- Brooke and I recently bought 5 acres in interior Alaska and on that land there is an abandoned survival cabin / Bunker. today we're all going to take a look at what was left inside!!!!

You might want to give the property a once over with a metal detector. Its possible they buried some guns. If they put them in in a large PVC pipe or mortar tube or such you might find the guns you didn't find in the cabin. Because I sure as hell wouldn't leave them unattended in a building. You never know.
👍👍
As Todd Brown would say , ABSOLUTELY
good idea
I would hit that with my detector in a second!
Hell yeah I also saw a stove pipe? Kind of weird that you didn't find a wood stove. Or gasifier?
Mystery and intrigue. There’s nothing quite like exploring old places like that. I got excited just watching you guys clean it lol. Thanks for another great video.
Glad you enjoyed
Me too. 😂 Whole thing was very exciting to me. I would love to have found that on a newly purchased piece of land. That's awesome. ♥️💕🕊️
Absolutely. However a "Bunker" implies that it's underground or partially underground. This is not a bunker at all. It's more of a hunting shack or a wilderness shelter for when the previous owner(s) were doing work on the land. Something that was slapped together relatively quickly. Built around that stove.
@@doejon9424 OK then. couldn't just enjoy it huh? LOL
Nothing is better than walking in the woods and finding an old building. So much mystery and intrigue
This happens to me all the time when I buy an old vintage trailer. Many times the treasures are worth more than the trailer is. I once found $1500 in cash in an envelope back behind the stove in an old trailer. You just never know. $11k for 5 acres? That's a steal. Ya done good.
Fun! And scary
All I could think was Dude-gloves!!!
You summed it up perfectly with words of broken dreams. I have come across many places that reflected broken dreams as I have hunted and explored remote areas of Canada and Appalachia. I wondered about the people and hoped they found their way. Thanx for sharing. God bless.🙂
Thanks for sharing!
You guys make me smile ! By the way, I watched that ALONE "roundup" and they did feature a checker's game but not anything about Brook's effort in Mongolia (oh well). And so.... A 12/12 Truss roof over that cynderblock structure. Even with small scale tree stock (like an ALONE structure). Then either 6 ml ~ or better 10 ml, high carbon, greenhouse grade plastic. (I hope you haven't just "knocked down" your bunker.). The Bunker probably is fairly bear proof. ~~~ My "Tarp Mahal" (the neighbor calls it that) is 24/32 feet with a 18 foot peak, 10 foot ceiling truss with gambrel roof and girts made from political sign wire (lots of that here in New Hampshire). One inch /10' conduit with "fixtures." Then the whole thing is covered with 6 ml plastic made in Israel via a distributor in Cleveland. Cost was $500.00. 20 years so far with one roof layer added 8 years ago. Takes a two foot wet snow load. Anyway I pray you keep the "Bunker" and add to it. Best wishes ~ always.
Now this is what I think is fun!! Some people like going out to bars to drink and others clothes shopping at a mall but this type of rummage hunt is so damn exciting to me! I’m so jealous! 😂
I feel the same
LOL right on
why not all of the above?
You should work in the storage industry like me. This is my everyday stuff getting left behind.WARNING is not a job if you are inclined to be a hoarder!!
Great video!! We bought a town lot property that was covered in old broken structures and trash. It cost $10k in dump fees to haul it all away. We sold it and doubled our money. The neighbors were happy to have it cleaned up and ended up buying it from our buyer to keep clear for the children to play.
awesome
Finding a strange bunker on my property would honestly freak me out at first. It definitely has a ominous vibe! Thank goodness that place was being used for its intended purpose and not something evil. Love your guys content!
She is my hero! Bottoms up for Listerine.
My wife and I just returned from the UP, having spent the better part of two months clearing the land we purchased in the Ottawa NF. During the pandemic we built a shed in the back yard based on your design, a dry run for things to come, God willing.. Great vid as always, you guys rock.
That is awesome. Good luck on the place. Thanks
We did the same thing. Ours is south of Munising, hoping to finish soon. 👍👍✌️
@Clint B we're in the Hiawatha National Forrest area of Munising. We paid a bit more than in other places, but we got what we wanted/need. 👍👍✌️
@@gary8033 Yea. Last time I looked land in the U.P. was not what I would call cheap.
@@jmsfabrication7821 yeah, I'm actually embarrassed by the amount I paid. But, it's right next door to our daughter's place, it's just the perfect situation. It's also in the Hiawatha National Forest. I keep telling myself...at least for now, it's worth it...
Can't wait to see what you guys do with the place, thanks for always making great videos!
Thanks for watching!
I hope you've kept this place quite.
I reacon it would make a great weekender after some TLC.
@@Bushradical Loved it... :)
Awesome!
To quote Lars..."SUPER AWESOME!"
I think the most valuable thing you found in that cabin was data. For example, will a sealed jar of peanuts last a really long time if I put them in a plastic bin? The answer is yes, as long as they stay sealed, they will outlast the building they are in. Does mouth wash that is sealed ever go bad? Not for many many years. Finding what will survive though the end of the world and what you have to keep always rotated and replaced is very valuable...though an old lever gun would had been cool to find, ha.
absolutely plus the structure seems sound, put a metal roof on it and use it for storage of preps and a fall back shelter.
I guarantee the peanut oil all went rancid and they will taste like garbage
@@BrianKrahmer Depending on how old it is. I am conditioned to be able to eat rancid things so I would be fine, but I can see why that would be a consern. Always have to be careful with things that have a lot of oils or surgars.
@@BrianKrahmer Nah, Peanut oil comes from crushing and boiling peanuts into absolutely nothing but liquid and as long as it is stored in a cool dry place literally never goes back. Storing it in a plastic container in the shade that never gets any sun, IN ALASKA I guarantee that it never got above 40 degrees, it's still good.
Glad you got such a good deal on the land. I can't wait to see you build on it.
Thanks
Treasure 🥰You know what they say about one man’s trash! 🥹😅😃💬🌩🙈♥️Great land and the skies are the limit Good one Dave and Brooke
That was too much fun! Brooke takes the bravery prize, for sure...
Even if there wasn't any actual "treasure", it was a great find, and what an adventure anticipating finding who-knows-what. Thanks for letting us all watch! :-D
they have a summer cabin with maybe 100hrs of work
Yeah, no kidding my lips would not have touched that mouth wash 🤮
Since its antiseptic, the alcohol would prevent the presence of bacteria or anything harmful, at worst she'd just get a bit of dust on her lips. And given how good the condition of the food was in, it shouldn't have been too much time ( over 3+ years )@@rickwaldo4150
My kids and I love watching your videos!
We have some small properties and have cleared them one will get a family built building . Thanks for all you ideas and videos!
Dave, you can still do something really cool with that building. I see a ton of potential in it!!
I was introduced to a survivalist who lived in a suburb of Albany, NY. I was shown his "fortified" basement where he had everything his family needed to live during the apocalypse. It was very impressive. That was 50 years ago???
Small world
I love exploring old houses and stuff you just never know what you would find. Love yalls channels.
Favourite channel for off grid living.
That old cabin would make a great cabin rebuild episode.
Thanks for taking us along. Enjoyed exploring the bunker with you and Brooke.
There was lots of possibilities I was anticipating to come out of that cabin but minty fresh breath was not one of them!
'Cuz if you're gonna be sittin here, at the end of the world, you're gonna need something to read.' :-)
You two are so awesome.
Thanks, Dave!
I love finding stuff like this, I can spend all day going through old stuff. I call it "going for a pig root"
Congratulations on the new property, looking forward to seeing what plans you have for this one. The biggest treasure you found here was a glimpse into a strangers life. Someone who moved around that land and made it home. Discovering a part of who this guy was. What he considered important (oral hygiene) and necessary to store...the "BAGS"!
Maybe a poacher's hideaway?
@@deedle6073 No, more like a place for a somewhat inexperienced someone to hide in the possibility of an apocalyptic event. Dig a little deeper and those guns might still be found with a stash of fishing gear to complement the survivability options.
I'll say this.. the sides look good, perhaps if you remove the junk, you can dig down, make cold storage, and put in flooring and a roof. Insulation of course... I'll bet it would make a good storage unit for the stuff that won't fit in your new house... Thinking positive on this! Can't wait to see what you build!
maybe
thought so too. i mean the roof collapsed shure but the walls withstand the weather pretty well all those years and seems pretty thick and sturdy. guess with a solid new roof this could be again a shelter for emergencys.
This was great! You two are amazing.
Another great video, thanks Dave!
How awesome this is!!! We someday hope to have a experience like you two
That was like a treasure hunt (maybe a stinky one at times) but none the less, a treasure hunt. Love the property and can't wait to see what you and Brooke do with it. Love both of y'alls videos!
Great video, thanks, Dave!
Another great video, Dave. Can't wait to see what you guys do with this place!!
Dave. Love your stuff. You are just a guy that I bet everyone liked when you were growing up. Smart and efficient. I am a big fan!
You always make your videos so down to earth but with that air if expectation and whether you find something or not one is is never disappointed. Simply filled with hope for the next adventure with you both. Thankyou Dave and Brooke much love and blessings from AuskiHeth Down Under in Aussie 🇦🇺🤗💞🙏👏✌️👍😃🇺🇲
Always fun rooting through old findings.
Loved watching the treasure hunt and I think you guys did great with that find !!!
It was so nice to see you both in a video again, I miss both your videos! 💗
Y’all are living the dream!
My wife and I bought 9 acres in the cascade mountains last year and are slowly building our dream as well.
Many blessings y’all
@@Jj-gi2uv 100% correct!! I was born and raised here so in my eyes there’s nothing better!
Do u need to pay property taxes with or without a house on your land?
Fascinating! TY for the vid!!
Was good seeing you both energised together. :)
Good morning Dave! So glad to see you, and Brooke making videos. The work you put into, and all that you do is over the top! Thanks for your Alaska road trips, and the way you guys make your videos!👍😊You are a Superb Video Presenter! Great work...
I respect that you find value in things common people see as junk. Thanks for the video! Keep em coming!
Seriously -- so few do that any more!
I love your adventures and am excited to see what you two build on that piece of property!
SCORE!!! Good times to come. Great video.
Happy to see your back , great find , I know y'all will make this a beautiful place.
Thanks
The hubs and I are currently watching you and your lovely wife on season 4 of alone and my notifications alert me to your video.. the show gets paused as I holler out "hey honey, Dave just dropped a new video!" We were not disappointed. Congrats on the new property, we can't wait to see what you two come up with next. :)
Duuuude. You are out-competing with... yourself? You need to check for old crimes in case this guy was a unibomber or something.
LOL
thanks!
Brilliant purchase and great video.
That was fun to watch. Thanks for sharing 😊
Can’t wait to see what you do with the place.
Wow, thanks for sharing the adventure! There was lots of stuff in the little shack & lots of garbage now! Many blessings to your family 🤗❤️🇨🇦
Thank you! You too!
Wish we had land like that in Australia! Great find and can't wait to see what you do with it!!
Excited to see myself 🙂
Excited to see your next adventure! God Bless the both of you! 🙏🤗🙏
Congratulations on the new property, looking forward to seeing your future projects there :)
Just watched season 4 of alone the first time with my girlfriend. I knew I recognized you from somewhere.
You and Brooke are rockstars, very few women would show no fear alone with a wolf, and very few men these days could do the hike you did. Very impressive hope all is well
YAY!!! Does this mean we get to see another cabin build?....please say yes.
So exciting! Love this kind of stuff! Carry on!💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻
You guys crack me up. Cool find.
Y'all are soooo blessed! I wish we could afford some property like that for my family. Tell Brooke I love that she prays on camera before meals. A family that prays together stays together! Sending love from East Texas! ❤️
5 acres for the price of a used Camry...that's amazing. Well done!
Within a few hours drive from where I live in Australia, despite copious amounts of land, 5 acres would be $200k+ easily (and that's for the bottom of the barrel). It definitely puts up a big hurdle to doing what you and Brooke do - so I just live vicariously :)
Yeah but alaska is not a safe place like there.
@@dougmcdougal3777 Australia.....a safe place? You obviously haven't been here then hahaha. Nearly everything wants to eat you or bite you? It's hot ASF in summer (it's nice right at the moment)
But yeah what the first guy says stands true. $200K plus
@@Jarmezrocks .......Im refering to gun crime and the idea that there is a serial killer on every corner in alaska. Highway of tears ring any bells smart guy. Id rather live along side dangerous wild animals than along side some disgusting sicko with guns when there is no one around to call for help.
The main downside to remote property in Alaska is it can be inaccessible due to snow half of the year. I also imagine getting any power lines run to your property would be difficult to impossible. :)
@@Jarmezrocks what are you saying everything what's to eat or bite us. Crocodiles spiders and snakes. Sharks in the water. No lions or tigers moose wolves
Pumas leopards
Wolves. Are you an Aussie like me. That lives here.
That was fun to watch you guys looking for treasures!
Great video Dave!!
I would really like to know the publication dates of the magazines, the expiration dates on the food and the book titles found inside. 🤗👍🥳
I'll be releasing a new video showing that soon
Love everything you guys do!!! You have inspired me to make major changes in my life. Bought a small HUD-Son Sawyer bandmill,2 old garden tractors (Allis Chalmers B,C) prompted by your Alaska log cabin video. Most importantly saving money to buy bare land (after watching cabin video build behind your house in Michigan) . When looked in the camera and told the story about the guy at the Fairbanks dump with no lower extremities. I knew right then that was no excuse!! I can do it, and am learning as I go. Thanks Dave for being an inspiration (life changing)! Your Awesome Dude!!!
Thanks, I appreciate what you're doing. Good luck with the tractors and the mill
They've inspired me as well. 🙏💜
I LOVE old abandoned buildings, this would have been So fun for me!
Thanks for another adventure! Always enjoy watching you all go thru the yuck. Hope you find something good in there. God bless you both.
Very cool.
Is there any chance that there might be an underground storage area?
Who in their right mind would build a flat roof in Alaska using 2x4 as roof joists?
Another enormously entertaining video! Thank you both for all you do, and for all you teach!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Amazing video. Keep them coming.
Yay! New project! Your project videos are the best. Can't wait to see what you do with it. Congratulations. 😎🥰
Watching from my hammock that i just hung today. Monsoon going on outside. Northern AZ tiny cabin living. Cool video
right on! I was in northern AZ last year!
What at awesome video Dave! And there must be a crazy story surrounding the "Grout Cabin," LOL. Who says no to free mouthwash?? Can't wait to see what you do up there! Cheers dude!
LOL thanks
@@Bushradical I dub thee, the "Grout House!" It's catchy and full on "dad mode" to boot!
Wow very interesting, good job, loved watching this
You and Brooke sure find interesting stuff.
Take care
I was watching to see what you two would find. Later I thought about what you did not find. A wood stove yes but a woodpile, no. I liked the cement cubby holes. This was a great idea. Tang--I am old enough at 70+ to remember Tang going to outer space. Brooke a lot of mouth rinse has alcohol in it. No wonder you didn't keel over after the swig. You and Dave are AMAZING. Thank you for sharing your adventure!
I'm very glad a came across your channel, very interesting, thank you.
Thank you both for the video.
This was fun I love this kind of stuff .
How cool! At least you found a few treasures.
Awesome. Love surprises like that. Very good price for the land. Congratulations!
That was fun. Archeological dig.😁
Nice video good to see you both
Excellent content as always! I am very intrigued to see what develops on this beautiful piece of property. Be Radical!
Cool find! Definitely items that can be recovered and utilized for sure! Nothing goes to waste if it's functional / serviceable! Thanks for sharing guys! Be safe out there!
Dave, you are a gifted story teller, and narrator!
Thanks
Wow what an interesting video guys and can’t wait to see the next one xx
SO cool... Brooke and the mouth wash! LOL!!!!!!
This is a fantastic find you can utilize ✅
Just watched and enjoy this today
That was cool! Can't believe Brooke and the mouthwash. Oh, girl! LOL!
Looking forward to the next part.
Looking forward to see what you decide to do with this property :) . What a fun/dirty day of work!
You guys just have the most fun!
So fun to see both yours and Brooke’s perspective!! The baaaaags 🤣🤣🤣
Still dying!!
This is a great video. Messy, but really cool.
Awesome! Let’s see if you can frame a roof on it if it ever gets cleaned out.
Thanks for the new video!
JACKPOT !!!
I'd feel extremely blessed to find that and all the goodies.
Learn what worked to preserve stuff and keep it safe and what didn't.
Lots of fuel for big bon fire, and I would absolutely install new roof and use that cabin.
Awesome buy !!!!!!
