- Before you wow my before-after journey, let me tell you the truth.
‼️Adapalene & Azelaic Acid is a prescription medication in Indonesia, so consult to your dermatologist‼️
I’ve been using prescription strength retinoid every night (or every other night) since 2018. So my skin is well adapted to it. But I still experienced break out even with Adapalene in my night routine. Acne is multifactorial, and I still try some new products. My skin is pretty sensitive & easilly get clogged. By far, 0.1% Adapalene cream works best on my skin, it gives me noticable result with minimum irritation (compares to tretinoin). I’ve added 20% Azelaic Acid to my morning routine since September 8th 2023. So it’s actually been 1,5 months! It’s quite challenging at the beginning to adapt with Azelaic Acid. It gives a tingling itchy sensation on the early days. I’m not sure whether I experienced a horrible purge with Azelaic Acid or it got worse because anything else, but there you see my worst skin on October 12th (check out my “skin update” HL for more details). I don’t consume any antibiotics or roacutanne or any hormonal pills. I only consume my regular supplements (vitamin D3, vitamin C, omega 3, zinc picolinate) plus extra glutathione.
There are some things that also boost the healing process :
1. I don’t use any makeup, so my skin can breathe and I don’t have to double cleanse (you’ll break your skin barrier a bit everytime you double cleanse)
2. I only use moisturizer on the dry spot occasionally (chin & jaw area), not all over the face (because my skin is getting oilier lately due to crazy hot weather in Bali & Jakarta😭)
3. I only use sunscreen on my forehead (on my safe zone that didn’t breakout as much) and avoid sun exposure as much as I can. So again, there’s no need to double cleanse as much
4. Currently in China (it’s been 6 days) with beautiful breezy cold weather
5. Avoid my acne triggering food as usual : eggs, dairy products, added sugar
6. Rinse my face with mineral water after washing my face
7. Not trying any new products and keep everything minimal
this is what works on my skin, but every skin is different
I identified my problems in diet causing acne.
1. Quit sugar
2. Eat less carbs
3. Drink plenty of water.

@@malakembabi8431got both azelaic acid 20% and tretinoin 0.5% prescribed from my dermatologist and it has transformed my skin for the better. I wouldn’t use both of them together at the beginning as tretinoin causes a lot of sensitivity and irritation. I started incorporating the azelaic acid after 6 months of tretinoin use. I usually moisturize my skin with non active moisturizers like aloe vera gel and a normal cream , then go in with tretinoin after everythings been absorbed and last but not least put the azelaic acid on top. I do this every night and in the morning i only use a moisturizer and the azelaic acid and then sunscreen. My acne is literally gone and my acne scars including hyperpigmentation have lightened up sooo much after 1 and a half year i had very bad acne before, now my skin is smooth not a single pimple except for the monthly cycle ones and the bumps are gone too. I have the glass skin is always wanted with just a small acne scar here and there but almost invisible ❤

@@Cratosa i also used niacinamide but it didnt work for me🥲i went to a dermatologist and he gave me some medicines and clindamycin. It took me 1.5 years to get rid of my acne..bt i was worried about acne marks and dark pathes. I also have hyper pigmentation ( not that much) so i started using tretinoin slowly with sandwich method so i dont brkout.After one month i started Using azelic acid.i use azelic acid in the morning and tretinoin in the night. Thats my skincare routine nowadays. It improves my skin so much

@@thecaaspirant2562 My doctor recommended to apply it on clean dry skin and to not use moisturiser over it. Basically you wash your face with a cleanser, dry until there's no moisture, and apply adapelene where you have acne.

I think the azelaic acid was doing the heavy lifting there. Retinoids are useful long-term, but azelaic acid can give quicker results
I just started Azelaic acid and I can confirm that my inflammation has gone down so fast and some of the dark spots are fading as well. I stopped adapalene for fear of comibing both but in 2 weeks time will get back to adapalene and continue azelaic acid

I have really dry and sensitive skin so I don’t use too much actives and I focus on hydration

Generally you should start with one time a week with a new active, and after you have been able to tolerate it for two weeks, up to two or three times a week. Most people I see that complain about their skin being damaged by a product with actives in it, just started using it every night like their skin was already used to it.

Terus konsul sm dokter spkk dikasih resep obat oral sama adapalene sm mediklin. Awal2 takut nyobain bgt krn takut breakout parah dan lama. Tp memberanikan diri pake. PLEASE READ: Today I had to stay for 6 hours in the hospital because of azelaic acid. After 10 days of use due to Rosaceae, my face, my eyesight, tongue and throat were swollen with strange pressure on my throat and on my chin. I had already noticed that my face was purging in the first 10 days, but I continued to use it after having seen the dermatologist for a double check. In the last two days my face started to get puffy. This morning at 04h30 AM I woke up half choking and with swollen eyes. I used Skinoren, 20% azelaic acid. At the hospital the nurse told me that she had seen more cases of reactions to azelaic acid. It triggered histamine upon renewing the deep skin tissue. This product can be dangerous. I will never ever come even near it.

Siri, can you suggest some tips on how you treated your purging on face. As mine has gotten red, burning sensation and really dry and the skin is also peeling off and forehead and cheeks even if I’m applying proper sunscreen and moisturiser but I have stopped using adapalene 1 month ago, then why is my skin showing side-effects now? I have been applying cucumber for soothing my skin but when I go to school, my forehead skin worsens even when I am in AC. Please share some advises I’m not able to study 😭
*EDIT* : I saw my new dermatologist, it’s diagnosed that I have contact dermatitis due the allergy, he gave me some anti allergic meds, clobetasol and salicylic acid ointment, which is giving great results under 2 days!!

I had a reaction against Skinoren about 2 weeks ago, too. It literary burned my skin after I've been using the same tube the whole winter with 0 side affects. The worst thing is that the irritation made the hyperpigmentation which I've been treating return all overnight. This reaction literary erased all my progress in the areas where I got it. I hope my skin won't react to it in the autumn/winter when I start using it again.

btw if you use azelaic acid make sure to add moisturizing products to your routine or it'll damage your skin barrier !! i use bioderma sebium hydra cleanser and moisturizer and it works PERFECTLY

This will works but not 12 days obviously, you'll facing purging, redness, dryness before getting clear skin. I'm using Tretenoin and Azaleic Acid alternate night for 1+ years already :)

I use evalen for the adapalene and AZA for the azelaic acid. My derm asked me to stop using azelaic acid for now because it's been 6 months using it. But keep going for the adapalene. But due to the stress and frequent traveling, my acne got worse and prescribed the oral and topical antibiotic. Now my acne has cleared up and getting a lot better. So just adapalene for the regular use. But I did everything under dermatologist advice yaa.. I won't take a risk to do things myself hihi

Here are the tips we used for my teen daughter’s acne issues. Use blue& red lite “Celluma” LED light therapy on the face. This will remove acne quicker and no scar. Also, prevent newer acne to resurface. Is better than taking acne meds & help use product with BHA-AHA less aggressively. Too much Can dry the skin out.

Since she is Indonesian, probably Evalen Gel/Cream (Adapalene) and AZA 20 for Azelaic. Pretty sure it wont be available in any countries. Just find the cheapest brand you can get as they are basically the same ingredients.

Sunscreen should always be the last step of your routine. It needs to form the protective layer over your skin. If you use foundation, give your sunscreen 10-20 minutes to set and then gently apply your foundation with a stippling motion.

If you have a really bad pimple breakout, it's better to go doctor and ask for antibiotics. Using only Skin care product will be a very slow recovery. U gotta use retinol to clear out the outer layer of skin so newer and brighter skin can emerge

I was looking for videos like this, especially the description. Cause I've been using azelaic acid for almost 2 months now, and the first 2-3 weeks, my skin started looking so good. But then, I started having small pimples all over the area where I usually have Acne and my skin so much worse now than it did before (it is true that I stilk eat eggs and dairy but I was doing that since before and even during the two weeks it got better, I changed nothing in my routine to make me have breakouts)

I didnt know what brand that did this girl used (in the video) but for me personally, i bought the Azclear an aussie brand for azeliac acid & Differin brand for the adapalene 😊 hope it helps.
