I know this is going to sound weird but I really needed this video. I've been going through an ugly divorce over the last 8 months and it has been very stressful. Every time she gets me wound up I find that the sound of your voice, the scenery, the just relaxingly productive nature of your videos really helps calm me down and re-center me. Yes Dave, your videos are my therapy right now. Thank you for helping me through this mess.

Its getting warmer .Redneck Tek ' Go get you a tent and go camping. It doesn't have to be a grand tent. Camp in the backyard . They say staring into a campfire is good for everything that ails you.

Yes they do. I've lost a daughter in my divorce. I've not remarried, it's been 21 years and only been out twice on a date. I do agree that watching you Dave and your wife videos is very calming, relaxing, I appreciate that you take time to pray before you eat. Thank you for your videos.

Impressive!!!! Loved this video. I watched Brook clean off the roof an couldn't believe how good it looked. Hardly any damage. A big locust tree fell on my truck an crushed it. Can't believe that metal roof held up! Thanks

As an experienced arborist you did this pretty well! I would say it would be good to learn basic notches for some work like this. For example, the large top you had to cut down. If you had a notch on the underside, you can do a slow back cut that would allow the top to pivot down from the hinge and rest on the roof. Tying it off like you did was a good idea, it would've just allowed for a more controlled lowering.
As well as how you pulled the trunks off the other side with rope and truck. If you had put a notch that ran parallel with the walls and pulled that direction, the notch and hinge would have guided it that way, making it so there wouldn't be as much uncertainty of how it would react.
Also chainsaw chaps are cheap and will help you keep your legs, I strongly recommend picking a pair up!

I would suggest that any person taking down trees watch several of August Hunicke's videos. He is one of the best out there, and very humble in his teaching others. Just from watching those, I can see several times the guys put themselves in great danger. They are so lucky no one got hurt.

Glad you and Ryan were able to remove the trees safely. Years ago, my Father-in-law was badly injured when a limb sprung back and knocked him off an extension ladder 30 feet up a tree. Broke his shoulder and upper arm, smashed his wrist, and punctured his lung. Lucky he wasn't killed. I appreciate the care and precautions you took to get the job done without injury.

Good job, Dave & Ryan. You reminded me of an episode from my very early teens. There was a tree that had rotted and blown over and was resting on our brick wall for so long. It wasn't seen as a priority so the thing rested against the wall for years because the adjoining property was undeveloped. I was standing with my uncle chatting and I rested my hand on the tree where it was touching the dividing brick wall. The tree snapped and swatted me down to the ground like a gigantic insect and landed on top of me. It happened so fast the only thing I remember was my uncle trying to lift the darn thing off me and asking me whether I was okay. Since that day I've had a healthy respect for trees. That's why the closest trees to my house are over a 1000 feet away :-) Stay safe guys!

Come-alongs are a great piece of kit that a lot of people just don't seem to have time for. I find uses for mine all of the time rather than crying about needing an electric winch or hooking up to a truck and maybe sending someone to hospital.

Very cool video! Its fun to watch people doing dangerous things carefully. The fact that cabin withstood that weight is a testament to whomever built it.

Talk about radical! That was some serious fun. I'm so glad everything went well and the Whipple men live to tell the tale! That ladder was a thing of beauty, and I loved seeing the climatic moments from several angles (thanks, Brooke!) Thanks, Dave, it's great to see you work, this project is awesome.

Great job Dave. Our daughter is still fighting her insurance co over damage done to her home back in June. The tree that fell on her house did a tremendous amount of damage. It took 5 men and a crane to remove the 200 year old oak tree that fell on her house.

Wow !!! What a mess Dave …. I bet you were thinking , when you found these trees on this home … I’m glad there pine … if they were oak or walnut … that home would be flat … and 3 pines lay on her … talk about lucky … when you and Brooke get her rebuilt she is going to be a beauty 👍😁🏆 you and your brother did a great job

A pople is another name for an aspen. It’s pretty common in the northern Midwest, like MI, WI, and MN.

I guess it's a Northern thing. For some reason, people down here love to name streets after trees, and one the most popular names, is "Poplar". No pun intended.
