So, can a person just go down to the arresting county police department a request for a record seal or expungement first??? Then go for a pardon if that doesn't work... The pardon sounds like it takes way longer than applying for the seal or expungement... Some police stations do it upon your walking in and requesting.....
The police will not help with any of these records until they get an Order from Court telling them to clear it - that is what an expungement is. Misdemeanor and felony convictions need to be pardoned before they can be expunged.
@@markwalmer6692 yeah. My wife worked for a local police department in evidence. She sees people daily coming up requesting records sealed or expunged. I'm going the pardon clemency route. The application is online and it free to submit....
the police will not seal or expunge anything. they may give you a copy of your record. Sealing does not remove the conviction from the commonwealth computer, a pardon does.

How does it work when the supreme Court said that the court acted with out the authority of the state and the court must void and vacate the sentence. But they don't do it
I wish this was possible in the state of Massachusetts. When I was 19 violated probation which turned everything straight to guilty. Sentenced to 45 days released after 30 days. Never had another arrest again almost 30 years later and the immature choices still haunt and prevent many things. Nothing violent yet the state took my conceal carry and all state firearms rights away. Was able to get my record sealed but that only seals it from public and does not reinstate your rights to 2a. Cannot understand how a state can sentence you then strip your constitutional rights after you’ve paid that debt to society. If it was violent or sexual offense I’d understand but that state uses any offense to disqualify you. Heading toward 30 years of no issues and if that doesn’t demonstrate a change to law abiding citizen idk what does. The mind of an immature teen has the adult nearing 50 years old still paying the price. There really should be doors available to redeem yourself. I make it a mission to teach my children not to follow their friends in doing bad things for moral sake and a record that will haunt you. It’s a lifetime price that cannot be paid and moved on from.
You may never know! Reach out to your state and local Bar Association or free-consult attorneys and ask about expungement and pardon services in your state!
@@recorderaser9938 I will seek a lawyer one day but in the state of Massachusetts it’s quite rare to win an expungement and a pardon from the governor is unheard of. They want to outlaw guns in MA so they enjoy not giving pardons and expungements. There is the newer youthful offender law that allows them to expunge if under 21 when it happened BUT if you had 2 arrests or more you don’t qualify. I have a friend that had a fight with someone at 17 years old and the case was done at 18 and he cannot get a firearms permit or carry permit because he also had traffic violations over 500 dollars. The state doesn’t believe in rehabilitation and most definitely doesn’t respect the constitution either. Thanks for your reply.

Juvenile felonies never expunge themselves. I don't think juvenile records expunge themselves, but not all are reported on a background check - only felonies. We completely understand how you feel, and many people share your frustration. It seems unfair to have to pay to restore rights, especially after already serving your time. Unfortunately, the current system requires legal steps to clear records or restore rights, but we try to make the process as accessible as possible. We offer affordable flat-rate services and payment plans, and we’re always willing to work with clients based on their budget. If you’d like to discuss your options, we’re here to help however we can.
