    The sewage treatment plant in wheeler bottom had machinery in their ponds last Monday and it was turning the whole river brown.

      @fishinwithish I was wondering why half the river was clear and half muddy by the police station. Ride up the trail and thought it'd be dunbsr creek, but it was clear. Then saw what they were doing in the sewage plant and figured that was the culprit. It smelled pretty bad too

    That's just crazy man! It's really tragic those muskies are dying. I agree that it's good your fisheries are being cared for by people who actually care. Glad you caught some smallies, but you better start doing a rain dance before it is too late!

    Interesting video. I’d heard a little about it. We had a fungicide spill in my local system 2 years ago- it killed every species. Huge bass and catfish dead too. Hoping this is some sort of natural phenomenon related to back to back fall and spring droughts with crazy winter flows…

      I think I remember you talking about that in a video awhile back, I hope your right too I just went back to see if more are dying and I didn't see any new deaths. Still some fish floating down below the bridge tho. Whatever it was hopefully its over with now🙏

      @@B.A.Bassangler I've mainly fished above the spill origins. It's fishing ok. Some bigs, but not a lot of smaller fish in my experience. Used to be I could always catch handful of them, now some days it's a challenge. Also virtually no Rock bass, which are often a water quality indicator. And used to be almost nuisance level. Maybe the after effects?

    Saw you on Kdkk. I’m happy this was brought to the public’s attention. I still think there’s more to it than spawning stress and low water levels. Why are the big Muskies dyin?

    • @fishinwithish
      @fishinwithish  Рік тому +1

      There could be more to it than that, I ran through a couple different theories with them and the spawning theory ia the one they used from what I said. Its hard to really say, nothin more seems to be dying. Went out today and seen suckers musky pike walleye smallies trout all alive n well through this section. Hopefully its over and everything is good now

    3 things of note:
    1. Bottom feeders are dieing, trout don't bottom feed.
    2. The sulfur seems to be alittle high where your fishin, red on the rocks.
    3. I seen they did a water test at yough park & it's not safe to swim in it.

    • @fishinwithish
      @fishinwithish  Рік тому +1

      Well no carp were found deas yet only suckers, and they both eat pretty much anything. I agree trout dont bottom feed but trout were brought up in the idea of a toxic spill. The test was for ecoli which you are correct in it not being safe to swim but ecoli is always in the water with varying levels. I believe ecoli is dangerous for us but not the fish, but thats a partial assumption because I have never heard of fish dying from ecoli.

      @@fishinwithish All valid points. I wonder if sulfur from the mines are effecting anything. I'm just popping ideas out there. I really don't know either.

      @fishinwithish  Рік тому +1

      @@Thejefflindsay Idk the spot I was at is a good bit below the bridge and most of the deaths seem to of started above that bridge. That sulfur or mine runoff which ive been told is actually acid has been there since I was a kid. It has gotten alot worse tho, but ive also seen even worse in some creeks and honestly looked like baitfish/chubs loved being in that orange creek hahha. So im doubtful that sulfur is killing fish.

      Quick question...what's the muskies main diet in that river! If their main diet is it smaller suckers, then we may be getting closer to some answers! It's sumping that the suckers are eating directly & whatever the muskies are eating have been directly eating off it also! Suckers love immature allege (slimy transparent stuff... same as smaller fish (shade & other things) but carp stop feeding on that stuff very early in their life as far as suckers they feed on it their entire life..... soooo hears my theory & from what I'm reading it may be the most complete theory out there! Start by focusing on the different types of Algae & it's subspecies then focus on what species thrives off eating & absoring the most sulfur & things with a lower ph (the more acidic side).... & it can happen fast..... like boom! A leak up stream sets some sulper lose.... & it's not harmful to the fishery as a hole because the parts per million aren't high enough, but if theres a plant in the fishery that feeds off that sulfur...then u have a problem because now u have a viable part of your water ways... feeding & soaking up what sulfur it can, then comes giving it a way higher ppm then the water way as a whole...then along comes a school of suckers big & small, they feed then b4 the sulfur enfested algae kills them the school as it starts to die...looking weaker as they make their way down stream they encounter musky! Now u have to shake the theory down even more to figure out why just these two species are effected & it goes down like this....shade, minnows, bream...yes they eat the same stuff, butt how much & what parts of that algae their eating actually holds the sulfur! My theory is once the suckers get to a certain size is when then can actually start eating the algae thats mature enough to eat & absob the harmful sulfur amounts..... so if it's sulfur, that's how it can kill two species in a water way & not all who eat algae or sumping like small & large mouth bass that can't quit eat that teenage size sucker that's just old enough to feed on that mature & very deadly algae! Sorry for the length of this comment, my sugar was & is still low...🙏🏻again sorry for the detail & length of message🙏🏻

    • @fishinwithish
      @fishinwithish  Рік тому +2

      @@thomasbowen737 well I know muskies do eat suckers creekchubs and trout primarily. Maybe more Im not positive, I dont have all that much knowledge on them yet. Thats very interesting to hear about the suckers eating alage their whole lives and how carp stop eating it after awhile. I never heard that but it makes alot of sense! Your theory does make alot of sense and I like the amount of thought that went into it! The only thing is as of now, there are no new deaths happening. Its likely we will never really know exactly what happened, but your theory is a very good one! Thanks for commenting and watching!

    I seen where they tested the river and the water failed with ecoli warning. Would that harm the fish at all?

    • @fishinwithish
      @fishinwithish  Рік тому

      I personally dont think it would, but if it could that leads to ask why would ecoli only kill one species of fish? So my answer is it wouldnt kill one species of fish so I also dont think ecoli would harm the fish.

    • @fishinwithish

      Just read the CBS article; what a joke...1st it's blame the river rally, then it's the levels were in the red and E-Coli may have put=em over the top...but it's TOTALLY OK to swim in E-Coli water.
      Not me, too much mistrust with what's going on, I wear waders all the time now. I don't even care if they leak a little, just don't want my nicks and cuts marinading in poop.

      @fishinwithish  Рік тому

      @@cannonball7322 haha yeah I mean my opinion on ecoli is... Ecoli is always in the water, so why would it kill the fish? The levels of ecoli always go higher when the water flow is low. I assume because it doesnt wash out as fast and has time to build up? But either way there has been ecoli in the river since I was born so ecoli killing fish is last on my list of culprits. I also doubt it was any kind of toxic spill or even anything damgerous to a human, because I have been wading that river or floating it almost every single day since the start of this.
