Hi Welcome To fISHing With ISH You Tube Channel!!! I fish the Youghiogheny River in Pennsylvania Primarily for Big Smallmouth bass, BUT in doing so also manage to catch Largemouth, Trout, Muskie, Northern Pike, and even Catfish! Usually on a kayak of some sort, but also do a lot of bank fishing! Also manage to venture out to other bodies of water including the Monongahela River and hopefully will start to branch out into Some other major river systems in PA.

My family and and I actually recently got a rafting trip on that area of water sort of but I was eyeing up all the fishing spots great to see you fish those especially by where the take out is
Yeah, you would be surprised how many fish will sit in this kind of crazy water! Thanks for watchin!!!
That trip looked like a lot of fun even if you didn't fish. Catching fish was just a bonus, especially the last one. Mike's doing really well, that was some crazy water
It was a great trip! A little sketchy, definitely not something to do every weekend🤣🤣🤣 mike is starting to get pretty comfortable with the new boat. Thanks for watchin Chris!!!
The one rowing would be walking 💯
Well we're all new to this type of thing. Gotta crawl before you can walk.
Do you think that if you ran the tag end through the eye twice , it would work ?
Not sure, would just have to try it n see what happens.
Not my favorite snell. Why use a green backround and green line?
The line was clear. Everybackground made the line look the same so I just went with the green.
I'm sorry, your right in this the line was green, my original videos had clear n was hard to see. All I had was a green background, I can see this just fine didn't think there was an issue with visibility?
Black mold on a fish 😂😂
hahaha that's what it looked like!!!🤣🤣🤣 Thanks for watchin!
@@fishinwithish yea ik that was crazy 😂
Nice job! I've caught more smallmouth in the rivers on a wacky rigged senko than any other bait. Usually fish it weightless on a size 1 dropshot hook, but will sometimes use a 1/16 oz wacky jighead. Almost always use fluorocarbon because it sinks better, and just let the bait bounce along the bottom with the current. Bites can be hard to determine. Usually the line just stops, and they start swimming with it.
Thanks Joe! That wacky rig definitely works! Thanks for the tips! I'm sure the wacky rig will be making an appearance in the future once I get the details of the rig figured out. Thanks for watchin Joe!
I didn't realize that was brandon. Been awhile since we've seen him...hi Brandon. Team work to get through them rapids, you all looked like you had fun
Haha yeah he's been pretty busy with stuff. It was definitely fun
This video came up when I got on UA-cam today, I never watched this video. I completely forgot you broke your arm, this was pretty impressive. So after watching, I remembered how you ask everyone what the first video they watched was on your channel. Mine was when you were on the rocks/cliff up the mountains. I think maybe you saw a snake. I don't remember, so I think I'm gonna rewatch it. That could have been your very first video.
Haha so that video along with any other video that was not fishing related was taken down. I still have the video of that tho, so if u really wanna watch it I can out it up unlisted and then send u a link for it.
@@fishinwithish yes, I'd like that. I went through your videos and realized it wasn't on there. I figured you prolly took it down. It would be fun to see how much changed from your first videos til now
That was a crazy trip, was nervous watching you cause ive flipped more than one canoe in that kind of water.
It was crazy! That boat is a bests tho, thanks for watchin!!!
Great job guys! Mike sniffing the fish like that was pretty funny. Hahaha.
Hahahah I never even knew he did that until ai was editing and it had me in tears 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 thanks for watchin!!!
Great video bro! Had to have been a blast! Reminded me of my days in Wyoming on the Snake River, only toned down a bit. Thanks Ish!!! Mike's an animal!!
Thanks!!! Haha I can't wait to go again!!! Hopefully with some clear water next time🤣 haha I'm sure there are guys out there that would laugh at these kinds of rapids, but to me there still pretty crazy!!! Thanks for watchin matt!!!

Sorry, but I gotta say it. Some things/places need to remain isolated and sacred. I'm afraid of how this video could impact my favorite stretch. What would it cost me to have you take this video down? Seriously.
This float is isolated and sacred... but it's that way for a reason. Very few people want to go n deal with this. The only people that would are the people who raft ohiopyle.. and you can't tell me this video will all of a sudden make them say, "Oh hey, I didn't know the river continued!!!" I mean, who do you honestly think is going to watch this and put in the rest of the work to float this section??? And the few people who may search this out n go Def aren't the drunks sitting along the river with nightcrawlers... this stretch is not a secret at all, it will remain without people because like I said very few people will want to deal with what it takes yo go there and the few that may go aren't going to hurt anything. I do not want your money.
@fishinwithish Amen Amen Amen Ish!! How disrespectful to a man who loves the Yough as one of his own children. Would you sell a child? The Yough is a wild river, and believe me, I know what it takes to do what these fine gentlemen do! Don't worry about people going there who are slobs. THEY CAN'T DO IT!!!! Peace.
Time will tell. Hope you're right.
@@matthewh117thanks matt! I do understand where nkar is coming from... I have years of videos and for the small secluded spots I do alot of editing to keep them hidden. Nothing is hidden from Google maps tho and this being the take out for 1000s of rafters isnt keeping it hidden either. Do my videos help people find these secluded spots? Only if they are the type of person who would find them anyway. My video from 4 years ago hasn't caused a swarm of people to Bruner run so why would this one? On top of that there are A LOT of pieces to this puzzle that people would need to figure out that is not a part of this video.
@fishinwithish I was at the river yesterday, and even with google maps, I still wasn't able to find where I wanted to go. It didn't much matter though, because my old man's body reminded my young man's brain, that I can't do what I used to be able to. I waded into the water and turned around, afraid that I was going to fall and end up in Mckeesport. But I still enjoyed my time there.
I’ll tell you what’s really bad, when you run into Sasquatch playing a guitar and the banjo kid from deliverance, and they’re doing a duet! You’re in trouble!!!!
Hahaha if that ever happens I guarantee I will have a heart attack!!! 🤣🤣🤣 thanks for watchin Ray!!!
Bruh?! I was more scairt than when I saw Blair Witch. Great camera angles and editing! Feeling my age, it was 30 years ago I went with a handful of idiots from school. They were better drinking buddies than people you wanted to share a death ride with. I later learned a few tricks from a patient of mine that used to guide OP...yeah we did everything wrong and at least 3 of us had close calls.
ps- y'all get bonus points for no-one saying 'portage' like Alex Trebek on Jeopardy
Hahaha thanks! I'm sure if a OP raft guide saw us he would say we have no idea what were doin🤣🤣🤣
Also, thanks for watchin!!!
Yep, just missing the banjo music! Anyway, by next year Mike's arms are going to look like Popeyes after dragging the Yough Vikings Ish Erikson and Bjorn To Fish over every boulder in the river. I would almost bet in the near future Mike will be including spinach with his shore lunch. Looks like you guys had a blast!!!
Hahaha next year we'll look at the videos and do an arm comparison🤣🤣🤣 it was a ton of fun ghats for sure! Thanks for watchin ken!!!
Now go grab some potato patch fries 😂😂😂😂
🤣🤣🤣
Wow you are brave lol I would be so paranoid the whole time. Looks like you had a great time though.
Haha Idk if we are brave, maybe just stupid🤣🤣🤣 thanks for watchin!!!
Was waiting for the "Ugh, brother ughhhh" on that gross one! 🤣
🤣🤣🤣 I wish I would've thought of that!!! 🤣🤣🤣
What a trip. Mike is getting very good at handling his raft through some difficult spots. If you guys got stuck a few times those other guys must have shaved a few thou off the bottom of their boat. Thanks for the video Ish.
Yes he is, and I'm sure he will continue to get better and better, it's no easy task manning that boat! That's exactly what ai was thinking... I can't imagine trying to take any kind of hard boat down through that section!!! Thanks for watchin Paul!!!
Awesome trip down the river. Soo many different looks to the Yough, I love it.
Thanks!!! It is a very beautiful, and sometimes scary place to be!!! Thanks for watching!!!
I deleted my last comment for the confusion. I do look forward to trying some of your baits. I throw the weightless whacky rig with Senkos often. I buy them in the bulk pack of 50 because you lose them like crazy and they don’t hold up well but they work so I keep buying them. I’ve noticed that I have set the hook a little faster on this rig than you typically do to avoid misses and losing baits. I do apologize for seeming like I was hating because that wasn’t the case! Great video and editing is getting crazy good
Yeah, I would like to say about your other comment, that yes, the yough is constantly changing, but it's basically impossible to have a video based on current conditions. I would rather encourage the people watching to learn from what happened in the video and apply that to their fishing..... When necessary.... That is why I so often show river conditions like temperature water flow, water temperature, and water clarity/color. Then you get to see what I did that day to have success. I can't hold everyone's hands. If someone who actually pays attention to my many videos can't catch a smallmouth, there is something severely wrong. I say that because, even being a bait maker? I know the bait you're using has very little effect in comparison to where and what the fish are doing. My videos are highly educational IF people actually pay attention, even tho that is not my main concern. My main concern is entertainment. I would also like to admit that I am quite touchy about my bait business because even with me being pretty popular with the locals.... and I hate to say this but locals make up about 10% of my total sales.... so needless to say my bait business hasn't exactly had a warm welcome with the people in the area... honestly, either Fayette County is completely poor.... OR it's basically Fayette County giving me a huge middle finger... what I am saying is local people... haven't even given my baits a chance and my business has been running for 3 months now...
@@fishinwithish My comment was more directed to anyone struggling to catch fish than it was you just as you said you can’t hold anyone’s hand. You’re having more impact than you think especially on the kids. I have seen more kids running around with baitcasters and trying to throw jerkbaits. I think your local following is a lot of kids and that’s why that’s not translating to sales, but it will eventually. You’re putting smallie fishing on the map locally. Even just last year, I never ran into anyone targeting them specifically. Your videos are different than any others I have found. You have a story line but it’s not corny. You don’t show just your catch with slow, boring music playing in your background putting you to sleep. It is entertaining and educational at the same time. People want instant results but fishing really is a skill and takes practice to get good. Again, no hate at all on what you’re doing just a mix up on my confusing comment.
@alexfogle6381 Okay, I definitely took it the wrong way! It's all good man, I realize what you meant now. The theory on my audience being younger than I think is something I never thought of, and makes a lot of sense. I apologize for misunderstanding. Thank you for clarifying, I appreciate it! Also thanks for watching!
My search bait and damn near only bait I take is a weightless wacky rig. No o ring. Hook through the bait itself. If u can't catch a fish w that then they ain't bitin
Yeah, I've always gone with paddletails and has served me extremely well, just wanted to try something different. Even with almost everyone using senkos they Def still work! Thanks for the tips.
Great video btw Thank you for the t-shirt btw...😊
Thanks!!! Your welcome!
You’re videos are great, new local hero.
Thanks man!!! I wouldn't call myself a hero, maybe just a guy who fishes a lot🤣🤣🤣
I see a lot of people do well with the wacky rig, but I haven't had much success. I don't fish it often but you did better than me. I did notice the shirt...nice. I didn't think you ever got skunked 😂.
Hahaha I was hoping no one was actually paying attention when I said that🤣🤣🤣 yes I have been skunked before BUT I have had 2 skunk days this year, and those 2 trips were actually only 30 mins of fishing and I'm blaming it on not having enough time🤣🤣🤣 thanks for watchin Chris!!!
Also, I appreciate you giving me your ebay shirt idea. It was a good option, one of the best actually, but me n Tiff was crunching the numbers and figured why not make them ourselves. I figured I'm already making all these baits, why not make t-shirts too 🤣🤣 🤣
Finding the spots and what to use is part of the adventure for Wyatt and I. Definitely using your baits has helped us, now if we wouldn’t get so many snags. 😂
Yes!!! Absolutely the adventure is half the fun! I'm glad the baits are helping! My tips for avoiding snags are fairly precise, but I always say let the bait hit bottom but pop it off the bottom, never drag. Alot of people are unaware they are actually dragging their bait on bottom because sometimes just the current will make your bait drag, and that's what causes the snags. When your in current as soon as you hit bottom immediately pop it back up. Another thing that helps is to learn how to snap your line like I do when you get snagged, the beginner version of it is to aim your rod at your snag reel in to make it very tight n then just open your bail and let the line shoot out. Hopefully that helps!!! Thanks for watchin!!!
@@fishinwithish thanks for the tips!
I was fishing upstream from connelsville last fall with waders and a long shirt on, diligently avoiding all grass and brush and I had three on me. Love the area but I avoid brush busting as much as possible so try to float it. Love the channel, keep up the great work.
That is crazy!!! I can't blame you for avoiding the brush that's actually very smart. Maybe I have just been extremely lucky and never pull ticks off of me by the river. I generally strip all my clothes off as soon as I get home so maybe that helps. Thanks man, I appreciate it!
Man, do u get many ticks busting thru all that stuff?
Its kinda funny actually but I never pull ticks off me from any brush along the river.... but if I take 2 steps in the woods behind my house u better believe I'll have a tick on me... I have no idea why I don't get ticks along the river, I know the deer walk through all of that stuff so there should be ticks, but never pull any off me.
Blessing Connected friend
Thanks for watchin!!!
It really sounds like you’ve hated this yak for 5yrs. Hardly any mods, minus the seat.
I can't say I hated it but I am not a fan of it. There's really nothing wrong with it but there isn't really anything special about it either. Thanks for watchin!!!
Nice video! Getting into a 16 for a first time on the wacky worm is a pretty good start. Its defiantly all about the details in fishing. I don't think anyone will ever master them all, but that's what makes it fun and keeps you chasing the next challenge. Thanks for the video Ish!!
Thanks!!! I was very pleased with a 16 for my first wacky fish!!! The more details I learn about fishing, the more I realize how much I don't know about fishing... Thanks for watchin!!!
If it’s not a real senko don’t call it that. It really pisses me off when any plastic worm they call it a senko.
Well, it's a name brand type of thing... Just like Chatterbait or a Creasant wrench, it's technically paying homage to the original creator. You may hate me calling a non senko, a senko but I'm not going to go around calling it a plastic worm.... Honestly Senko people are almost like a cult which is why I stayed away from them and this comment is just further proof of it lol
@@fishinwithish Exactly! I agree with you. It's like calling all hot tubs jacuzzi's or all tissues kleenex etc. I call them senkos even if I'm using a yum dinger. Haha.
@martinharris859 absolutely! 👍👍
River/Wet wading set-up Been using for over 10 years 4” or 3” Yamamoto Senko Colors: Watermelon Red Flake Watermelon/Cream Laminate Baby Bass Size 1 wacky hook 3” use a cut milkshake straw or Starbucks green straws Hook thru Senko and straw hooks bait perfect 4” shrink tube cut again hook thru both Toss the O-Rings Fish w/no weight but Senko 7” Med rod 8# fluorocarbon 2500 reel It’s the details ISH have had multiple 50+ fish days on this set-up Good Luck!
Those are some really good tips! What brand wacky hook do you use? I think I understand what you're doing with the milkshake straw, but not sure. Are you using it like a o-ring? or just like support on the barb side of the hook? I agree the o-rings are garbage lol Set up sounds very close to mine I use7'2" med rod 10lb fluoro leader and 2000 reel. Got your order. Thank you, it's on its way!!! Also, thanks for watchin!!!
Gamakatsu Size 1 # 50910 Wet the senko then slip the cut straw over the bait start on the thinner side of the senko. That model hook has a weed guard, you get very few snags. Yamamoto Senkos are heavier then others that’s an important detail to this setup they are effective to 5-6’ of water in the Yough
Awesome! Thank you!!! That is top notch info for sure!!! Thank you for clarifying! I am gonna order me some actual senkos and some of those hooks for sure!

Already received my package impressed ! Great service When do expect 1/16 Ned EWG to be ready for order
Try using a 1/4 oz Joe fly. Works for me.
Absolutely! 1/4oz joes flies are 🔥🔥🔥 I used to throw them all the time for trout and would catch nice smallies too! I guess you could say I have moved on from spinners cause it usually catches smaller fish compared to other baits. Not saying you can't catch giants on them, it's just less of a chance in my opinion. Thanks for watchin!
Crazy how everybody is recognizing you! The it's not small note made me laugh. There are so many variables involved in catching fish. Best thing people can do is learn how to manage those variables the best they can. Enjoyed this one👍
It really is getting crazy!!! The note definitely had me laughing too!🤣🤣🤣Fishing is actually kind of weird because the way people fish vary WILDLY and honestly, I have seen people do stuff that I said no way your catching a fish that way, but they do and it constantly makes me wonder if all the things I learned are actually true or not🤣🤣🤣 Thanks for watchin!!!
Imma try the wacky rig this Thursday 👍🏽 hopefully I can come across a couple fish like those dude, great video dude 👍🏽
Yeah man, It's worth a shot!!! Hope you catch a GIANT!!!! thanks for watchin!!!!
Great video Ish! You're absolutely right, the devil is in the details. Everything has to come together to be successful. I mean that's why they call it fishing and not catching right? It reminds me of a guy who golfs and all he does is gets pissed off, throws his clubs, and just has a miserable time. Why go??? Wet your line, appreciate the scenery, and thank the Lord that He gave you this day to fish! Thanks Ish!!!
Yeah, I used to get a temper with some of my hobbies, but all of those have been dropped... I still sometimes get upset while fishing, but it's very rare and doesn't last long. I mean, just like you said, how can you be upset when you are experiencing something so great!!! Thanks for watchin!!!

Always good to take lunch and see a new video! O-rings suck, I switched to VMC crossover bands, I'd rather do pliers than that janky o-ring tool, only loose baits when a turtle grabs it...but I digress, a dude calls his version the Waco rig. He TX rigs with an EWG and slips a piece of nail weight (parallel) in the middle of the lure. Same shimmy fall with more swimmy action on retrieve.
Just how many people named Dan are out your way??? Other than my old job at GM, I've only ever met 2 people from that area, both Dan, both from Whitsett. ps-I usually triangulate off of the rock grafitti and cross reference with bridge construction methods.

@B.A.Bassangler OHHH haha yeah ai could tell u where I parked at it's not that much of a secret, but I don't wanna ruin your fun😂😂😂 the haunted lake is actually a very special place, and if I was more of a lake guy I would be there everyday. I know there are absolute giants in there!!!
Another great video Ish. I hope you make a t-shirt with Fishing with Ish on the front and It’s not small on the back. Great to see so many pictures up on your shopify page(including my pike). Thanks for the video.
I absolutely will have a "It's not small" t-shirt!!!! I have a logo already made for it, just waiting on a heat press to come in so I can start making them! I know I have more pictures that people have sent to me, but I kind of lost track of them! Thanks for watchin paul!!!
i was just fishing through that area on my bike yesterday, went from smithton to cville and back. just below Adelaide campground at the little dock, had a BIG bass smash a no11 jointed rapala on top, and then jumped 2 feet out of the water to throw the lure back at my head lol on gopro hahaha
Thats a long ride!!! I think I know exactly wher you mean, and last year I definitely lost a giant next to a log right above that little dock area. haha those smallies love to jump!!! Makes me cringe everytime a big one gets a jump in cause I know the chances of it coming off are good!!!! If you recorded it on the gopro you outta put it up on YT!!! Thanks for watchin man!!!!
@@fishinwithish well lol yes and no,its definitely a good distance, but its a dual battery electric cargo bike,so its cheating hahahaha.
@@sammydewitt4498ohhhh ok hahah yeah I'm a cheater too!!!😂😂😂
When I use a Wacky Rig fishing weed beds I throw a 5" Senko. On the river I down size to a 4" Senko. I get more hook ups with the 4", less missed bites. It also seems that with all the different stick bait companies out there I have my best results with the Senko brand. Ish, you should check into copy writing the phrase "it's not small". It's not that expensive and you would be surprised as to how you can use that phrase with your marketing. My youngest son and his buddy heard a baseball announcer throw a phrase out during a broad cast. They had the phrase copy written the next day. The following year a ML baseball team tried to use that phrase to promote the club. They had t shirts printed, it was on their signage and THEN they found out it was coy written. My son and his buddy ended up getting 50 grand so that the team could use the slogan without getting sued. Enjoyed watching as always.
Good info!!! Makes sense to downsize to help the hook up ratio!!!! I will have to look into copywriting it, I definitely have a t-shirt I am going to be making that says it's not small!!!🤣 Thanks for watchin ken!!!
I prefer Stainless Steel screen cut oversize to start off the repair of HDPE. Melt it into base plastic all around the outside of the hole. Use a pencil soldering iron with a big flat tip. Best ones are sold for repairing plastic car bodies. Then melt in plastic all over the screen. Once you have it fully filled in and smooth, cap it with more screen. Melt it in all over the patch and melt more plastic over the top. Cracks, splits and small holes are a lot easier to fix this way compared to large wear areas. JB weld can be used in emergencies. And the stock slow cure two part epoxy holds about as well as their "plasticweld". Best chance is to rough scuff the surfaces and then very quickly "flame treat" the area to receive adhesive using the flame tip of a small propane or butane torch. You have to do this so fast you think it cant possibly have an effect. But it does. And you can embed screen or fiberglass into the patch. The only adhesive that seems to get a really good bond onto HDPE is 3M DP8005. Its only sold by industrial vendors like Grainger or McMaster Carr and should be used with a special dual pack applicator gun and mixing nozzle. Unfortunately its pretty expensive but has value to save expensive things like kayaks, automotive parts and custom polyethylene tanks used in boats and RV's.
Wow really Good tips man! I Ccan tell you have done alot of kayak repairs!!!
I had an owl take my frog once. crazy birds. love seeing the memories and teaching for the boy! Good stuff!!

Looked like a fun day out there. Love you see the young ones catching them. That's awesome! I don't think I've thrown a spinnerbait at all this year. Might have to bust one out next trip. Always caught fish on them. It was sure working for you. Nice job!
It was a good time for sure. It was really cool to see Wyatt catch his pb!!! I'm not a huge fan of spinnerbaits, but it seemed like that was the answer for this day, just need to figure out how to keep that top blade from falling off hahah. Thanks for watchin Joe!!!
