- antique carroll & jamieson lathe from USA, we found and bought from a mechanical workshop in vietnam. this carroll & jamieson lathe is American made in 1925 up to now this lathe is almost 100 years old. the machine has completely rusted and many things are not complete but we still bought this lathe to restore.

I guess they don’t gave many tools, but using a steel hammer and a pipe wrench is still difficult to watch.

I suffered so much, after having seen the lathe disassembled down to almost the smallest elements, the most logical consideration was to paint them individually.
Maybe in Asia that method is used even if I don't believe it, on the contrary I think that the real retrofitting professionals follow the most elementary procedures of retrofitting, that is, "the components", paint them and check them individually. Anyway congratulations you are very good.

I don’t like the “paint everything in one piece” idea either. But admittedly, some factories do that too. I guess these guys aren’t interested in restoring this, just getting it usable.

This lathe is not from 1925. I would guess it's from the 1960's.

Hope your keeping it for your self in its day that was a high end lath. Im not a machinist but I have several friends that are . We think maybe a 60s model. You can do a lot with it.

The spray gun was a bad idea 👎 in my humble opinion. Either spray each part individually, or leave the
Paint out altogether and spray the machine down with oil or rust inhibitors nice job otherwise.

WTF?.. It was going well until the spray gun came out.
There has to be some parts worn out .are you replacing them.if not what was the purpose of taking it apart ..if your only painting it.
I took them apart and checked them, the gears and bearings are in good condition I didn't replace them
There is no need for this complete disassembly ,but it needs a clean,washing and oiling..!

Надо Игорю Негоде на вооружение сей метод взять. А то он, бедолага, плоскости шабрит по полгода, коробку подач перебирает. А тут, разобрал, пыль сдул, собрал, покрасил, готово:-))

Так её и нет. Это такие реставраторы. Как в анекдоте "покрасил и выкинул" .
Реставрация без инструментов. Это шедевр. Консистентная смазка? Не неслышали.

Опорные поверхности (ласточкин хвост) от которых сотки зависят, ставят на бетонный пол и елозят по нему этими деталями. Этим восстановителям позор и минус. Далее даже смотреть не буду.

Cleaning it up getting it running and painting it(I am going to be polite about calling that painting) is in no way a restoration.

what type of solvent are they using to clean the lathe parts? shouldnt you be wearing gloves to do that?

Without the slightest care or concern to give the equipment a longer useful life.
If I needed a machined part and there was only this lathe to make it, I wouldn't accept it.
I encourage colleagues to make a quality content, careful and worthy of being called restoration.

А где собственно реставрация? Где восстановление направляющих, шлифовка станины, поперечки, малой продольной, синусной линейки, изготовление наделок с последующей щабровкой? Вот это и будет реставрация, а чистка, смазка и покраска это не реставрация, а просто обслуживание оборудования.
Лепят горбатого для просмотров, из них рестовраторы как из меня космонавт.😁😁😁

another take it apart clean it and paint it video , not a restoration , painting in one go is bad practice , should paint each part desperately then put back together.
