The Anthropoids

- Moving along with the history of primates, as we approach the Eocene-Oligocene boundary, we find the anthropoids, sometimes called simiiformes. This group encompasses the lineage of both new and old world monkeys, or platyrrhines and catarrhines. These first evolved in the Fayum of Egypt around 37 million years ago, and there are a few subcategories we are going to look at. Let's get started!

Primates are my favorite group, I feel at home with them, like I'm one of them.
Well do i have good news for you😂
@@JubioHDXLol
What a biased comment, but I agree, primates are the best
@@ReynoldsGarrett .. na . iss fuck all euprimates . them boys some hoes .
Primates are magnificent!
the build up to humans is so good. Makes me eager to learn more!
It's stunning to see just how much paleontologists have learned about Primate/Anthropoid evolutionary development over the last 2 decades, given the relative sparcity of the fossil record of these kinds of jungle species. (They tend to have tiny, fragile bones, and live in areas where the soil is acidic enough to consume bones & teeth long before fossilisation can occur.)
Learning more about Hominoids is going to be awesome. There are a remarkable number of species that our ape lineage has coexisted with over the millennia, many that were at least sub-sapient, if not fully capable of close to human levels of sapience (giving them at least a certain level of personhood, IMO).
sometimes I feel like a basal Anthropoid
Same. Especially first thing in the morning.
Thank you Professor. Wish this stuff got the same views as your debunks…
I'm enjoying this series greatly.
and way too underrated with 551 likes
Really a nice breath of fresh air for mw to watch some of your teaching videos thqt im capable of understanding, really appreciated this one
Hey im currently learning math from (math all of it) playlist.been 1 week and from no idea about math i just finished algebra and started geometry. Your videos are easy to understand.rarely I have to check a second video to understand.
I love anthropoids, gotta be one of my favourite poids
Nice video
Thanku so much for uploading.... ❤
Thank you professor ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
great video, thank you
Thank you!❤
Hey Professor Dave, I'm a highschooler who loves your stuff :) Your educational content is very fascinating to me. I love the way you explain things.
I have a question; will you be releasing any new music anytime soon?
I started listening to Simulated Sun a while ago, and I absolutely love it (Favorites are Tannhauser Gate and Castles). The sound, the lyrics, the production, and your singing voice are all awesome.
Just wondering. It'd be amazing to see any new releases from you.
Thank you! I'm glad you like it! Yes, more music coming sooner than later hopefully!
@@ProfessorDaveExplains Hell yea!! Thank you for replying!
I recently watched your geology series, not all but some of them. Are they like elementary school, secondary school(?) or college level stuff? Im intrested to get geology degree but im sure ill need some math and physics classes before i even apply to schools.
It’s 101. Freshman year college.
@@ProfessorDaveExplainshave you seen the recent news of a woman who k*lled her husband and children because she thought the eclipse was the start of the apocalypse
Thanks
Hey professor, can you please explain HOW virtual images work, like WHY do the reflected rays seem to meet behind the mirror and stuff. Please do consider this request and yeah, you're awesome.
great
Hello Professor Dave, I came across a really good organic chemistry question a while, and I can't find the answer neither online nor by my teachers, the question was:
Do amides give hinsberg test?
example: if we have benzamide and we react it with hinsberg reagent, will it give a reaction?
My answer was yes, it will give the reaction as hinsberg reagent detects 1 degree and 2 degree amine and amides do fulfill that criteria, but I just want your opinion. Thank you.
I didn't get the part where you referenced the dental formula at 3:45. Do you have a previous video about dental formulas?
I talk about it throughout the series.
Thanks for not changing your intro 😂
Hey Dave what's your opinions on the technology ancient Egyptians used to use?
Pulleys and ramps and slaves?
Dave thought he could sneak himself into the thumbnail and we wouldn’t notice!
Jk great vid
do a video on sadghuru
When you said Catarrhines were found globally. I was briefly confused, then I realized. 😂
Thanks Prof.
I love you Professor Dave please answer it’s my dream 🙏
Even Dr James Tour said that he can’t understand evolution and that he would buy lunch for anyone who could explain it and no one came fourth. He also said that one of his colleagues told him no one actually understands evolution but that we should shut up about it
Actually several people did come forth to offer to explain basic biology to him. He declined like a little toddler.
Very much like every 'challenge' set forth by flat earthers.
What course is this
anthropology
@@ProfessorDaveExplains uhh no it isnt... its technically evolution
@@maxbeach3272 This is an anthropology series. Look at the playlist.
@@maxbeach3272 There are several branches of anthropology this would be on the physical anthropology side, primateology specifically. Other major branches on anthropology include cultural, linguistic, applied, and archeology.
@@maxbeach3272amazing that you’re gonna tell the guy who made the video that he was wrong about it
Am I the one with the issue or did this video lose it's sound?
It’s you. Look for something called the volume button
Noooo I’m second
Just called us all creatures. I don't disagree. It's funny when used derogatorily, though. Mainly because it's misunderstood.
The root word is after "creation", so even YECs shouldn't take offense.

I love your debunk videos and I think i have found just the right video out there to be debunked. Title is ‘Astrology is a scientific fact: The Documentary, part one’ By this channel ‘Liquid perception’.
Hope you make a video refuting the bullshit proposed in the 25 minute long video claiming there is real science behind astrology
WHO IS HERE TOO EARLY
Charlie ? 😂
