Thank you Despi! I'm lvling all tanks now, only GNB left to do. Didn't expect to like PLD but I just do. I like WAR for the unkillability in dungeons. I like DRK for TBN and questline. But I Love PLD for the ranged and melee phases, flexibility, circle snowflake spam and Aoe animation. Would love a more brutal holy spirit animation though (like WHM holy to holy 3).

It's my first and current job. Since I'm playing via PS4 with a controller I dread playing with stuff that has too many buttons or requires multi target selecting so I did a bit of research and saw that PLD was mostly simple. Also I'm not a fan of big axes, not as much as Sword and Shield.
The one thing that's kept me away from pld is the rigidity of its rotation. On the one hand, that rigidity keeps the flow of the class feeling consistent and predictable, and it is certainly less demanding than all of the weaving gnb and drk do, but on the other hand that rigidity also makes any mistakes that break that flow stand out like a sore thumb. This is especially noticeable if you fat finger Goring Blade instead of Royal Authority or vice versa as those skills are used in entirely different phases of your rotation, thus making recovery feel excessively awkward compared to the other tanks in my opinion.
i played paladin in wow for like 6 xpacs, ive started playing paladin and im lvl 50 now. its the class/job that just makes the most sense for how i play

Damn really? What lvl is yourr PLD rn? I've never felt that way. I recently hit 80 on DRK and leveling that job was def more on the squishy side compared to PLD
Huh. I've run PLD, DRK and GNB in HW content and PLD feels the least squishy by far, followed by GNB and DRK at the bottom. Between the constant uptime of Shelltron, having a true invul button, and Clemency if the healer drops, it feels like I'm borderline immortal. I still prefer the weave-heavy styles of DRK and GNB, but PLD was my first tank, and the only time I felt squishy was my first run of Aurum Vale, since I hadn't grabbed my gear from the Lv.45 job quest.
#1 is wrong as Nascent Flash is a thing. You can theoretically keep a party alive though amazing Cover/Divine Veil/Intervention use but its not easy. Generally what happens in a dungeon is the healer dies, a PLD could try to keep the DPS alive but its very hard. Warrior can simply use Nacent Flash, and Thrill>Shake is a much bigger shield than Veil. And all of this can be managed with zero DPS loss. Holmgang is also better than Hallowed ground as you can use it almost twice as often. Hallowed is one of the most overrated skills in the game. The fact you lose HP during holmgang means nothing with your insane ability to heal back up. Regardless, in group content none of this really matters, killing the boss without the healer makes you look cool but its not super necessary and hopefully doesn't happen often. Play what class you enjoy, I enjoy both PLD and WAR they are both fun. PLD SnS is really cool, some of the coolest weapons are PLD shields, and the separate Melee/Caster phases make the job dynamic and fun. Some of the EW skills and patch updates really smoothed out PLD and made it feel really good. WAR is fun, its fun to be OP as all hell and pretty much immune to death however the overall theme and rotation are pretty basic and lackluster. But once you play solo content with warrior its really hard to play anything else, its pretty much easy mode.
I'll never forget carrying the endsinger trial with no healers, only 3 other team members and taking it all the way to the team rez on cutscene. Legendary feeling, Paladin is great.
