This was a great guide. Thank you from a new brewmaster. I am in love with monks now and this makes it alot better for me. Im still trying to not smash buttons but press ones with a purpose.
Shadowlands is my first expansion in almost a decade, never played a monk so this video has been Increidbly helpful as I approach level cap and start thinking about tanking dungeons! Great vid!
I was really hoping to hear something about the Faeline Stomp and glad to hear its not garbage and actually viable. I really like the combined healing of expel harm + faeline = 1 vivify (at my current lvl, 57, and stats) and the stagger buff. Admittedly I've only used in in solo lvling so far, but the feel of it added to the rotation and its benefits is nice.
Thank you for the guide really helped me get in the seat and go! The only thing i would like to see is a highlight on the ability you're talking about to make it easier to follow and focus on what you're describing.
I hope to make brewmaster viable in pvp but needed to know the basics first this really helped. My first debate though is invokers delight lego or keg smash lego I would think that 33 percent haste increase as long as I'm running black ox of course will help fix the lack of damage brewmaster does.
After seeing you main as Brewmaster monk, man I love my Brewmaster monk when lvling it to max and "leech" gear from my guild in alt raids xD I play it too often until I feel rusty when tanking on my DH lol. Just that I don't have luck on getting my legendary from sanguine depths which is sucks :/ Love your content as always 😊
Hey man, that's so awesome to hear. Don't worry, it took me 30 tries in SD to get the legendary to finally drop - you will get there, I have 100% faith 👊
@@QuaziiFFXIV just got my legendary in a "yolo" 7 SD alt run LOL. Feels so nice that celestial brew CD has more uptime due to extra charges of keg smash
Hey there, I think it really depends on the situation - I dont actually use a rule of thumb. But more importantly, I try to understand where the 'spikes' in damage are. As a brew, your job is to 'smooth' out damage taken. For instance if I know there's a huge spike in damage coming (e.g. Iron Spikes from 3rd boss in Sanguine Depth), I will hold my purify till AFTER the ability goes out before cleasing. However, if there's no real spikes in damage, then I am more liberal with purifying charges (: You should always try to keep one charge of purifying on CD though, just to roll into higher stacks of Purified Chi for larger Celestial Brews.
hey Quazil, copied your WA stream into game and have noticed that the trinket icon shows the old mechagon trinket (unsure if this is intentional), and roll does not replace chi torpedo when talented into tiger lust. Just some feedback, thanks for the WAs!
Hey there, thanks for the feedback. Definitely needs some customization (I did not code for Tiger Lust actually, will add that to my to-do list). thanks for the feedback 👊
Hey I've seen a lot of different information in regards to which legendary is best and its always between Charred and Keg Smash. In todays game do you still stick by the keg smash being the better choice over the charred providing more uptime on breath of fire for the mitigation? Awesome guide btw :)
yes, even in today's environment - I would lean more on the double Keg Smash leggo. In fact, if you look at raid top damage parses, the Keg Smash leggo is not that far off in terms of min maxing DPS. hope that address your question
Hey there, will be maining Brew for my raid team. For M+ though, I will be maining a VDH and Bear Tank for now - unless further tuning changes comes around (:
The statue has a big pool so I didn’t like that pulled unwanted adds but for wouldn’t it help for any bleeds effects? The less tank gets hit the less damage ?
So this is my first expansion tanking and second expansion in general. First I picked blood DK as a tank and got him up to ilvl201, but i feel stressed out on higher keys ( starting from around +9's). I tried protection Paladin but he is way too squishy at times, not as i expected him to be... Now im looking at brewmaster monk, and he seems a lot of fun, but how will he compare to the other 2 classes I've played? How squishy is he? I'm not understanding the stagger part. From what I've understood is that BM monks are extremely healer reliant. Other tanks such as Vengeance DH, Prot. Warrior, and the Bear, are not spiking my interest.
hey there, my sense is a Brewmaster is slightly more 'consistent' assuming the same skill level, as Stagger (it's main mode of defensive mitigation) is a passive. Brewmasters still can be squishy out of their CD windows though (that is when you need to kite/ ring mobs away)
@@QuaziiFFXIV just boosted a monk, ill see how it goes. My kiting game is hella bad with dk, so that mightve been why i felt a bit more stressed. Thanks for the reply, keep up!
Hey there, thanks for the support. If you are worried about Torghast, have ZERO worries. A Brewmaster is insane in Torghast - pick up the Vivify anima powers (that leaves a damage aura on you), that thing is SUPER overpowered at the moment. You can just vivify your way to victory in Torghast.
as far as the touch of death damage thing, I don't think it's strong vs weak creature. I'm pretty sure it's probably a logic thing, though I haven't tested it myself (IE, gotten a boss to less HP than my max HP to try it) but I imagine it something like is my target's current HP less than player's max HP? Ok, touch of death damage is 100% of player's max HP. is target's current HP less than 20% of its maximum? Ok, touch of death damage is 35% of player max HP. (i assume, i dont know for sure) the check will probably go thru logic like this when determining the damage it deals. First it checks target's current HP vs your max. Then it'll check if its current HP is at least below 20%, for the reduced Touch of Death.
Quazii, your videos are awesome. I'm learning much about tanking. One request, I saw in your keybinds video that you use a illustrative example for Prot Pala, Can you provide one for each tank classes? I'm trying to start tank and I'm lost about it
night fea is also a good option if you enjoy both raiding and mythic( 2nd choice for both ). though you lack a big cooldown you have a consistent additional way of dealing dmg and increase stagger building
@@SS-df5zo ou are certainly right, we are lucky with brewmaster to have 3 viable covenants: kyrians, necro and fae. This is not the case with all classes.
Question: A lot of sources I'm seeing are telling me that I should be using Tiger Palm less frequently. Doesn't that mean that the debuff provided by Eye of the Tiger is generally less effective? Or am I thinking about this incorrectly? Great guide, I'm learning a lot. :)
Hey there, the way to think about it, is that you should always not spend energy on Tiger Palm if you can use better abiilities like Keg Smash. So if you always use Tiger Palm as a filler everytime you have a GCD, you will run out of energy to Keg Smash the moment it comes back up. Hope that makes sense.
I think that is debatable. Crit doesn't help you 'defensively' in terms of reducing as much damage taken versus mastery, but it certainly contributes alot to your self healing. I would say it depends on the type of content you are doing really (:
I have to ask, why not healing elixir? I have been running it and it really helps the healers with proper use. I never understand the hate towards the talent. It is a great self sustain option in mythic+
Hi David, it's great for personal solo content. But overall, in M+ Dampen harms mitigates more damage than Healing Elixir can provide in terms of raw heals overall. This becomes especially true, when you start creeping into higher keystone levels. Hope that helps (:
