I did mine the other day. I used a 8mm to try to loosen the fill plug. I can’t believe how tight it’s torqued. The 8mm slipped and rounded the inside. I tried a t50 and got it to break loose.

Hopefully my T50 discovery will save some heartache lol.
Yea, I cut a bunch out of the middle while I was fiddling with it. Almost got out a breaker bar, but I had already spun a few bits in it so tried to be gentle. This is another reason I try to do as much of my maintenance as possible. According to the manual from BMW, transmission fluid is supposed to be changed once after the first year, then every other year or 24,000 miles. The way that fill plug snapped out of there, it was 100% still factory sealed.
IE, the BMW certified dealer/service center I took it to for my first yearly service didn't change the trans fluid. It was nasty, and quite a bit of grit on the drain plug. DIY is a good way to know what you're looking at if/when something goes wrong, usually saves a ton of money, and you don't have to deal with unnecessary issues caused by someone working on the bike who doesn't know the specific model.

I put it back together and had a hell of a time getting the fill plug started. I didn’t torque it Down very tight. Just to be safe, I ordered a new fill plug For the bargain price of $40. When it comes in, I’ll finish torquing it. Anyway, great video chase

@@Miskini-tj6ec They definitely engineered it then tossed a bunch of wiring around it haha. Torque spec by the book is 28NM/20lb ft. I just maxed out my inch pound torque wrench at 200 and gave it an extra turn. Definitely no need for whatever was on it before. Yea, I plan on replacing it every time. More expensive than just a washer, but a new transmission is even more expensive! Thanks sir!
