I am such a sucker for the Dragoon aesthetic - it always stood out to me as a very unique job in comparison to other MMOs, and going through Heavensward only solidified my interest in FF's dragons, so getting to fight w/ the dragon within, unleashing draconic spirits with Geirskogul, Wyrmwind Thrust, Battle Litany, etc, is a huge joy for me~ (Step over, Reaper - Dragoons have been putting dangerous beings inside themselves since the start of the base game.)
Dragoon has been my favorite final fantasy class for as long as I can remember, thanks to characters like Freya and Kain. It's also the class I played all of HW, and being the second Azure Dragoon really made everything feel cinematic. Stepping up as Ishgard's Azure Dragoon in Estinien's a sense, and felling the wrym once and for all? Fantastic
Lancer was the job I started with due to wanting to be a Dragoon so badly, and dang it I didn’t regret it ONE BIT. Going through Heavensward as a Dragoon just felt badass and right, like you truly were the Azure Dragoon’s successor. Plus the feels, don’t get me started with the feels, lol. Even after trying out every job, I just like Dragoon the most. Will always be my favorite job with HW my favorite expansion.
XD what?!?! I don't remember riding a dragon to fight Zenos I remember riding Zenos to the fight to fight Zenos what are you smokin? Zenos isn't a dragon he's a blonde!
The best thing about playing dragoon is standing next to Estinien in your dragoon gear and sharing some of his coolness. Yeah, I have a man crush on Estinien, don't pretend you don't.
My Dragoon alt character is going through the Heavensward MSQ right now. I keep standing next to Estinien for g-pose opportunities in our matching armour sets. ^ ^
I'm so happy with the complexity of DRG's rotation. It's so very satisfying when you know you're playing on point. Hoping and praying they don't mess it up with the next patch since they mentioned wanting to cut down on the amount of buttons. Doesn't bode well for folks like me that love how busy things are currently.
Thank you for making this vid! In short, didn't have a job at the time, house hopping, still had my PS4. Corny as this will sound, from the HW opener to doing the lancer to DRG (no skips) it motivated me on how to not just look at the game, but how to look at live and its challenges. Like...new players listen to the Lance GM. To conclude... I was working at a Gas station making sht for brains and being borderline homeless, to now I'm overseas working with a job that has allowed me to pay off 5K in debt to a bank as well as move away from a toxic household. Stand firm, have true courage, go through, pierce and run through the obstacles that are in your way. DRG 4LIFE! Till sea swallows all!
Close, there is one core thing that changed. You used to have to use your break to decide when to continue and when to break a combo. So core did change over time. It wasn't until the 5th combo button was added that the job becomes what known for. Before that 4th combo button only existed because the devs didn't play the class.
I started off as a lancer but when I hit lvl 50 I went to samurai as it's been the class I wanted to use when it first came out, after I'm done with my dark knight I'll probably go back to drg now instead of going to reaper.
While i'm doing other classes to get them all to level 90, Dragoon will always be my Main class i do for story, it was the class i started with and it'll always be importan to me
I literally started off as a Lancer and I'm still a Dragoon main to this day - my glam looks just like Kain Highwind from FF4 (I'm even bearing the last name Highwind on my character!) and there are some really epic moments in the (job) story line. Only thing I have to leave a remark about: It may be fun to play as DRG in CC, but I found out that in Frontlines the dragon friend can be even more fun! You just need the right set of skills pressed at the right time and you bring devastation to the other fractions in PvP! Countering some one-shot limit breaks from other jobs is also nice ;) Reaper, you'd be better off taking the job of floortanking off the Dragoon!
When I first started FFXIV I chose black mage/thaumaturge and I nearly quit the game because the combination of ARR msq slog + slow class was really weighing me down. However, by chance I found a friend that played FFXIV and I made a new character on their server. This time I picked dragoon and man do I love it. I've tried nearly all classes under level 70 and while I've enjoyed quite a few, nothing has been able to beat dragoon for me. It's so much fun!
SIMILAR THING HAPPENED TO ME!!! I got bored of how slow THM is and I tried dragoon. I’m actually still in the base game because I just started but I looooovveee dragoon so far!
started lancer and never looked to change to anything...ive tested a few jobs but the dragoon gameplay feels godly compared to the other jobs to me...flying around the battlefield
Without a doubt, SAM deals a lot of dmg but it's so boring to play as -- all other job, especially the NIN is fun to play. DRG is my main job only because it is the most consistent job I have played so far. Not too many "oofs" like the other melee jobs, you can practically use skills in any order without much of a DPS loss when you screw up.
Been playing dragoon since I first got it abt a year ago. Favorite class by far, but I hate the potency nerfs since although this might be greedy, I liked being able to compete with big dps jobs like sam, blm, and mch while having good raid utility like battle litany, and even dragon sight. Tbf I haven’t gotten to EW yet but so far I haven’t really been able to put out dps with drg that allows me to compete with a Sam who knows what they’re doing :/
Without including the damage you provide via Battle Litany and Dragon Sight, there is a 7% difference between DRG and SAM. With your raid buffs in mind SAM deal .4% more damage than DRG
You missed the best thing about dragoon, it has the ability to vertically teleport down an unlimited distance instantly! (If you jump off a cliff and do your backflip it will snap you to the floor before it starts the animation. Not really helpful in any scenario and you still take the damage, but its funny as all hell when people don't know about it)
Easy: 1. Jump/High Jump 2. Spineshatter Dive 3. Dragonfire Dive 4. Stardiver 5. Elusive Jump to arena edge of death. Extras: Estinien and almost every AF gearset. Also it's one of the few jobs SE has an idea of what they're doing.
@@jamirbingham4101 if you finished the job quest in ARR, you will recognize as the Azure dragoon in the heavensward expansion since Estinien who you encounter in ARR dragoon job quest will appear as character in the main storyline in heavensward.
Leveling experience as a first class is very poor imo. I think u play this after u have the Armory bonus exp. It plus ARR being... well... not the best, made me quit before heavensward. It took a friend promising me its worth it once u get through ARR to get me to come back. They did me a service. But that class was miserable to start with and im a mega ff dragon fanboy from all the other games.
One other reason to play dragoon: Accidentally yeeeted yourself with Elusive Jump 😂😂 other than that, i really love the lv90 drg skill wyrmwind thrust . That shit was a clean animation af
I was having fun playing DRG until I reached lvl 70-80 and it became increasingly more and more frustrating and discouraging. I’d even argue it’s more frustrating than BLM enochian. BLM you only have that and your xenoglossy timer to watch. DRG on the other hand have so many damage buffs to constantly keep track of, weave, ans refresh. Life of the Dragon, Lance Charge, Battle Litany, Dragon Sight. It’s all too much and I really wish SE can just get rid of one of them and make it auto proc like enochian
I'm just glad they cut down on timers. Keeping track of your blue buff timer *and then* timing your transition into bursty red timer was a pain in the ass for any fight that had any modicum of mechanics that cut off damage dealing or rotations. And unlike BLM, who can more or less restart from scratch and only lose their progress on Xenoglossy charges, DRG was completely reliant on maintaining those timers and you could be a useless hunk of DPS if you lost it at the wrong time.
@@Justaguy2785 You always start of with your Chaos-Combo to get the damage buff and alternativ Fullthrust->Chaos->Fullthrust->Chaos while trying to shove as many skills into your Lance Charge-window as possible.
