out if jail. Pick up more charges .. circle tightens. I left the stste i was in and out of jail. Mostly drug charges got sober n out of trouble. Should be some hope for people who clean therr lives n dtsy out of trouble. Instead go for pardons which are near impossible. Multiple felonies forget it.
So, can a person just go down to the arresting county police department a request for a record seal or expungement first??? Then go for a pardon if that doesn't work... The pardon sounds like it takes way longer than applying for the seal or expungement... Some police stations do it upon your walking in and requesting.....
The police will not help with any of these records until they get an Order from Court telling them to clear it - that is what an expungement is. Misdemeanor and felony convictions need to be pardoned before they can be expunged.
@@markwalmer6692 yeah. My wife worked for a local police department in evidence. She sees people daily coming up requesting records sealed or expunged. I'm going the pardon clemency route. The application is online and it free to submit....
the police will not seal or expunge anything. they may give you a copy of your record. Sealing does not remove the conviction from the commonwealth computer, a pardon does.

Juvenile felonies never expunge themselves. I don't think juvenile records expunge themselves, but not all are reported on a background check - only felonies. All juvenile records are eligible for filing of an expungement petition. Start by contacting the county office and asking them if they still have your records. Then, I can review them.
All I see from guys like yourself is a lot of faults hope you tell us something can be done./ But don't tell anyone the key points like is there any avenues . Like Wich lawyer's can or will help. With little to no money.
Actually, all I do is explain the Pardon and Expungement process which DO clear appropriate criminal records. Reasonable fees with payment plans let me keep my doors open while trying to be accessible to those with limited incomes, usually, because of these criminal records. You can evaluate the lawyers who help and those who do not.

People shouldn't have to pay to have rights restored. It's their constitutional rights. If you've payed you're debt.
