For those wondering what happened to Hare: The researchers found his remains on March 3, 2017. In their announcement, the Ngogo Chimpanzee Project Inc said that they conducted a necropsy and found that he most likely died of old age. If you look them up by their name and Hare's name, you should be able to safely verify this information. Regarding details like dying peacefully in his sleep or with friends, I don't think anyone, even they could make a case for that. Hare was found after his death, so there are no human witnesses to exactly what happened. This is sadly true of most animals that die peacefully: it's rare and researchers just aren't usually there to see it happen and by the time they are found, decomposition destroys soft tissue evidence.

@goomba1982 Don't flatter yourself, your joke wasn't subtle enough to be missed by anyone. If Sushi Midnight gave a serious response, it's because the joke wasn't funny enough to warrant anything else.
Gotta give these guys credit for so closely observing these Chimps. The last place you want to be is on the wrong side of a Chimp's fit of rage. They're about 7x the strength of an adult man in top physical shape, and could tear a full-grown man up limb by limb within a few minutes.
Nah they’re about twice as strong, pound for pound. That they’re 7 times stronger is an old myth, gorillas are about that strong which makes more sense if you think about it
Jane Goodall said she started her research assuming chimps were more decent than humans. She eventually concluded they were just as brutal, if not more so, than people.
If she would have left after her first grant was over in 10 years she would have still believed that. She decided to extend her stay for another 10 years and that's when she documented all the darker and more complex behaviors.
@@Aiveq everything wrong about war and violence once you become human you thicko. You are only supposed to use animalistic part of you for survival and It's not supposed to define you. "Hunger can fuel many things. It can turn prey into predators and even innocent animals into cannibals. It can bring out the dark side of nature." - wise man
"Hunger can bring out the dark side of nature" - all of nature is dark. Kill or be killed. Nonetheless, chimps like humans can be divided into 2 groups. Killers and non killers. I have never seen such eyes in chimps - they are ruthless killers and it's "written" on their faces. Such groups of primates, IMHO, should not be allowed to prosper....
Yes, Though they said there was plenty of Fruit and natural Growth Food available, so it begs the question why they go after another animal, and specifically another Primate : A " Monkey", who closely resembles them, and swings from trees as well......I can understand ground animals, though for them to kill and eat a monkey is beyond the pale....I was totally shocked when I saw this behavior.......
Chimps were never innocent animals. This is an old vid, but they have been known for a long time now to also eat meat as part of their regular diet eating other primates and at times even canivalizing, to be aggresively territorial, to kill new born babies, and to premeditate murder, ambush, and bring down the alpha if they don't like him. We just came to publicly know this in contemporary times, but i believe they have always shown this kind of behavior. They were never funny jumping banana eating dumbass punks, they were always gangland in the woods, its in there nature to be this way. To have malice.
Something about watching a chimp eating a monkey is disturbing. I realize they're different species but they're so close it resembles cannibalism. Like watching a wolf eat a coyote.

Kind of offhandedly, but I've noticed something about nature documentaries after watching a few old and new ones. The newer shows always had an overarching presentation of "all have their place, and all live in harmony" while all the older ones that were mainly from the 50s were like "everything in this forest is in a mutual death struggle thunderdome."
+Stryking Warlock: Brother, you just made the most impressive comment in here. Very intuitive....I tip my hat towards you in respect. I'm 65 (can't belive it myself) and was born in '54. Not trying to start a fight here.....but as you guys like to say....I'm "just sayin".
i think it also depends on the particular group of animals being observed, and how right those observations are. Also some documentaries aim for entertainment while some for truth, which will determine the presentation.
I think the point of why these apes are so terrifying though is that it doesn't seem to just be any circle of life shit. They're murdering each other and their neighbors for territory and power grabs and that just feels a bit too human.
it's that it's so easy to see ourselves in them, like a weird uncanny valley where they're clearly not human, but also human enough that you can't not notice

Humans on the other hand force animals into cramped feedlots where they go their entire lives without moving and are fed GMO food and steroids to keep them from dying of parasite infections. What is more brutal, having your arm ripped off or slowly being killed from the inside for over a decade?
So the one that got jumped turns out he was the coolest one and they were hating on him. He wasn’t like them. But he survived the beating, living off the grid and spending time being big brother to the orphans. Yeah bro a champ.
No you are confusing one. The one who took care of the orphans was Hare. The one who got beat on was a chimp who's name begins with a G (I forget the rest). Hare's friend died, ...that' was yet another chimp...and then Hare got sad and distanced from the group.
They're all so freaking different too.. some of them are just so savage and then you have the old wise man looking after the orphan children like bro they are so fascinating
@Ryan Ryan People (humanity) tend to remember the negative more than the positive. Survival instinct possibly? Maybe it's easier to remember one act of negativity as opposed to 10 acts of positivity?
Humans: Damn straight. There are reasons we, initially a prey species, are the top of ALL food chains. We're powerful enough to change the very Earth itself. Nature bows to us.
