- Beskar armour is one of the best protections against a lightsaber. However, other than Darth Revan, it was never utilised by a force user. The first and most obvious reason why Jedi and Sith didn’t use beskar armour is because it was incredibly rare, and only found on Mandalore. As the mandalorians would never sell it, it would have to be taken by force, effectively leading to yet another Jedi Mandalorian War. Secondly, Jedi and Sith usually saw little use for armour. Jedi believed it gave off militeristic vibes, undermining their role as simple peacekeepers. From a practical perspective, armour was also heavy and prevented force users from fully implementing more acrobatic moves, and so it was rarely used after the New Sith Wars.

Forgot that the public controls the jedi at some point in time so the jedi are constantly worried about "vibes"
So fucking stupid dude. It amazes me they weren’t destroyed before sidious honestly because to me the Jedi and the Jedi way has always been stupid considering they live in a galaxy that’s at war CONSTANTLY. I also hate the way of thinking that there’s never a third party and the world is just completely black and white, good versus evil with no middle ground. It’s just stupid and it’s amazing that these “wise” masters never saw their way of thinking as flawed throughout generations of different masters running the order.

It's also a really rare substance and equipping an entire order or military with it is practically impossible, the Mandalorians don't even use 99% Beskar for the most part, or even above 50% usually.
Whenever someone says are you sith or jedi, I cap them in the knees with my canon. "F your politics" red or green, both are problematic. I'm about my friends and these drinks.

The second Jedi who wore Besar was Tar Vizela. Aka the only mandaloriam jedi inducted into the order and the creator of the dark saber.
And in eu/legends the mandalorian knights a small group of jedi during the mandalorian wars

And during the Last Sith Jedi with war under lord Hoth and the Jedi Lords they used beskar armour and beskar shields
So having armour is bad coz it’s too militaristic but being an army general is completely fine
To be fair, the Jedi didn't really choose to become generals, the war and positions were dropped on them
Different times call for different things, when there was peaceful times they didn't wear armour, in war of course you need to adopt armour to protect yourself.

Another reason why Revan had the most common sense between the Jedi and Sith. I’m pretty sure he went out of his way to procure the beskar.
I think the mask he found belonged to a female Mandalorian warrior but yeah I could see him acquiring beskar Revan was always a step ahead

Beskar used to be Very Easy to Acquire. The Danger was actually in Mandalorians finding out you hadn't Earned the Armor, which would cause them to Actively Hunt the "Unworthy" wearer. They usually didn't last long after that.
So the armor is useless then lol.
@@A_Black_Sheep94not really, if you can't protect yourself even with the armour then you don't really deserve the armour. Its why we see Din Djarin being such a badass because he earned every bit of it and was actually close to death when the bounty hunter's guild jumped him.

@@justjamie5006 Mandalorians aren't the only ones who have access to Beskar, who gets to decide who is or isn't worthy. If Beskar makes you a target it's not worth wearing.

I would argue Kyle rens crossgaurd is trash compared to a Beskar one. Or imagine a beskar shield.

Same reason. It was rare.
Incredibly rare and expensive. Most Mandalorians didn't even wear 50% Beskar. Besides if the Jedi or Sith were serious about using Beskar for their armies they would be much better off using Cortosis.

Mandalorians were still really dangerous. Definitely more than they were during the movies. As a group, I imagine the Sith didn’t want to make any extra enemies of them then they needed to.
In the book of sith under page 88 about Sith armor it list has quoted "beskar'kandar is plate armor cast from Mandalorian iron although it is nearly impervious to a lightsaber blade it is extremely heavy and requires the wearer to rely on a strong style or djem so combat stance" an though the book of Sith is under Legends
I love the entirety of the mandolarians, and their ways of countering jedi like "oh you can black my blaster bolts? Takes this flamethrower and buckshot jimbo, oh and also let me just casually block your magic light stick with my fore arms)

First and foremost, Jedi and Sith learned one thing in all those eras: Leave the god damn Mandalorians alone. You can negotiate with them, strike deals, avoid them, but if you touch anything that belongs to them they will gladly rally a few clans and come for your ass.

Perhaps Revan acquired some beskar from Mandalore the ultimates forces after defeating them in the mandalorian wars? I can understand beskar is heavy and all but I feel like there could’ve been a way to weave it into robes or something to not slow down Force wielders

Something just occured to me about this, when the mandalorians wiped out the catharsis, they used some sort of nuclear weapons, wouldn't that mask revan found and adopted have been irradiated by those weapons so it should of been dangerous to be in close proximity to it let alone wear it constantly
Also only the Mandalorians can properly utilize all the unique properties of beskar. Their smithing techniques are heavily guarded.
It's why Palpatine wanted to get Mandalore under Republic and later Imperial control.

Wow, that is an amazing collection (those sabers especially 😉) I don’t have a whole lot of “collectibles” per se but I do have a LOT of Star Wars lego sets that I have been collecting for about 6 years now, but I don’t know if I’ll ever have a collection like that. Great video as always!
Also beskar is ,,force resistant" it would be difficult to use force in that armor. Btw not only Revan, Darth Vader has implemented Mandalorian crushgauntlets into his suit

Dearth Vaders gauntlet gloves were make from or contained bescar, this is why he could block blaster fire ( had solo shot at him )
One could easily hide full beskar armor under jedi robes though. If they only get to see your armor when they try to kill you they wont live to be a witness.

The Jedi had access to leather that offered some Protection. Anakin dark leather fit had the most protection but due to his color scheme it worried some of the Jedi
It would have to be looted, so the honourable Jedi wouldn't desecrate a corpse for it. While Sith would have no issue with desecration of a body, taking the armour would project a message of weakness or fear of vulnerability, both which would ironically only make them more of a target.
That and stealing a suit of armour would bring down more Mandalorians on you to avenge the fallen, many of whom are experts in fighting force users.
Nah, the Jedi were religious tyrants, they'd 100% take the armor and raw beskar for 'safekeeping'.

Jedi and Sith were probably confident enough in their force abilities so they saw armour as unnecessary for them. Or even if they saw it as useful, they’d still probably prioritise defending themselves by honing their force abilities rather than by wearing armour

Jedi greatest ally is the force they predict incoming attacks with the force. They would think that dodging or reflecting a shot better than taking it.
Without armour they put all their faith in their connection to the force.

Ahsoka... Her Vambraces she wears from she seige of mandalore arch onwards are Beskar. Bo Katan and the Night Owels gave them they took her in to help hunt down Maul. Look it up
Not to mention that only the mandalorians knew how to forge Beskar
Armor restricts mobility:making you slower, compared to robes that doesn't restrict mobility.
If they did have access to beskar my two things would be either to:
1) wear thin plating so the weight wouldn't be so bad it seems even paper thin beskar is stronger than thick clone armor. I don't know how heavy it really is but it seems that can be one option.
2) have thin plated bracers on they're arms if they're so worried about the public view (which was already too late) would make a good shield for blaster bolts and lightsaber especially if they get disarmed.
Again, don't know how heavy beskar armor really is but it seems that it is doable to be very mobile and well protected at the same time without much stamina cost. But this how I see it.

Obi-Wan was onto something in the beginning of the Clone Wars with the armor he had on
On the last point, even in the Clone Wars, Jedi used armor not for protection, but rather as a way to build camaraderie with their troopers. And of course we all know, the Clone Wars was a major symptom of the Jedi failing in their role as peacekeepers.

I feel like if they did have access to beskarr they’d probably just use it in their lightsaber hilts and the shoulder and chest plates we see some Jedi wear when in battle.

Not only that reven came after Vader after Vader the armor became more available through less trick or means or sacrifice to get some. Plus reven was gifted his armor by deafeteing someone if I'm not mistaken and he just wore it forever type ish

It's a well made video that works very hard to avoid the actual reason.
1. The Jedi won the war against Mandalore and could have taken beskar then, and realistically would have. First because of how effective they just saw it be in action, and second so others couldn't use it.
2. Lightsaber forms and colors, as well as Jedi 'Ways'(like Consular, Guardian) include dedicated military specializations so it isn't like the Order would throw away massive tactical advantage to look more diplomatic. It makes absolute sense to send General(GENERAL) Kenobi into a fight in full beskar, I'm sure thousands of Jedi would prefer being impervious to lightsabers over min maxing their ability to jump higher(which they'd still be able to do in beskar, it isn't very heavy).
The reason, unfortunately, is that George Lucas wrote the world so that different factions respect unrealistic boundaries, like not turning your lightsaber off midfight or using the Force to shoot your opponent in the back with a blaster.
Also, why would I want to be agile and avoid attacks when I can just thank them using an armour and having literally 0 worries or risks

Revan wasn’t the only force user to use Mandalorian armor, because Tarre Vizsla was the first Mandalorian Jedi which is why he made the dark saber

In kotor 1 it's made clear that armour blocks jedi from using most of thier force abilities and powers

You forgot that there was a mandalorian who became a Jedi (the one that made the darksaber, but I forgot his name), and he most likely also wore beskar.

The main reason would actually most likely be due to the Jedi/Republics resentment of the Mandalorians after the long war they had faced.
Well that's because the Jedi and sith preferred to use lighter metals or if they could get there hands on it Cortosis as it was resistant to lightsabers and it could disable them as well.

I feel like none of those reasons would keep a Sith from using it and just becoming an absolute beast. That would be an awesome plot line if someone were to explore it.

The Sith and Jedi would easily get the mines for Baskar, either via diplomacy, manipulation, or force for seperate reasons. The Sith, power. The Jedi, convinced by the Republic and its people (variably).
Both Sith and Jedi wore armor. Mostly in older generations, but even Obi Wan and Anakin wore armor. Darth Vader's suit is practically Armor as is. Vast swaths of Jedi and Sith in the old republic wore armor. Not only this, but it didn't do too much to hinder their abilities.
I mean, if they gave the reason that "Beskar armor messes with force powers and would therefor be more of a hindrance than a help to force users" then that would make sense to me.
