You were absolutely the bridge between having just the clean tone into Voicemeeter to actually putting it through the DAW, thank you so much I never would have thought to use the patch insert section
You sir are a frickin genius, not kidding! Iv been struggling between my pc, voicemeeter, reason daw, I RIG and the god dam amp sim for over a month now and you my friend showed me the one tiny hidden @#$%$^ switch that fixed it.
idk im having no luck when i monitor to hear my guitar in my daw and route it to hear in obs and voice meter im just getting a loud screeching feedback
Fiddled around with Potato Meter a few months ago for streaming, then got rid of it. I thought, maybe if I get another Focusrite, that should do the trick! Yeah, no... Because you can't get two of this Audiointerfaces work on the same machine. But even if you use two different PCs (or PC and laptop) it's kinda bullocks. Because you want stereo output via your standalone VST amp (and in many cases you only have a 2i2, so mic and another mono channel). :D
Thanks dude! you are a super boss. I don't know how you figured that out. Mine was still glitching but worked when reinstalled asio. Still you helped so much to understand. I wanna try the DAW thing too.
Great video ... I just got through the same setup and I have a touch of latency that's driving me nuts. What's your method with no latency (or very little)?
I messed with the buffer size until I got it to a point that didn't crackle (which VM can do at super low sizes) and the latency was manageable. If all else fails lower your sample rate to 44100. If it's there already, I don't really have a good answer.
Man I followed this a couple times and still couldn't hear anything but the raw signal with no control whatsoever via the computer. Only through the knobs on the front panel of my Audiobox96. Out of sheer frustration, in VM Potato I pulled up the setting screen and started clicking everything until I clicked in the lower right corner a blue text selecting pre vs post fader and BOOM!!! It came ALIVE!! Thank fucking God. I was about out of hair to pull out. Thought I would mention it in case someone else was unaware of that being a selection.
great. unfortunately i dont have a soundcard and my laptop has an input for microphone with a 3.5mm jack. so i use a 3.5mm jack to connect my guitar to pc and use a software like guitar rig to add effects to it. the problem is, when using asio4all, i cannot hear audio from any other sources, or use my mic to speak. im trying to find a way to use the input jack in my laptop as my guitar input. i've been looking for a solution for a long time and yet no hope...
update: well as i understood, it uses realtek hd audio as input and output. soooo, i realy dont know :| i gotta find a way to choose realtek hd audio input as the input to my chosen plugin so the guitar input goes to effect first, then set the output to voicemeeter. still dont know how.
There is a very real possibility that you need to increase your buffer size. I leave mine at 192 and that seems to have a good mix of quality with unnoticeable latency.
This was a life saver thanks. I was using BiasFX2 for the guitar insert and got terrible crackling, but I changed all the audio sample rates to 48000 and that seemed to fix everything.
hi I am using behringer umc22 and I cannot get guitar input on voicemeeter banana using the above settings, it is not detecting guitar signal, I am using it with VSThost. My mic is working great and I can hear all desktop sounds.
i was able to do that in a easier way and no significant delay but... welcome to the world of voicemeeter + guitar i have no idea how it works but it works
I no longer use Voicemeeter at all. I found a way that better works with my workflow. Video coming soon. If you happen to remember your method, please post it and share with the rest of us.
This video was very good and I followed all the step. However the overall latency between the polychrome DSp suite was not good. I am neophyte with all of this. Honestly all I want is to be able to record me playing live while using the plugin right into OBS studio just like I record my desktop or my amp with mics. Is it possible ??
Without knowing Polychrome at all, I can say you can record directly in OBS if it has a VST2 plugin. OBS doesn’t recognize VST3. So you could use OBS ASIO to route your dry guitar into OBS, add Polychrome as a plugin and it should work. You may still experience latency but that will be because OBS isn’t meant for complicated plugins. Alternatively, you could use ReaRoute from your DAW to do the same.
