    Fiddled around with Potato Meter a few months ago for streaming, then got rid of it. I thought, maybe if I get another Focusrite, that should do the trick! Yeah, no... Because you can't get two of this Audiointerfaces work on the same machine. But even if you use two different PCs (or PC and laptop) it's kinda bullocks. Because you want stereo output via your standalone VST amp (and in many cases you only have a 2i2, so mic and another mono channel). :D

    Great video ... I just got through the same setup and I have a touch of latency that's driving me nuts. What's your method with no latency (or very little)?

    • @thedbarchives
      @thedbarchives  8 місяців тому +1

      I messed with the buffer size until I got it to a point that didn't crackle (which VM can do at super low sizes) and the latency was manageable. If all else fails lower your sample rate to 44100. If it's there already, I don't really have a good answer.

    Man I followed this a couple times and still couldn't hear anything but the raw signal with no control whatsoever via the computer. Only through the knobs on the front panel of my Audiobox96. Out of sheer frustration, in VM Potato I pulled up the setting screen and started clicking everything until I clicked in the lower right corner a blue text selecting pre vs post fader and BOOM!!! It came ALIVE!! Thank fucking God. I was about out of hair to pull out. Thought I would mention it in case someone else was unaware of that being a selection.

    This video was very good and I followed all the step. However the overall latency between the polychrome DSp suite was not good.
    I am neophyte with all of this.
    Honestly all I want is to be able to record me playing live while using the plugin right into OBS studio just like I record my desktop or my amp with mics.
    Is it possible ??

    • @thedbarchives
      @thedbarchives  Рік тому

      Without knowing Polychrome at all, I can say you can record directly in OBS if it has a VST2 plugin. OBS doesn’t recognize VST3. So you could use OBS ASIO to route your dry guitar into OBS, add Polychrome as a plugin and it should work. You may still experience latency but that will be because OBS isn’t meant for complicated plugins. Alternatively, you could use ReaRoute from your DAW to do the same.

    What's the better low latency option for musicians? If you did a video on it can you link it? If not maybe you can help me based on this: I can't get my browser audio to come through my headphones anymore. It's registering in voicemeeter but not getting any actual output through my interface headphones. I hear my guitar but I'm not hearing any plug-in effects or audio from my web browser. I just wanted to be able to record (not even stream) whatever I was playing a long with AND my guitar separately in reaper..

    • @thedbarchives
      @thedbarchives  2 роки тому

      Personally, I just stick to ReaRoute, haven't done a video on it just yet though.
      If it's registering in Voicemeeter, check that you haven't accidentally turned off the output button (A1, A2, B1 etc). Since you can hear your guitar but not your plugins etc have you checked your audio interface's direct monitoring setting? I don't know why it would cut any audio out, but if you have a 3rd gen Focusrite anything (bad) is possible lol.
      Let me know your setup, I might be able to tell you a bit more if I know exactly what you're using.
