Awesome video. Thank you! If it didn't work right away guys, really make sure you followed every exact step. I even followed the steps one time through and had to reinstall Reaper again but it does work. When in doubt, reinstall.
And to make things more confusing, it seems like every time there is a software update, I have to do the process over again. It sucks, but until a DAW and the likes of an OBS get together and work something out, it's the only way I can figure out how to make it continue to work.
@@myguitarjourney3002 thanks a lot! i tested and it works! but there still one question left. how can i hear my guitar if i have usb headphones connected to my pc. can i output sound from reaper to my pc`s soundcard? the only way that ive found is to turn on monitoring in obs`s advanced audio properties BUT it has a big delay... and its hard to play properly irl and listen to the mess in headphones..

Just adding this in case anyone else comes up to it - When I was going through these steps, the latest version of the OBS-ASIO plugin was 3.0.3, not the 2.0.2 in the video. 3.0.0 did not work (something about bassasio issues), so I went back and installed the 2.0.3 (the second latest version) and it worked.

great video, accidentally stumbled upon it, I see that people complain that the OBS-ASIO plugin does not appear, you have to install reaper on c program files common files VST, if you don't have a folder, create it and just follow the tutorial and the plugins will appear
First off, great video! This is extremely helpful and should get most, if not all, people streaming epic guitar riffs. However, it is even easier than how you have it demonstrated... 1) You downloaded ReaPlugs but never configured it in Reaper. You used the built-in ReaStream (Cockos) plug-in that comes with Reaper, not ReaPlugs ReaStream (ReaPlugs edition). So the step of downloading and installing ReaPlugs is technically not needed. Just use the built-in ReaStream (Cockos) plug-in as you did and call it good. To use ReaPlugs ReaStream (ReaPlugs edition) you first need to go to Options > Preferences > Plug-ins > VST and add the path to the ReaPlugs package you just installed (C:\Program Files\VSTPlugins\ReaPlugs). Reaper does not see this directory by default (at least on my install and clearly on your install because you didn't use it). Once you do this, hit the [Re-scan] button and Reaper will be configured to use ReaPlugs ReaStream (ReaPlugs edition). 2) You don't have the link to the OBS-ASIO plug-in in your description. This is easy enough to Google and find it though. Also, OBS-ASIO is technically not needed either. See #3. 3) The OBS-ASIO plug-in is technically not needed. All you have to do is add any input device and apply the ReaStream filter. In my case I just used the "default" input device which is my Desktop Audio. I applied the filter and off we go. I also have mix/aux inputs from my sound card that I do not use so I can add my audio card mic/aux as an input, apply the filter and off we go... (lots of ways to get there). You can even apply the filter to your USB mic input or any other input not currently being used so long as you add the ReaStream filter you will get the Reaper audio (with FX) in OBS. Adding the OBS-ASIO plug-in gives you an additional input device that you can use to configure ReaStream and have its own independent item in the audio mixer. Again, technically not needed but provides additional flexibility and configuration for your audio mixing, so it is a good thing. Again, your video was great and it gave me a head start for sure. But at the end of the day you don't need to download and install anything. You can accomplish what you are trying to do with the built-in plug-ins from Reaper and the standard VST 2.x plug-in support in OBS (VST2 > Standalone).
OK... So by default OBS will look in the install directory for ReaPlugs to gain access to the ReaStream VST2.x plug-in. So, installing ReaPlugs is not a bad thing and will make it ever so slightly easy for OBS to find the plug-in (it just works). Alternatively, you can point OBS to a different location to use the ReaStream plug-in that comes with Reapers (To my knowledge and I think this is how I have it setup. Again, great video and this armed me with enough info to get it all working. The confusion comes from the nth number of ways this can be done... Do your research and use what works best for you, but this video certainly gets the ball rolling.
@@ErgMaN_2point0 hey thanks for the clarification. I recently set up ReaStream from Reaper to OBS and I was wondering why the extra setup and steps would be required. It's working great for me, at least when recording in OBS. Got a couple of questions for you, if you don't mind: 1) Do you know if there is any difference between the ReaPlugs version and the built-in version of ReaStream? Good vid! I didn't know about the OBS to Asio and the ReaRoute option. I might give those a go. I have had pretty good success without those two items, however. As for an Audio Input source in OBS; as long as you can choose an unused audio device you can connect the ReaStream plugin. I choose my webcam mic since I don't use it. I turn the volume down with a gain plugin and then add the ReaStream plugin...works great. I think you can also use an already used input as well if you add the gain plugin and turn it down before the ReaStream. It might keep things a little more lean for OBS to process...plus you don't have to do all of the extra steps every time you reinstall.

Man, you saved me so much time. Thank you so much! And btw, you don't technically have to do a complete uninstall and reinstall of reaper. That way, you can keep all your settings/layout/themes/etc and bypass having to do the whole setup again. That's what I did.
I just started watching, but the banana didn't worked for me. I have Studio One and everyone says banana works, but not for me. If this video doesn't gives me clues on how to fix it on Studio One, I might change to Reaper lol. I have hardware synths with no usb connections so the $60 license may be excellent for me as I could keep mixing stuff on S1
Can you do a video on how to do this on Apple laptops? I want to have reverb on my vocals and some EQ. So I think I need to use a DAW cause I don't have a mixer.
Hi there! I thought your video was extremely useful, and for a while, it worked like a charm! ... Unfortunately, I've encountered an issue where the audio coming from the DAW sounds absolutely distorted. I feel like it may have something to do with the ASIO input, as the DAW sounds fine in the headset (did some test recordings to figure out). Do you have any insight on this, perchance? Keep up the good work! Cheers!
I've found the fix! At the time of the video, the version of the obs asio plug in was the 2.0, but the latest is the 3.0. When i followed the tutorial i went for the latest version and it didn't worked, but when i tried the version 2.0 it works completely fine!! So there you go, just install that version and it will be solved!
@@CoMeTOficial It didn't help me :( . I've reinstalled obs, obs-asio, but the sound is still too distorted, even tho I've turned on clean preset in ToneLib GFX plugin. Any ideas how can I fix this>?
Everything in this video worked, but the only problem I'm running into is the distortion/FX from my Bias FX isn't coming through. It's just a dry, clean signal. Any help would be much appreciated.
im using software amps. been trying to make restream work for years, finally can because of you. however the audio from my guitar and vst amps is coming out staticky and unbearable to hear.
All was going well until I looked for "AISO input capture" in OBS ... it is not there... bummer. Followed the steps to the T. Guess I am screwed on this. I am using Cakewalk by Bandlab.. alas... this video helped a teeny bit. oh well.
@@guiadorno10 Never had any answer... I simply decided to stream using directly my audio interface on which I plug my mixing console with the FX on the sources I want, instead of using a DAW to get the same thing. Gain of time and less frustration for a similar result.

I am trying to use a Zoom Q2N 4k camera for video and voice connected via USB. I can't seem to get video and the stereo audio from the Zoom Q2N camera. Is there a setting in OBS to add this?
Everything so far is working except for the fact that it doesn't show my plugins when I add the filter. This keeps happening and I followed so many instructions step by step. For some reason slobs or OBS can't find my plugins

Can you do a video on how to do this on Apple laptops? I want to have reverb on my vocals and some EQ. So I think I need to use a DAW cause I don't have a mixer.
Great explanation ! But im curious on how to livestreaming using daw reaper with iphone camera ?
The only tutorial I need. That Banana video cracked me haha.
Cheers!
I've been getting the same issue... Have you been able to fix it?
same here, let me know if you find a fix.

None of the plugins are there despite following the steps to the T. I think it might be a path issue. Any ideas on how to get OBS to see the plugins?
Awesome but am I going to lose my files if I reinstall reaper?
Everything in this video worked, but the only problem I'm running into is the distortion/FX from my Bias FX isn't coming through. It's just a dry, clean signal. Any help would be much appreciated.
I am trying to take the output from Scarlett and send it out to the stream using Streamlabs OBS.
God bless you man! Thank you so much!
You are awesome. Enough said.
Not sure if anyone has come across this but after finish all steps and everything works, the audio seems to be cracking a lot for some reason
Great video. Thank you for this
This worked, thank you!
Great job. Perfect explanation, great solution to persistent problem!
im using software amps. been trying to make restream work for years, finally can because of you. however the audio from my guitar and vst amps is coming out staticky and unbearable to hear.
Thanks from Sweden. 👌👍
in the last step, selecting the vst 2.x plugin reastream standalone
when i open the dropdown nothings shows up... does anyone know why?
That's because OBS can't find any plugins. You have to install the plugin in programfiles/vstplugins for both your daw and OBS
Really good video, but for some reason my audio is distorted and i dont understand why :/
Thank You Very Much !!!! It works great now :)
Dude! THIS IS A GAME CHANGER!!!!
Glad to help!
I don't understand how you got from Choose install location to choose components. I'm missing something.
Can you further do more videos bout this?
Unfortunately, Rearoute does not work in the most recent update of reaper. Rearoute is there but fails to scann .
im using a scarlett solo but how come it doesnt show up the asio input capture
what now?
All was going well until I looked for "AISO input capture" in OBS ... it is not there... bummer. Followed the steps to the T. Guess I am screwed on this. I am using Cakewalk by Bandlab.. alas... this video helped a teeny bit. oh well.
Same shit for me. I used exactly what is shown in this video. Reaper, OBS, all the little plugins. But no, it's not working either.
@@thencametherain1020 same here guys! I can´t figure out what went wrog!
@@guiadorno10 Never had any answer... I simply decided to stream using directly my audio interface on which I plug my mixing console with the FX on the sources I want, instead of using a DAW to get the same thing. Gain of time and less frustration for a similar result.
you are amazing!! thank you.
OMG that did the trick! 🤘🤘
Thanks for this I was so frustrated with the no guitar sound great fix. Is there a method to doing this with streamlabs OBS as well?
You da man! Thank you for the tutorial! This helped immensely!
I have my reaper set to using 2 channels in windows settings, and somehow when my input 2 sends guitar into reaper it's being hear by input one and vice versa. I've used it this way before and it didn't happen so I don't know what I did wrong.
Thanks man this help me a lot! cheers
Just having problems getting reastream to show up in the filters on obs
where is the link to the gitrhub
Well play ! But I have a issue at home with this technic. I own a bunch of plugins, like hundreds. So when i go there 12:24. I don't see the rea plugins only and I can't explore the list. So i am F**.
thanks for this detailed tutorial. really help.
Glad it was helpful!
So I can't hear anything, I have it setup and it looks like the OBS is capturing the input. But I can't hear the guitar on Reaper or OBS
"Do I wanna run Reaper? Noooooo!" Funny bloke :D
I followed your video but i dont see reastram standalone in filters
obs does not detect the "reastream", why?
I am trying to use a Zoom Q2N 4k camera for video and voice connected via USB. I can't seem to get video and the stereo audio from the Zoom Q2N camera. Is there a setting in OBS to add this?
Everything so far is working except for the fact that it doesn't show my plugins when I add the filter. This keeps happening and I followed so many instructions step by step. For some reason slobs or OBS can't find my plugins
Thank you for this information I appreciate it. I wonder why I don't see any signal coming in from track 1 and 2 to my "master" .
