    Well done John. A comprehensive comparison in every permutation short of driving off a cliff ! Great design of experiments and proof enough that Adamesh stage 2 is the way to go.
    Just think in decades to come when most cars will be electric and discerning people will seek out these classic V8’s and especially those upgraded with the thumping heartbeat....

    I'm catching up with some older TtG videos. This one's ace. I saw it a couple of years ago and went and ordered a St 1&2 Ademesh system pronto. I got my local garage to fit ( reasonable price, but the guy said the St2 bit was pretty tricky). So my experience is; firstly the sound is brilliant, at idle and acceleration inside and out and it's changed the whole driving experience for the better! What a lovely sound! I have an '03 XKR soft top. Here is some additional feedback; At start up from cold, the initial bark from the exhaust is pretty loud. This soon quietens as the engine idle slows. Some more sensitive neighbours might object to your early morning start ups! As John indicated drones are possible, but not in his XK - with the St1&2 fitted to mine however, I get a drone at about 1500rpm under mild acceleration. This tends to coincide with auto box favourite gear change up ie. tends to drone up the gears under normal driving up to 60mph. Not sure if this can be fixed.. Easy remedy is to use the J gate and keep the gear changes longer. Or just put your foot down! Some would find this boom excessive and would maybe prefer the St 1 only if this boom occurred. Might just be my car and keeping the St2! More of an issue to be aware of is when I took the car in to a specialist last year for routine auto-box service (flush and filters etc), they added a fair bit to the bill due to the extra time it took them to do the job (changing the filters needed the pipes to come off and took more time apparently)..

    • @ToTheGarage

      Great extra intel for anyone else considering the St1 and St 2 exhaust Richard. sometimes the boom is down to a loose or dropping rear bumper. Go give yours a good wiggle just in case👍

    stage 2 is well not my cup of tea, as just not refined - not in keeping with a GT car! Thanks for the video though very helpful for everyone as sound is a matter of taste or lack of. stage 1 was much more in keeping and more Jag like although in do know the F-type is a bit loud as are certain XF's but this is an old school Jag not the new pretender. Would be interesting to see what these exhausts would do to an XKR which naturally are louder anyway due to the FI effect. I'll let you fit the stage 1 on mine! lol

    Great job John. Thanks for documenting all the work nicely stitching the results back-to-back. Probably took you twice as long with the filming and additional editing.
    There is one more setup available to you that I’ve not seen (heard) that would be very interesting to compare, if you’re a glutton for punishment: Replacing the over-axle boxes and keeping the stock back-boxes. Just for science sake of course. I would expect that would give you most of the extra HP of stage-2 and to be slightly quieter but deeper in tone than stage-1. Just a thought if you get bored.
    - Cheers

    Put on a stage 2 without the one mainly because I couldn't stand the idea of driving around with those squashed tailpipes. Gives a very slight difference in sound. Only can really tell when I start in the garage. My muffler man thinks I should replace the center resonator box next. I'm afraid it's going to drone at speed which I absolutely do not want. • @ToTheGarage
      @ToTheGarage  3 роки тому +1

      Good request. But!
      we will have to rely on someone else sending in those video clips Kuddlesworth NA. Its a rabbit hole I don't want to go down. Unless you do all three runs on the same dyno within a day with the same car, temperature, and humidity. then its not very scientific. I used to sprint race a nice kit car with a nicely tweaked engine. At the time I had a friend who ran a high end rolling road mainly tuning single seaters
      We got 15 Bhp on 5 runs difference over a 7 day period. 188, 192, 183, 196, 181,
      (Wheel Dyno with high velocity blown air system.) We put it down to variable UK weather and the Last but one run it was foggy & last run coming after the tyres had gone past their best on the track.
      And we cant compare each others dyno readings as some dynos are weighted for vanity, and will often quote Engine BHP which unless its an engine dyno, means that have just multiplied. the recorded HP by a factor.
      Dont get me wrong its something im interested in myself. Its just not easy to share with others in a way that does not cause arguing or bragging. neither of which light my candle.
      Volunteers anyone.👍

      Can the gasses still mingle and interact well at. the 'fused' point? If so it can be a really good way to go. The centre box is where the scavenging effect can be improved or broken, and if you get it wrong you can lose some of the low RPM torque. If you have the sound you like with no perceived ill effect on lower RPM grunt then mission accomplished Larry👍👍. Nice to hear from you. Hope you are well.
