So Hollyleaf is wonderful, right? Who wouldn’t want to be her mate?
I should add as a clarification that I personally headcanon Hollyleaf as both asexual and aromantic, and I do know the difference between the terms. I used asexual in the video as shorthand for being asexual and aromantic on account of the former term being more popularly known.

I also kinda like that Holly didn't get a proper mate (at least in her mortal lifetime), as she together with very few characters (like Leopardstar and Mousefur) kinda breaks the "every she-cat must become a mum or die after just getting into a relationship" wall

Warriors really need more characters like Hollyleaf. Just have a relationship dynamic with a whole bunch of the cast because it helps both that character and the cast itself stand out. Double advantages.
Ivypool shouldn's have gotten a mate. If it was super necessary then give her a mate and no kits. Once ivypool became a queen she lost all her personality from omen of the stars and became like every other queen and it frustrates me cuz she my fav character. They should hv made fernsong so we can hv a first nursery dad in the series like they said they should do in the book and ivypool should hv kept being a warrior with her personality. Now im rambliing

Not really. The prophecy is about Jayfeather and Lionblaze, who's sister is Hollyleaf, being grandchildren of Firestar and Dovewing, who's sister is Dovewing, being a great grand-niece of Firestar. That particular relationship would be weird in the human world but Warriors has to deal with some level of familial relation pretty much all the time since they have such small and enclosed populations. It really only stands out because the prophecy primes readers to remember they're related, more than they are really.

I always imagine Hollyleaf being asexual. She just seems prefer having friends than mates, also focus on her ambitions.
Being asexual doesn’t mean you can’t have a mate/marry/be in a romantic relationship, it just means that you only/mostly just feel a romantic attraction towards them!

There was actually a part of a book when HollyLeaf saw CinderHeart with LionBlaze her heart sank, so it’s very possible that she was bisexual, but I do like to think at She is aromantic
Some people just don’t want to get married. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not against the idea of her being ace or aro, but I just don’t think that’s the case myself.
I love the ace Hollyleaf headcanon! But it could also be that she wasn’t asexual, just didn’t want to have kits. Though really, it’s up to self interpretation, and whatever you headcanon her as it’s valid (:

As an aro/ace person I could definitely see Holly as being aromantic asexual. It would be nice to have some representation.

I see her as Asexual and see her romantic attraction as lesbain (Since I ship her with Willowshine and Cinderheart) but if I probably didn’t have that emotional attachment to those ships, she’d definitely be aro in my eyes. (Also I’m aware that aros can be in relationships, I just think that it’s kinda more stereotypical to just say aro when I mean no relationships)

As interesting as a ship like Hollyleaf x Sol is, it really feels like to me that Sol was trying to use her for his own benefit. He baits her with answers to her personal issues, and even says this line (which is part of the reason I think people ship them):
“I left ShadowClan, but I cannot leave the lake yet...The Clans need me, they just haven't realized it yet. You need me, Hollyleaf.”
It’s just so chilling to me, and it reeks of manipulation.
Oh heck yes. I was never and will never suggest that they would be a healthy relationship. But in some shipping circles it could be interesting to add a bit of attraction to an already manipulative relationship to make the situation even more complicated.

i always loved the thought of them having a sibling/father and daughter dynamic. they never felt like they were in a romantic relationship but what relationship they DO and COULD have is so interesting to me. like they can be partners in crime (of course with sol manipulating hollyleaf into most if the ''evil'' things she does such as killing ashfur and attempting to kill leafpool)
i would die before shipping hollysol, but the dynamic if they were to wind up in a relationship is so very interesting to me. but only if it has a happy ending and she leaves him and realizes how horrible he was. part of why i like hollyleaf/fallen leaves is in a post-hollysol sort of context - hollyleaf is rattled by her trauma from sol’s manipulation, and has fallen leaves to vent to and to realize what a good mate actually looks like… sometimes the straights are alright
I def do not ship them, but him being predatory to someone desperate to be special and idk, maybe being a bit of a push towards her murder phase would have at least made him a wee more interesting of a villain, rather than the more common "Lets just ignore the social gap between this adult coded character and this minor coded character!" And then she also maybe could have killed his ass when she realized he was a manipulative creep, then killed ashfur, tries to kill leafpool, bombs her family unit as a whole and runs off screaming into the night. Like, Sol being only effective so far as creating a much more serious "Villain" that became his own downfall would have been more interesting for him and would have set her up for an interesting redemption for her. (She could also have died and been forced into the dark forest buuuuut ya know)
Why does every she-cat think they have to have kits?😝😑 This is why I love characters like Mousefur and Hollyleaf. They are both great hunters, fighters, and can show up the toms any day! Warriors needs more strong, independent, and tough she-cat's like them! I'm not saying a she-cat can't be all those things if they do have kits, but it's nice when they don't in my opinion.
Well the reason for that is most likely due to how society tends to say, even to this day, that every female should have children in their life. So when others hear girls say they don't want to have children they often react like Squirrelflight, or just ignore their statements. Though that's a whole other topic to explain fully about so I've just written an extremely short explanation on the topic.
@@dogsandcatsrule3856 Thank you for the explanation, but i am definitely one of those girls that don't want kids and I tend to be on the tomboy side, so i relate to characters like Mousefur and Hollyleaf. To your point, society (for some stupid reason) thinks that every female on the planet should have kids, but why does everyone have to follow society? I understand that the writers are trying to make it relatable and have the story some what resemble the real world but when it comes to creating characters, they should have different thoughts and opinions. In the world of warriors (especially when Bramblestar is leader) she-cats are almost expected to have kits for the good of the clan. (Which is kind of dumb from how many cats Thunderclan takes in) And if some she-cat's wanna do that, fine! Have at it! But, characters should have different thoughts and opinions which is why I don't understand why the majority of she-cats feel responsible for the role of a queen? All I'm saying is that it would be refreshing to have a few she-cats (that arn't med-cats) that could have a different point of view on the subject and maybe even rebel against society's stereotypes instead of following everybody else. Basic biology tells us that most females desire to have children of their own, in warriors even tough she cats like sandstorm and tawnypelt gave way to instinct, there's nothing wrong with that.

Why I think it's nice when she-cats don't have kits is because when they do it shows a lack of individuality, and the writers tend to weaken the she-cats the minute they get a mate or have kits. (Examples: Squirrelflight it Ivypool) I'm not saying all she-cats shouldn't have kits. They can if they want to. The point i was trying to make was that almost every she-cat in the books goes through the exact same story line of starting out strong, becoming softer once they get a mate, then have kitty's which changes their personality entirely. It would be nice if there was more she-cats that just wanted to be a warrior and not a queen, or a queen who's personality doesn't change even when they have kits. I get that when someone does have kids they do become softer, but from a writing and character perspective it starts to get old fast.
Edit: Even if no one agrees with me on the she-cat subject, y'all at least have to agree that it was completely out of character or IVYPOOL to have kits!

Being Asexual doesn’t mean you can’t love someone! It just means that you only feel romantic attraction, or you have less sexual attraction towards people than others.

I headcanon Hollyleaf as asexual as well, being ace myself, but sexual attraction is different from romantic attraction. I'm gonna be honest, I ship/have shipped her with nearly every cat you brought up in this video except Breezepelt and Ashfur XD.
Why would anyone actually ship her with Breezepelt? Ivypool is fine, they're related so distantly by Warriors standards, but why would anyone want to ship her with her HALF-BROTHER?! I don't think Ashfur works either.

@@yzmathehufflepuff6631 i shipped her with breezepelt before i learned they were related lmao. but then ive always stuck to a headcanon/au that her and breezepelt were best friends (or at least friends) and they actually bonded alot. their personalities were similar imo even before holly found out shes not squilf's kid. i think in the battle against the dark forest breezepelt would see hollyleaf's death and would finally fully realize what he's done and tahts why he so quickly changed personalities after omen of the stars and why everyone forgave him and he had heathertail's kits

They ship them?! Oh God but their platonic relationship is so sweet and Needle took care of Violet like a mom. It's so weird to know that people just can't see two girls or two boys interacting, no matter what they're doing or who they mean to each other (like Tigerstar x Scourge WTF?!!) and say "OMG they're definitely gay/lesbian!"

Aromantic would be a more accurate description, since asexuals can have romantic feelings, date and get married. Aro/ace is also fine but just being asexual doesn't mean one wouldn't get a romantic partner.
As an asexual aromantic person, I can relate to this sentiment of "who says you need a partner anyways."
Hollyleaf, the main character than turns evil, gets an actual character redemption, and truthfully just had a great character arc. It truthfully makes sense that she has so many options for ships lol. Love this video cause I know I had no clue how many different ships she has!
Oh my God, I am so with you on this. As someone who is aromantic, I really love seeing some representation and warriors, even if that wasn’t necessarily what they were going for.

I completely agree. I am an aroace Hollyleaf headcanoner. I love Holly x Fallen Leaves, but only as a platonic soulmates kind of thing.
Even as a kid I always personally saw Hollyleaf as asexual, but I thought that it was possible for her to have romantic attraction. I've never been sure on that last part (of the first sentence in my comment, that is). Being Homoromantic and Asexual myself Hollyleaf was the first fictional character I really could connect to (especially with her being a relentless perfectionist on herself, having a strong moral code, and always wanting to help the others she cared about as well). Personally I either ship her with Fallen Leaves or Cinderheart, but if any of you disagree that's perfectly fine! After all each one of us is unique in our own ways so of course its only natural to have different opinions.

there needs to be more aspec-like characters and friendship focused relationships in warriors. Almost every protagonist has a romance plot at some point in the books :/
I personally really like *Hollyleaf x Fallenleaves* when she was at her lowest and needed someone to talk to he was their and listened and when she wanted to go back he let her go even though he knew he would be alone again and maybe it would work since I am sure ghost can’t have kits

I never thought of her as someone who was interested in romance, even before I knew what being aroace was (or that I was aroace). she's been my favorite since fifth grade, I loved her relationship with fallen leaves just as friends and it never even occurred to me to read it romantically...
Also, while answering questions on her facebook, vicky holmes kinda refused to confirm whether or not hollyleaf & fallen leaves were mates, only noting that they had "a special bond." so it's really, really weird that the warriors website just... went and Did that with the family tree....
I don’t ship Hollyleaf with anyone. Hollyleaf doesn’t really feel like that type or gal. I also just want at least one cat in ThunderClan to not want a mate or kits. If you think about it, Hollyleaf is the only protagonist besides Shadowsight who never wanted a mate. Even medicine cat characters like Jayfeather and Alderheart fall in love with Half Moon and Velvet respectively. And then in Dawn of the Clans, Grey Wing gets 2 mates, Clear Sky gets 3, and Thunder still gets Violet Dawn. In total, they had 16 kits, which includes adopted kits. I’m not saying that I don’t like love interests in Warrior Cats, it’s just so often they are butchered beyond belief and the fact that Hollyleaf never went through this stupid arc, just makes me happy. Okay bye.

HOLLYLEAF IS MY FAVOURITE CHARACTER TOO! I personally ship her with Fallen Leaves (although acearo Hollyleaf makes a lot of sense!) And I really like that she has a lot of ship options. I really think that the background apprentices in PO3 were really well written and probably the best written group of ThunderClan apprentices since the original arc - and the majority of them did seem to get along pretty well with Hollyleaf!

I think the story wouldve been much better uf sol successfully brainwashed hollyleaf because then the story has to focus on sol for more than just 2 books. Then also hollyleaf wouldnt kill ashfur so the next ark ashfur is able to make a group that is on his side for when he rebels it will be more than just ashfur.

We could hv had this whole story where leafpool left thunderclan to eaise her kits in windclan with crowfeather then lionblaze and jayfeather hv to sneak away at night to see dovewing. Like that lionblaze wont treat dovewing specialy in front of ivypool and she would never hv joined the dark forest and that would be intresting
I have this au where Crowfeather is told about the situation, brings the kits to WindClan, and lies that they were abadoned by their mother and he brought them to WindClan territory because he started to smell fox, and WindClan accepted the kits when no cat in the other clans reported any missing kits
because forbid any clan get more than one book of screentime, let alone a prophesied cat or prophecy. And if they do, *it probably has something to do with ThunderClan*

In fact, the only main character that lives is Ivypool. Also I made Icewing eventually become leader of RiverClam because SHE'S ONE OF THE BEST CHARACTERS AND SHE'S SO UNDERRATED!

She trained in the dark forest, was part of the prisoners of the Kin, and was just recently exiled from RiverClan because she disobeyed Mistystar in fighting the impostor. She's actually really interesting and one of the few background characters I've really hung onto

First of all I love cult of asexual Hollyleaf. Her being my fav wrriors character, her feelings on having a family and a partner heavily resonated with young ace me.
However as a lot of asexuals, myself included still often form romantic relationships I do like to engage with shipping. My personal headcanon for Hollyleaf is asexual homoromantic, and I ship her Willowshine because I just think their dynamic is cute, though Cinder x Holly is a close second.
Also on the "friends to lovers"- best friends to lovers is the best trope, tested out in real life 100% recommend (that way you can see if they are good cuddle buddies early on).

You know...I don't think there's a single she-cat in Warriors that had a mate and then died without ever having had kits. There are only she-cats who died never having had either.

I'm demi, not ace, and I was always sad her not wanting kids/ a mate could have been a much bigger part of her storyline (And also part of my gripe that the biggest fix thee series "needs" is condensing, but I digress) It could have been her base urge for becoming a medicine cat- everyone else sees relationships and kids as natural and I don't, ergo I must be a medicine cat because that's the only role not having those are normal in. It could have been a growing source of isolation from her clan- being the only person not "Getting it" can be lonely in a way that's very unique, especially since its a hidden issue. and if if she becomes a warrior, she could have had a lingering doubt around the first point, and thinking her being "forced" into a warrior role was why she felt out of place- only to find out a medicine cat is her mom and no, being a medicine cat doesn't mean you are ace by default- And that she's not special like her siblings, and might in fact just have something wrong with her? (because their society doesn't have a concept of ace identities) Ooof. Thats 100% enough to send someone over the edge. I think that would have been a way more messy (In a good way) and interesting lead up to her killing ashfur than just "I want to be powerful and special," which is all her motivations really felt like to me.
The lingering idea that you don't belong, or something is wrong with you; juxtaposed with the idea that you are unique and special, can lead to some very dark and desperate places. It can lead to hypocrisy, it can leave you wide open for manipulation, it can make you do stupid shit entirely out of character to prove something to yourself.
Comparing her to someone like Ivypool- who straight up went to the dark side for cookies because she wanted to be as special as her sister and be a useful part of her community- I just feel like holly leaf got done dirty just because the characters didn't know what to do with her. If I could do anything with these books, It would probably have her fall from grace be about rejecting that part of her identity to her detriment, and her redemption also be centered on accepting that part of herself and returning to her clan knowing that her value isn't from some prophecy, or her ability to have kids- it's from her skills and her loyalty, and her friendship. Thats shes enough without being born with super powers or a mate and kids.

There are quite a bit of ships I've seen that didn't get onto the list. Bramblestar has been shipped with Stormfur and Ashfur, Leafpool has been shipped with Nightcloud, Jayfeather has been shipped with Cinderheart, Puddleshine, Flametail, Fallen Leaves, and Kestrelflight, and Dovewing has been shipped with Briarlight.

I realized now that I know what Aromantic Asexuals are and realized I am myself, It makes sense why Hollyleaf was my favorite character and that she probably is too. I always saw her relationship with Ivypool as more of a mentor or role model relationship. That and they are related. Ew. She also hates Sol after she realizes he was using her.

I shipped her with Fallen Leaves because a. I remember their dynamic better and b. There wouldn't have been any pressure about kits since they're on different planes of existence. Because even if she ended up with one of the she cats there could've been that kind of pressure or the subject being tackled very gracelessly and just annoying readers. Also I just like romances involving ghosts.
Don’t get me wrong I love Hollyleaf, I love her so much as to call her my #1 favourite character- well- why else would I have clicked on this I’m searching for Hollyleaf stuff heh, But I do like that she didn’t get a mate, honestly if anybody I’d ship her with willowshine- haha (Cinderholly is also good lol) - Like why else would she go all the way to riverclan to check up on them? Anyways, I do like it. She sounded petrified at the fact that all she cats are ‘meant’ to have kits, why, yes, she could have a mate and not have kits, but if the writers did, while she was alive, they most likely would’ve forgotten all about that talk, and proceed to give her kits, kinda ruining the thought she had as an apprentice/kit (I think)

Hazeltail, briarlight, honeytail (though still being in the nursery), firefern (not stormheart because I believe she is the cat most likely to be mistfeather's missing mate), ebonyclaw, icecloud, leafshade, hollytuft, honeyfur, random super edition background she cats, and probably more are some she cats that never take a mate or kits that we know of, and ones we don't think of. If hollytuft, honeyfur or leafshade had kits then I'm sorry I'm only on book 4 of avos.
In my warriors au there is only one thing that I did to holly leaf, she went to the dark forest instead, escaped and annoys any clan (mostly the leader of said clan) by asking for death berries and why the dark forest isn’t so bad by saying it has hugs and cotton candy, jay feather is still my fave cat tho in the whole series
while i am strongly on board the lesbian hollyleaf headcanon (mostly because i am a lesbian), aro hollyleaf is also valid as fuck and i will defend it to hell and back

i know this was posted two years ago but the proper term would be aroace, since asexual is just the disinterest in intimate attraction. me and my boyfriend are both asexual but we still love each other! since holly isn't interested in romance or kits she would be aroace and not just asexual or aromantic

I like to think that cinderheart liked Hollyleaf more than a friend but holly didn’t really love her like that back. Pretty much the same thing but with fallen leaves aswell. I think that most of these ships with her were one sided crushes much like bluefur and thrushpelt

Honestly, I don't know. I'm not much of a shipper in general, and I enjoy Hollyleaf's friendships too much to consider one more important than another, or enough to be romantic when others aren't. I think Hollyleaf being a lesbian, or lesbian asexual is the next best option after her being aroace so probably a she-cat, and I'd probably give preference to friendships that were closer to being developed in the canon itself, so Cinderheart, Willowshine, or Hazeltail, but I don't know that I could pick between them. They all have their pros and cons.
I didn't even know about some of these ships especially like the one with sol I don't ship hollyleaf with ivypool cinderheart sol hazel tail or icecloud there's no reason to ship her with these cats
Wouldn't it be aroace? Cause, asexual on its own is just the lack of sexual attraction, while adding aromantic into the mix would make the last of romantic attraction. The two aren't the same, and I really hope you don't think sexual and romantic attraction is the same thing. (-from a heteroromantic asexual)

I get Ace vibes from Mothwing, Leopardstar and mousefur but honestly? I don't imagine her aromantic just asexual. I think especially after the tunnels and lack of family I just saw Fallen Leaves become everything she needed. If nothing else I would see those two teetering on a Bluesyar and Thrushpelt level. Best friends that are extremely close. People can even assume closer than close. But not quite stepping over that last line. Almost Like Spottedleaf and Firestar
I agree Holly shouldn't have a mate! I used to ship her a ton with Cinder, and then Ivy when she came "back to life" but honestly I really liked how she didn't have a mate, and I liked Ivypool a lot for the same reason until... yeah
