what a coincidence! I've been thinking heavily about fitting the adamesh exhaust on my 97 XK8 and now you're making a video on it! perhaps its a sign...
Great video John. I changed mine to the same exhaust last year. I have not regretted it!
Good to hear!
Great video John. Can't wait for the next one. I have the same system. I did not realize an approximate 20hp gain. I expected more like 5hp
That pipe restriction is epic!
Awesome video and looking forward to see the removal and installation videos. Im getting the stage 1&2 systems soon so these videos will be my go to, thankyou!
Coming soon!
Looking forward to this vídeo John, I've been thinking about installing the Adamesh exhaust on my 99 XKR for quite some time, but the issue we have here in Spain comes when you have to go through the annual compulsory inspection (ITV), and it's that you can get a "Not Favourable" because the noise level might be too high. So probably installing only 1 stage can work rather than installing both stages. I'm looking forward to your videos, I'm sure you will throw some light into it...
Can't wait for the 'fit'. I had a few small problems with mine, but in my defence I did fit it lying on my back with the car on ramps. As you know John I have had it off since to replace the subframe, and even on a lift I haven't managed to get both sides looking the same from the rear.
John, you probably already know, but just in case you have forgotten, make sure that you put some good quality anti-scuffing paste on the two stainless bolts that hold the tail pipe brackets to the tail pipe. I didn't and one 'picked up' as I was tightening it, and I sheared it trying to get it off. 😒
Note to self: - get a new stainless bolt and fit it (WITH anti-scuffing paste).
Great Tip Alan Thank you. Anti Scuffing paste going on shopping list now
Great video John...its just so intresting hearing your explanation beyond just where you bought it..
Really looking forward to next one..very best to you in your presentations.
Glad you enjoyed it. Thank you Joey Joey
John, nice job as always. I have been mulling over this mod ever since I purchased my XKR last July and look forward to your comparisons. BTB...."fart cannon"?! I do so enjoy those colloquialisms from the mother country.
😁 Also Known as a trump tube! but lets not go there..
Now you are talking John!! :) I have my car booked in next week with Surrey Jag centre for just the rear box removal. Not sure if I should go with the full through system. I'll get the back boxes removed and see how I get on. If I think it needs more volume, I'll get the centre removed later.
Thanks for another interesting video, John! I learned a lot again! First of all: James Bond's Aston may have built-in machine guns, my car has peashooters :-) But the cutouts on the rear bumpers on my 2004 car seem to be smaller compared to Purdy.... not sure about that. I'm looking forward to the sound comparison with the Adamesh-System - although I have to admit: I love the stealth power, as you called it, of my standard XK8 :-)
I fitted the stage 1 pipes 18 months ago to my 2004 xkr and tomorrow I've got the stage 2 pipes coming.
Tomorrow will be a good day
I just did the exhaust on my str it roars now ,cool vid mate enjoy
Thanks Jamie 👍
I fitted front and rear to my 1997 XK8 convertible around 4/6 weeks ago.
Great sound but can drone at about 40 to 50MPH if in drive.
Easily cured by driving on the J gate, which I do a lot of the time...just go 3rd.
The overrun sound is something else...howls like an Aston.
Oooo Overun. Yum Yum Yum😁
The way the tail pipe is makes it seem that there is a lot of overhang.
Thank you Dr. John
You are very welcome
I need to install stage 1 on my XKR SIlverstone. Other than that, I will modify the catalyst, converting to 200 cells. Do you have experience in this?
Perish from Italy.
Not done it myself (just an expense thing) but as soon as my cats start to break up I will be fitting 200 cell sports cats
Looks fantastic: My car has the stainless rear pipes with larger stainless oval exits obtained from David Roche of Jaguar Parts in Aberdeenshire. Sound is fantastic.....Next to go might be the pipes that loop up over the rear axle.
Is David Roche still trading?
@@ToTheGarage Not sure about now....my invoice is dated a few years ago. I have a stage 1 and it was 165 pounds plus shipping to Canada
@@richardsmith9509 I tried to get in contact with them on a couple of occasions in November and heard nothing back🤔 so maybe not trading at the moment?
@@ToTheGarage Certainly very possible...
Excellent video. I replaced my back boxes only with a kit bought from DCR parts, Inverness. Managed the job in 4 hrs start to finish on axle stands. My car is a 2006 registered XK8 so had the space to fit the dual tips. Good quality parts made the job quite doable for the DIY specialist. Love the videos, helps me no end.
Dont forget to notify your insurance company of this modification John.
Of course👍
Would you happen to know if there are any aftermarket headers for the xk8 ??
Not personally aware of any off the shelf items but I imagine they are out there. I think a company called Swallow may do them. Obviously there are loads of places that will fabricate you bespoke ones.
I have the Adamesh Stage 1& 2 on my 2006 XK8 convertible best sound for the XK 8 in my opinion. And the oval exhaust tips look great over stock ones
Couldn't agree more!
Gentlemen! Greetings from the US (California). I just bought a 2006 XK8 convertible. I absolutely love it. Thanks for the video John! I will inquire if Adamesh has a US version.
@@raymondalejo5301 they do I purchased mine and had it shipped to Arizona. It was still cheaper that anything on the market here.
@@a.pwhiteside5872 Thanks for info! I went on their website, do you recommend emailing/contacting them first?
@@raymondalejo5301 I think I placed my order and sent an email as follow up to confirm shipping and order info
Very nice. I have the Mina exhaust and an X-pipe in the middle, so basically just a resonator on either side. There's some videos on my channel, it sounds great.
It does sound superb Jacob👍
Looks good John, think I will have a look later in the year. Might price up st/st clamps so there is no dissimilar metal corrosion in later years. Shouldn’t be as Adamesh will know what coatings properties are.
Hello John, so much to learn, thank you for your info. Q: if I change stage 1 only would it affect the smog requirements in the US. I'm sure you know or can direct me to a source
It should have no effect whatsoever. There is no smog control in the back boxes. but speak to the people at Adamesh👍
John , Mine was put on by an exhaust shop and all the pipes were welded together. I hate the round clamps:
Despite my brave words. When you see the exhaust go on, you will note that I weakened and have replaced the supplied clamps with more elegant ones.
I like your videos. Is it 20hp each you get? Total 40hp?
😁 I like your thought process Tommy👍. But sadly no😔. Its 20Hp total
R Mitch USA '99 XK8; Thanks John nice video. Can you tell me where people can buy rubber isolator that the over axle hook attaches to. I've heard they have been discontinued.
I may have to buy some so will let you all know soon
I have been thining of just getting the Stage 1 for a while. I don't want a drone at cruisng though so I have put it off for a long time.
yep, I am with you. Don't want the drone. What's the stage 1? is that the centre box or the rear boxes?
@@TheJVCMan i believe stage 1 is the rear boxes, closest to the exhaust tips
@@rileyvansuetendael629 cool. that's what I am going for next week. The guys I am talking say that that's the best mod for better sound but no drone at high speeds.
Yes stage one is the back box deletion
@@ToTheGarage Thanks John.
Great video!
Do you know how the sound is by ONLY going to stage 2 compared to ONLY stage 1? The car can’t be too loud but at the same time I want to hear it when I floor it.
Hello. I have a 2000 S-Type 4.0. The car has quite low mileage- 27,102. I am not sure if that makes a difference when installing a sport exhaust. Could you please recommend a unit for my vehicle.
i would lean toward a louder rumble as you did. Reside in the US. Thank you.
Not had an S type myself Perry but check this out

Thank you John. Seems perfect.
Hello John I just emailed adamesh for more information regarding their exhaust. I also informed them that your UA-cam channel and reply was how I discovered their product. Thanks again.
Do they have the same kind of exhaust system for Blu?
Unfortunately not
Hi John what sort of price is this system ,great vid.👍👍
Total is currently £500 on the Adamesh website (or £550 with quad tips).
As LJ W says below, the same as mine would be about £500 for the lot.
@@ToTheGarage Have you thought about fitting those underside metal braces that stiffen the car up?
WARNING...WARNING... Entering Mid-Life Crisis....😳
😳
That was ages ago:)
I can never understand UA-cam and these comments. I seem to have dropped out of the live chat
Who gives a shit. That Jag is a piece of crap. Save your money and buy a Toyota.
