    What a great lineup for Friday night stitching, you and Stitching by the Shore. Love the finishes! Thank you for all of the history lessons. I like the Beatles but didn't realize Eleanor Rigby was a real person or that Strawberry Fields was a real place. I've got Yellow Submarine started, Blackbird is finished and I'll be starting Strawberry Fields with you and Sarah. Have a great weekend!

      They are great charts aren't they! Looking forward to stitching the rest maybe next year. Yes Eleanor was a real person but none of The Beatles knew her. There was a disagreement between Paul and John over who wrote the song and it was thought Paul did - he said that he didn't know the grave was there and it was purely coincidental! It's all so fascinating! Happy Stitching 🪡🧵❤️

    Lovely video, Sally. Yes, I had an American dad and English mum. My grandad, who lived in L'pool, also had a cottage in Llandudno which we visited a few times. It used to be quite a pretty seaside town. I'm sure it's much more of a touristy place now than it was when I was last there as a child in early 1960s. I have Strawberry Fields all kitted up and ready to go. Not sure if I can hold off till December, tho. We'll see. Steph x

    Just finished watching this, as always while getting some ‘stitching kilometres’ (as the Dutch would say!) under my belt on my own project. Things I loved best: your FFOs, so lovely, well done! All the history, especially about stitchy ladies of the past (don’t we stand in a long and illustrious line?!). Hearing about your and Si’s days out! Familiar places near school… and all of it really! Really enjoyed the hour thank you. Oh, and I meant to say some Flosstubes ago - pleased the travel ort catcher pattern came in so useful! Sending love, keep stitching xx

    Great to see you last night Sally. Exactly what I needed after a long day. It did include a visit to a book stand so I'm well stocked up now for the autumn. Only problem is I can't stitch & read & I'm no good with audio books.
    Hardwick Hall is on my to visit list. I've been to Chatsworth & absolutely loved it. I had read some of Deborah Mitfords books so it made it even more special to finally visit. She was a woman, like Bess, years ahead of her time.
    Love your finishes & all your stitching.
    We finally have summer here, hope it's the same in Wales this weekend.
    Take care 💖💖💖

      @flossysewsandgrows  15 днів тому

      Thanks for watching Anne-Marie! I'm the same with books - can't stitch and read at same time and find audio quite hard, especially when stitching as I get engrossed in my stitching and miss bits! It can happen with Flosstube but that seems easier to pause and go back a bit with!
      You'll love Hardwick - so seeped in history. Simon loved it for the history and the portraits so there is so much more to it than just the needlework.
      Glad you have some good weather. Saturday was lovely - Sunday not so and woken to rain this morning! Can't make up it's mind! Happy Stitching! 🧵🪡❤️

    Hi Sally, I'm really impressed you've only got 20 wips on the go this far into the year. How many do you need for WIPGO???!!! You'll have to start new projects in 2025 at this rate!
    Interesting about the osnaburg you got. I love osnaburg and stitched almost exclusively on it when I first picked up cross-stitch. I stitch in hand and like the feel and weight of it (and it dyes really well and is cheap if it goes wrong) but the main problem is that it isn't always a true square - the thread count can be quite different across to up and down. I've had a few pieces turn out squashed or stretched! My Spring Quaker is stitched on osnaburg and that was fine. It measures about 43 count by 39 count so fairly true, but I've some flecked osnaburg that's 32 by 42 count so that can really change the aspect ratio of a piece. Lady Dot Creates does coloured osnaburg which is much looser and dramatically not square! I started making a Sampler Hare by La-D-Da in some and it looked positively anorexic so it's worth checking before you start stitching.
    I look forward to seeing what you think of it! Happy stitching, Kim ❤

      @flossysewsandgrows  11 днів тому

      Oh I have plans for new starts for 2025 already 🤭🤭🤭🤭 Thank you for the feedback about the osnaburg. I think you are right that's it's not even. Have measured it and about 15 holes x 19 holes per inch! It was super cheap though so I'm not unhappy about it. I expect I will use it to finish stitching projects mainly. I might try and stitch something on it but probably just smalls! My friends had also bought it to use it to dye their own colours and i think Ruth in the US has managed to find one that works quite well. I'll keep you posted how I get on with it!
