- In this video we'll be building a storage shed from the ground up using part of an old barn foundation. Hopefully you can pick up a lot of useful ideas of how to build a shed for yourself.

All these posts about contacting me for a prize.....they are scams! I'm doing my best to delete, block and remove them all, but they are NOT me. So far UA-cam hasn't taken care of this problem but it's not just this channel it seems to rampant.
They hit another contributor a month ago. I just saw a post from yet another contributors who just had it happen to her, just like you, in the past 24 hours. Hope it gets solved quickly for your channel. Take care of yourself.
Figured it was fake but didn't figure i should report it. Didn't want a ding against your channel.
I received one, figured that it was a scam and did not bite.
YT are fking useless and have no interest in anything besides protecting advertising revenue.
The scammers seem to be on a ton of popular channels, almost a compliment.
I know it sounds silly that a UA-cam channel could change your life, but for me, this one did. Gave me the courage to journey into 3 acres, live out of a wall tent on the weekends and build a little cabin. (And yes, consequently we are very very fond of our wall tent and decided to keep it up) We have five young kids and we got it done. Finally getting that wood stove in. The memories my kids now have of cutting down trees and diggin outhouse holes and sitting by a firepit on their own land is precious. Dave, you (and your wife!) inspire me. I’ve always used your videos as a guide and as inspiration. What you and Brooke share matters- thank you
Wow. Thanks! It's awesome to hear about your project.
that is soo cool! congrats
Very well said!
Not silly at all. I've learned so much about so many things from You Tube vids. I'm about to buy a 4 1/2 AC place in the country and look forward to utilizing much of this knowledge. Oh, and I'm 77 yrs old, so I better git on it. lol
I got a shithouse to.
Probably the best Ryan's ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxGZedDTcDfgD7fG_uU4esfx_EgxzlY2_1 Plans on building a shed is hardly ever found. And Ryan takes the mystery out of different types of foundation options, etc. He even shows how to build a shed with different designs. Very comprehensive, covering different roofing materials, siding, etc.
I was so excited when I saw you uploaded another building video. There is nothing that makes me feel more relaxed and forget about my problems than your videos. Your narration and outlook is just fantastic. Thanks again, Dave!
I agree with everything you said!
Amen, Tracey!
Glad you enjoy it!
I totally agree with this comment! Dave's videos are a time machine to when life was simpler. Seeing the results of a hard day's work is so satisfying, and Dave's narrating style is very soothing. This is one of my top 5 UA-cam channels. 🙌🏽
I felt exactly the same
This may sound silly, but listening to your videos in the background of whatever I'm doing brings me a certain sense of peace. Thank you kind sir.
Back when I discovered Dave and his dog Daisy going on a road trip to Alaska, I love the way Dave does things, Keep the videos coming Dave.
Thanks, Will do!
Your basic cabin video series inspired me to build a cabin in my backyard. I didn't do a few things like paint and some blocking and going back and doing it is quite a pain. I definitely learned my lesson. And just as you said in your other videos, everyone is going to make mistakes, don't let that stop you from trying something like this. There are some spots I screwed up but it's sturdy and we now have a cabin/workshop with a wood stove and camp in it on the weekends with the kids. Really enjoyable in the rain. Need to figure out a door for it though, interested to see what you put on this one.
Thanks
@@EvolutionArchive23 I'll reply for him. A, they don't "fall apart in 3 years". Even log cabins built in upper Minnesota on log foundations with moss chinking last upwards of 60 years. Additionally Him & his family have been building, upgrading, selling, repeat- for their adult lives. Dave and a small cabin, to a larger one, to more property, to more properties, etc.
Why do you sound like you're looking down on Dave for no good reason?
@@lolcatsravenight
@@EvolutionArchive23 Uh, because they choose to do things their way. How about you do things your way so we can judge you?.
@@EvolutionArchive23 Does it do you well to be angry? He didn't use your money to build it. Mind your own business and move along. But, before you go.. Let's just say, whichever shed you happen to be standing in, you're not the not sharpest tool in the shed. Learn from this. I wish you well.
I like your videos, shows how to do things yourself. Same sorta thing I want to show with videos of the cars I build. I need a storage shed, and a two car garage for my summer drivers. Snow load is the hard part in the UP, gotta built it strong enough to hold the snow or it never makes it past December. I'll be doing this next year, probably without concrete. Have to work on my south side lean to this month. I can put the walls directly on the bedrock 2 feet down from the surface.
Too bad I can't get you to stop by and give me a hand with it.. lol
Pretty cool, Dave!
I've built two small buildings alone at our off grid place in Maine following your general methods. I am no carpenter and they came out great. Solid. Dry. No frills. Thanks for the very relevant things you share.
Yea he’s fun to watch and has great methods to building. Hey I’m in Maine. Where abouts is your place ? Generally speaking. I’m in central Maine and have a camp an hour north.
Save a few bucks too😊
Dave makes work look so easy. 😂
We know better. Dave's the man!
My dewalt framing nailer has put in 30000 nails. All charged off grid. Nice job again Dave
As someone who didn't do the bird blocking when they did the rafters...yeah... it is WAY less fun to go back and do it after the roof has gone on and after you find a dead bird in your cabin when you come up for the weekend.
Love the field stone silo.
I need to build more storage myself. Always so many projects......
Oh Dang, I missed the premier. But I really love to watch these build videos, so I am enjoying it now! 🙂
Man I love this guy! His videos always leave me with a sense of wellbeing and inspired to make something. Thanks for the videos Dave 👍
Thanks for watching!
Indeed, and well said! I just Subscribed! Peace
Always such simple designs and builds, always inspires, gives Me a great Idea on how to do My 12'x8' Laundry Shower Room on My Off Grid in Northern AZ.. keep these Build Videos coming.. Thanks for Sharing!.. 👍🤠
Thanks
With a multitool, You can finish the birdsmouth cuts with it instead of a hand saw, but I use mine for about everything.
You make it look so easy, but I know I'd probably take twice as many materials and at least 4x as long to do the same haha
Amen 🙏
The real lesson I get from Dave is to slow down and enjoy the process as much as possible, which is safer as well. This seems to help me make fewer mistakes or at least be less upset about them. Striving for perfection will lead to futility.
Going to be another great and learning video. Thanks Dave 👍🏼✝️
Dave Thank you. amazing work as always!!!
You should get a 6 gallon pancake compressor it’s work good enough for one man show with one framing nailers. I removed and reframe a lot with this kind of compressor it’s useful around the house too. I love having precise and measuring with my lovely battery fancy circular saw and I own a lot of tool I work has a carpenter doing mostly concrete forming and framing being outdoors and using tools both things I enjoy.
right on
I know you put out a video about it but I still wish you would upload more frequently! Even on things I've done before I still feel like I learned a new trick and it always inspires me to keep doing things the way that I want to do them with what I have.
maybe someday I'll put out more
Could also use Brooke's oscillating multitool to finish out those birds mouth cuts. They should just rename them 'The Wonder Tool'. They make doing plunge and precision cuts super easy. Great vid.
Also, on the wood ladders...not to paint with a broad brush, but I hate to say it, it's an old guy thing. For whatever reason, old guys seem to refuse to get rid of those crappy old wood ladders. I work in homes doing service work. Most of the ladders I have are used for outside. So, if possible, I use the customers ladders so I'm not dragging dirt into their houses. Never fails. You ask a guy and if he's older they almost always trot out some rickety, wobbly, piece of garbage wood ladder that's older than I am (51). lol. Nevermind. Dirty outside ladder it is.
They are an outstanding tools.
Fun to use.
I would scale down a rope WAY before I used another wooden extension ladder
Having a place to store your stuff makes things around the property feel cleaner, well maintained.
14:07 Dave uses a sledge hammer to prune a tree. Awesome!
Watch the black widows Dave! Happy to see ya, looking forward to your build, always very interesting and clear instruction! God bless Dave and Ms Brooke!❣️🙏🏼❣️
Thanks
Thanks for this excellent how to shed build Dave. Now I'll return to household chores (laundry), and self narrate everything! Bless
Thanks for showing me what I can expect for framing when replacing some rotted wood on my lean to storage building.
About to start building my own shed. That clear roofing panels are great idea that i'm going to borrow.
Hey Dave, Great way to repurpose the old chicken coop. Looks pretty darn good too! Say hi to Brooke and all the fur babies.
Will do
Glad to see you Dave, I hope you and Brooke are doing great.
You always have great ideas and something I could look forward to to doing in the future 👍
enjoyed this Mr. Whipple . thank you
The Burke bar is such a help when working by yourself on most projects. Great repurposing job Dave.
Now you can get more stuff !!!! 😉
Burke makes cure and seal and release agent for concrete work. I think the very first Burke bar I ever saw was in a cement tool supply shop.
@@Bushradical I'm old enough that I knew Burke !!!
It looks so easy when Dave builds without plans. Seeing Daisy was such a treat, miss her sweet face.
She's a good dog
Loved seeing maisy, daisy. Love her. She is so sweet.
I love it when a Burke bar makes an appearance.
Glad to see you back with a construction project. Greetings from Ottawa.
Hello Ottawa
Sharing the simplest things, that you might not think we’re interested in watching you do, bring the biggest smiles to my face ! 😎😁. Thanks and take care Mr Whipple ! And oh yea that multi tool is an awesome invention and tool !
maybe
I love listening to you narrate. Your builds are always so interesting.
Damn! It's sooo good t'see someone usin' a hammer an not tryin t'choke th' life out of it!.. I like y'work matey! Great shed!
Thanks
brother, you are literally my serotonin, I love this channel and you
Bushradical is my favorite channel on UA-cam and Girl in the Woods is my wife's favourite channel on UA-cam. We love your guys' videos. They have been so inspirational and educational for us as I am learning how to build and we are building our little off-grid homestead up a mountain in the forest of the West Kootenays of British Columbia. Thank you so much Dave and Brooke for making these amazing and inspirational videos. As total newbies to building our off-grid homestead with no building experience, the process can be quite intimidating. These videos have served as a great lighthouse for us on our homestead building journey. God bless.
Thanks !! We appreciate that
Best of luck completing your dream castle! Love it, these two have sure changed lives for the better for soooo many. 🥰
Hey Dave! I enjoy all of your episodes ... but I especially enjoy the ones when you're building and narrating at the same time. I thoroughly enjoyed this episode. Thanks!
I gave you TU #999! Yay me! Love your narration, Dave. You kill it.
I enjoy your simplistic craftsman style.
Hi again
Good to see ya Dave.
Always get a tip or two from your inspiring vids. Always enjoy seeing how you and Brooke repurchase. Quite the creative duo!
Nice save on that old location. Enjoy your new storage shed!
Always love your narration, it’s poetic as if you’re narrating a novel! Your building skills is on point and you’re a natural with your voice! Thanks for sharing Dave
Thanks
Reminded me a little of Dick Proenneke.
I agree I just left a comment (before I saw yours) that he sounds like the narrator from the old movie from the 70s" Charlie the Lonesome Cougar"🤔👍
It's always a joy to watch your videos. 🙂👍
Glad to hear that!
Молодец, так не торопясь, потихому, соорудил себе. Умелые руки🙂👍💪
Great build Dave! Always a joy to watch you and Brooke work and build your projects!
Thanks
That was great, Dave!! I get bits and pieces of the process every time you make one of these building videos & I thank you! God bless you & yours brother🙏🙏🙏🙏
I always enjoy watching you build things.
Thanks
This is like a mental and physical tonic.
Love your channel. Just a suggestion….you should consider a framing nailer. I have a Milwaukee cordless. I think you would be quiet happy once you have one, kind a like Brooks multi tool 😋👍
Hey Dave, I've been watching you for years and love the way you tell a story as you teach. I Moved off grid about a month ago in Northern Minnesota and are experiencing the things that your videos have covered. Keep up the great work and God bless you and your family!
thanks
Dave you make it look so easy. 💪
I try
Thanks Dave for sharing your building knowledge. The information about Red headed anchor bolts are exactly what I needed for our carport build. We have an old concrete slab that we are using to rebuild a storage/carport/summer porch that we were trying to figure out how to make the walls. We were at a standstill and then I watched your new video and now we can move forward. I just had my husband watch it too so now he knows what we need to buy and how to do it. Super HUGE thank you!!
rent a rotary hammer like the one I used. The small "hammer drills" that look like a common drill don't work well.
As always, another wonderfully narrated video, good to see you Dave, the shed looks great :)
Many thanks!
Nice to see you back Dave. You made my morning. Woke up and had some coffee watching your video. Good start to the day. Nice work!
Thanks
I really enjoy these building videos and when you talk over them. The tone of the voice makes it so easy to understand what you're saying and doing. Awesome job!!! Keep'em coming. Big fan!
thanks
Sweet!!!
I love this video. You were looking at building storage. I see a new tiny greenhouse in my future. I would just enclose the open area in some way, maybe with small windows. Then get some temperature activated arms to open and close. Line openings with screening material to help keep the bugs out. Put more poly panels on the roof and halfway up the walls. Might just add a little stove for cold winter nights. I am in southern Ohio, so less cold and snow. Not sure what to do with the floor since it would be subjected to water several months of the year. If I am real ambitious, I could add a small gutter on the back that drains into a couple of rainbarrels. Thank you for the inspiration!
Great Job as usual Dave... looking forward to the next one
Thanks
정년퇴직 후 이런 꿈을 갖고 산속에 살고 싶어는데 유익한 정보 감사 합니다.
Wow, another job well done, Dave! Your videos are very inspiring and I never fail to learn something! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks
The best narration in the UA-cam world! Love the clear panels to let in the light, great build Dave, and Brooke came through with the oscillating tool, Brooke to the rescue! Love y’all’s videos! Stay radical ehh? ✌🏼❤️🙏🏼
Thanks
The oscillating tool is one of my husband's favorites. Haven't had a chance to even use it myself, yet!
@@sknap2728 I call the oscillating tool the 'magic tool' as it often gets you out of trouble.
love that ocsillating tool.. its so powerful for just those tight good cuts ya need to make sometimes inside things !! make a good clean cut accurately
I couldn't build lego....lol. But after watching some of your video's, I built a deck with a roof on top. I was proud of myself.... Lol.. Thanks from Ireland 🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪
Hello Ireland!
Most excellent storage shed! Love the clear panels on the roof. It’s almost a tiny house if it was insulated. And of course a wood stove. Thanks for sharing this with us Dave!!
Thanks
Great work Dave, I will be interested to see it when it has a door and windows too.
Thanks
Dave so nice to see you today. Great video thanks for sharing.
thanks
I will use it to build my own wood shed. Thanks. Greetings from Poland -Europe.
hello Poland!
Hey sir!! Love your videos!! I’m currently starting my own homestead and you’ve been a big motivation to me. Currently the “cabin” I’m building is a 10x12 with a lean roof like this. My trade is carpentry, although I started as a framer. I’m currently 21 and looking to fully Develop this land to be my families paradise. Thank you for all your videos and words of wisdom!
Good luck!
Great job!
Storage shed turned out great! I like the idea of using what you have. Nice boots!
Thanks
Dave, we have built your T111 cabin which we currently use all year round while building our house, we also built your simplified outhouse which we constantly get compliments on. Really want to thank you for your KISS methods of building.
Thanks......Kiss is always the way to go.
Nice build Dave, looks great.will make good storage and utilizing the old concrete foundation saved you a lot of $.Another great build down👍👌👊💪💓!
Good morning Dave ☀️,what prize? your videos are a prize in themselves very entertaining and knowledgeable.
That "prize' garbage is a spammer......they just copy and paste your picture then try to direct you to some site....If you don't catch them early on you end up removing 50 of the same spam comment.
@@Bushradical ,Thanks for the heads up Dave👊!
Nice shed. Nice to be serenaded by your guitar while watching too.
Thanks 👍
when I see a new bush radical video,I'm eager to watch it right away, A fantastic job on the storage shed dave!
Thanks
Love the videos Dave. I love building things but watching you helps me forget about what’s going on in the world today. Keep up the good work.
Thanks
I was just waiting for a video from you! I love your channel and it inspires me alot when building. I actually learned most of my basic building skills from you. Stay radical.
Thanks
Yeah man, another good one. Tight editing and smooth cut aways. Keep that oscillating tool handy, you'll be amazed at all the uses you'll find for it.
right on
Love you and your wives videos. In this crazy world, they bring me peace. Thank you.
You always make it look so simple. Absolutely love your videos wish you made more weekly but I totally get it. I will just wait patiently for the next fantastic Bushradical video.
Thanks
You should have a couple of teenagers helping you!!
Great job Mr Whipple! Larry Hahn would be proud ! Good to see Da Woof is still getting around !
I hope so.
Great job. And I liked how you kept the video on topic and not a lot of fluff.
I appreciate that!
Great video! Thanks for sharing! Keep up the good work! 👌👍
Dave, I enjoy just watching you go from 0-finished on your projects, but the thing that ma subscribe was hearing you say "You can't polish a turd...". One of my favorite sayings!
always enjoy your videos, keep em coming.
I love your garage bro… wants to live in there, lol
Thanks for giving me something interesting to watch Dave, I enjoyed it.
Dave, you are such a natural at talking to people! I feel like I am watching an episode of this old house!
LOL, Thanks
Hi Dave, always great to hear your voice and watch you work.
Thanks
Great to see you again, Dave! Job well done.
Thanks
Thats an awesome old stone silo in the back! Thanks for the video, I enjoy your style of video with a nice voice over. Cheers!
So I know this is not what this channel is about but God do I love all the old garden tractors sitting around. I'm glad I'm not the only one who collects them.
That was an awesome build. I bet everyone will love your expertise thru-out your video.

Your videos are like watching Bob Ross as a carpenter. God bless you brother, you and Brooke! Numbers 6:24-26
I was hired about 10 years ago to reseal a auto parts store roof with a aluminum reflecting seal , about 20' high , I had to use a 24' extension ladder, while I was up there the wind picked up , blew the ladder into the parking lot, there was nothing to tie it off to . My phone was in the car , I had to jump into a spruce about 8' from the roof and climb down , cut my stomach up a bit , you know I didn't fall , because I am writing this today 😬 , love the building, you never come short of great work , and I always learn something 💯🍻✌️
Awesome! It's good to hear I'm not alone in hating laters and wanting to jump into trees
