Was literally thinking to myself yesterday how odd it was that Regular Cars has never reviewed a Yaris, it's one of the most regular cars around. And now this comes out!
I DUG an abandoned ‘88 Tercel out of the Michigan mud and got it to work. 5 months later I flipped, yes flipped it in to a ditch after slamming a curb. Rear axle was bent, front steering 30’ off axis. Drove it for another three years. Toyota Tercel. The car for those that have no fucks to give.
Kevin Quattro I learned standard on a ‘92 Tercel I bought from my friend for $100. That had been on it’s side and ROOF because of us “rallying” our cars in fields. Had around 240K when I bought it. Drove that go kart around for two years until the floor fell out of it. Best little car I’ve ever owned. It was fun, it was bulletproof, got awesome miles, and just didn’t give a fuck. Mine was like that too. Leaked a bit of oil but always started fast and strong. Got me through 2 years after I came back from Iraq broke because my ex wife spent all the money I'd made. As depressing as that sounds that Tercel I got to 1k was such a God send to me. Holds a special place in my heart.
My wife had a Tercel that was t-boned and poorly rebuilt it was driven hard until it basically gave up. I loved the honesty and simplicity of that car... yaris isnt a tercel
Yeah one review will be an introspective philosophical look on life and the next will just be him shouting "HOT DICKS" for a minute straight. Gotta love it
Sounds like a 1999 Corolla. Bland as shit. Boring. Not fast or what a teenager wants. But its loyal and reliable, with histories that you have been told about it from your family, and plenty of memories to make once you do own it. Like an old dog in a way. And when it finally dies, boy its that painful. Anyways, ill buy myself a Peugeot 206 GTI because 140hp naturally aspirated 2liter manual subcompact hatchback sounds REALLY fun lol. Also, 7350rpm redline goes brapbrapbrap And its 2500€. Im sorry Corolla/Yaris
Exactly this. I got my grandma’s ‘08 Sedan. 90 thousand miles, never have had a single issue besides the serpentine belt. I never wanted it, but that car is my shitbox and I love it.
As the owner of a manual, 3-door, 2007 Yaris I was scared as hell for this review. Then I remembered Mr. Regular used to have an echo and I relaxed considerably.
@@krissajade34 Very nice. I got mine 5 or 6 years ago. 100k miles, bought for I believe 5k or 5.5k, now am at 165k miles and have only had to do regular maintenance. The thing has been across the country and back 3 times with me. :)
I had a '09 3-door 5-speed Yaris S, which supposedly is rare as hell. If I hadn't fallen on hard times back in the day and gotten it repoed, I'd probably still have it.
@@krys8494 not necessarily a bubble but with the emergence of mainstream socialism in politics and the upcoming election it could get pretty sketchy fast. Also the fact that interest rates have been held artificially low for so long and banks have been borrowing from the Fed just to keep their books even is quite disturbing.
I bought my 3 door Yaris 10 years ago. It's seen me through almost my entire adult life. It's my 'alternate' car now - for solo commutes. Every time I drive it, it reminds me of a faithful pet. The joyful racket it makes as it attempts to accelerate, says, "I'm a good boy, right?" It's just so eager to please. I don't care if it accelerates in twice the time of my primary car; it's the best boy. Thank you for giving the Yaris the love it deserves.
I share the same sentiment for my '07 with a manual. When I got it I replaced the wheels with cheap alloy wheels that you can purchase at a Discount tire and a Pioneer head unit. Otherwise it still in stock trim just the way I like it. What have you done to yours since you purchased it 10 years ago?
@@LusoiHardware I lost a hubcap in my first week of ownership. Immediately replaced the stock wheels with cheap aftermarket alloys. Other than that and a new muffler, because the old one rusted out, mine is also completely stock.
It's a good car for sure, I had one for 10 years. Engine goes like a tractor engine, but that's fine. Near equal torque to hp is good in an economy car.
Yes!! That's how I feel about my 2010 Yaris sedan, she's the best girl. Has over 180k miles and I plan to keep her as long as I possibly can! She's even gotten me 51 mpg once on a long trip! Best car I've ever had
LusoiHardware Exactly, no need to wash off the dirt, when the clear coat comes off easier. Maybe I’ll get a rat rod patina when it hits a million miles.
well normal wax wears off around 3 month in. so not waxing a car will make the paint flake off. wax it at least 2 times a year and it should last a lot longer.
Light wins, neighbor has a tiny 80s s10 and it never gets stuck, it's got cheapy highway tires, he works for the city and drives on muddy dirt roads all the time, 6000+ pound dually sinks and has trouble even with knobbies, his s10 could give less of a fuck about what it drives in.
@@ianholmquist8492 cars have been getting heavier primarily for safety for decades. And they are more powerful on average now than ever before. Sadly the weight increase decreases fuel economy, reliability, and driving enjoyment in general. If the auto industry had invested in higher strength to weigh materials and structures we would be in a better place. But it was a forgone conclusion that a bigger horsepower number to put on the window sticker is where they put their r&d dollars.
@@jayislanderown an Indonesian version of it. Still running for 15 years and without any major hiccups. The noticeable problem is the noisy front suspension and noisy interior.
I love my Yaris! I can’t even think about replacing it! It’s just so perfect. Nice looking. Good on gas. Rides nice. Accelerates well. Always a parking spot available. So reliable! No problems whatsoever.
Ill get a 206 for the same reasons! And the age is just right for them to be cheap as hell, for 2500€ you can buy a GTI making 140hp and 5 speed manual
Aw I’m so glad you guys finally reviewed a Yaris!!! I absolutely love my 2007 Yaris Sedan to death. The 5 Speed Manual makes it peppy as hell. 274,000 Miles on the Odometer, still going strong.
When my Prius went in for "factory recall" they gave me a Toyota CRV, which was nice. When they returned my Prius, it had a full internal and external valet and a full tank of gas, win-win.
That engine may not be particularly powerful, however it is quite smooth, quiet, and with a fairly flat torque curve. It will run at high rpm's all day long. It will last nearly forever.
i have an 2008 Yaris TS 1.8L 133 HP, it is lower than a standard Yaris, has Sport-Seats, Automatic AC and a nice 5 Speed Manual Trans. Its really fun :)
@@Syncopia but the 1.5 does have the "electro cam nonsense" and "variable intake wizardry". It says it right on the engine in big silver letters VVT-i. Those there darn dohickees can be a pain in some other car brands.... toyota has perfected it by then though and was bullet proof. I believe the last small 4 banger without vvti was the 1zzfe 1.8L in 99. I had a 99 corolla which was the last year you could get it without VVT-i.
My college girlfriend and I drove her mom’s 2010 Yaris from upstate NY to New Orleans for Mardi Gras and back up with no problems. It’s a great little car.
@@OffGridInvestor Mr Regular and I share a similar sense of humor Finding his channel years ago was the single most validating moment I've had on the internet.
@TacticalMoonstone I learned to drive stick on a 2dr Ford Aspire/Kia Avella that had a broken left rear axle. I know a thing or two about tiny deathtraps, driving it down I-87 was _terrifying_ because the ice heaves made the car bounce all over.
Yes.. i have driven white toyotas as daylies for 20 yrs now. They have been as reliable as refrigerators but unfortunately just as exciting. I also have an old pontiac gto to remind me that theres joy to be found in mashing the accelerator.
"Someone who still believes in holding on to something until it no longer functions rather than trading up the moment that thing becomes outdated" Das me. I felt that.
@@jayislander Yes sir. The Yaris is a really reliable vehicle and is very cheap in terms of maintenance. So reliable in fact that I use it as my winter vehicle.
Do we need our own special names? Remember the Volkswagen golf was originally called rabbit in the US. They even brought it back for a while in the 2000s
I essentially have one of these. I have 2006 Scion xA. Great car. Nothing awesome about it with the exception of the sound system. Just solid, reliable, transportation.
I bought an '07 yaris hatch in 2006 for $13,500. It had 5 miles on the odometer when I took it off the lot. It had bare bones features. It was slow, not particularly good looking, and booring as hell. 10 years later when I sold it It had 215,000 miles on the odometer, and aside from tires, brakes, and oil changes the entire maintenance It required was one belt replacement, and 3 batteries. The clutch was still perfect, and the car was still getting 40+ mpg. I don't think I'll ever find another vehicle that inexpensive yet still that unbelievably reliable.
My girl has had her Yaris in her family since ‘07 when bought brand new. My Uncle has had his since ‘08 brand new. Both have NEVER had literally, and I mean literally nothing changed on them, except essential fluids and the shocks ONCE on each car. And both have pushed past 350k miles. I gotta hand it to Toyota for the Yaris. These cars really are, what we deserve.
I bought my 07 Yaris in 2020 for $3k. 130k on the odo, now up to 150. Yes, struts! The rears were in awful shape when I bought it so those were the first to be replaced. I'll be doing the front struts and sway bar next month. It did need a new alternator in 2022. Had to replace the parking brake line this year, Had to do front rotors this year to get it to pass inspection but I'm in PA so you get a good deal of rust here. Other than that, oil changes are all it's needed. I don't think I could kill the damn thing if I tried. I will drive it until it dies, which may be another decade away.
I'd argue that sales _dropped off_ because of the recession. The college kids who used to reliably buy brand-new bargain-basement cars couldn't even afford that anymore and had to settle for used ones.
'08 was the recession, but the really high gas prices were in 2007. That's when I first saw a Honda Fit and wanted one. Then in 08 I saw the Yaris and replaced my Sentra S.
This has to be the best interior in history in therms of practicality. The amount of storage and boxes, cupholders, little trays underneath the seats, door cards that could fit a big water bottle, the rear seats were adjustable for legroom or boot storage and also folded dead flat, additional storage pockets underneath the boot...
I love it when i saw a review of car that i actually familiar with, its really fun to see an older american car review,or a full size truck review, but this...i can actually understand what you talking about(owned one before)
Now THIS is a regular car! I've always liked the look of this car and it was always on my "interested in owning" list since it came out in 2007. I've always liked little rounded hatch backs like this.
I love my Yaris hatch. It’s been my trusty daily for years. I have a heavily modded sw20 mr2 turbo as my fun car but a Yaris with suspension work and bolt ons is a fun car as well. There’s something about driving a slow car full send without worrying if it will kill you that brings complete satisfaction.
God damn this channel can be amazing when it really wants to be. The whole touch on dealing with The Self, our possessions, how we view the Earth in relation to us was such a big change in speed but still pretty flown with the Yaris. The fact that these come out a 3am is the best best part. I swear whoever writes the script is a Humanities professor or something.
my 02 echo only has 139k on it and I'm buying an 07 yaris with 22k on the clock tomorrow. Was going to drive my echo into the ground but couldn't pass on a basically new yaris.
It deserves that scathing interior description. A coworker bought a new one and sold me his old Nissan Hardbody. I rode around in it a few weeks later after I'd sorted-out the problems with the Hardbody that were so bad the dealership wouldn't take it in-trade (particularly brake and ABS lights on the dash, it needed a full brake job) and frankly the Hardbody was far more comfortable both in ride and in interior comforts, despite being a five speed manual with hand-crank windows and having over a hundred thousand miles' wear on the driver's seat. If they'd made the Yaris interior nice, it probably would have seen its exterior quirks and underpowered engine overlooked a bit. The seats on even a brand new one were low, hard, and shaped to not provide good back support. The lack of cluster behind the steering wheel was disconcerting. The inside was roomy for the size of car, but felt cold and uninviting.
I've been driving a Yaris 2009 manual for a few years now and every time i drive it I fall in love with the simplicity!!!!!! I don't need no fancy gadgets. The car has never let me down. I respect it and will drive it till the wheels fall off.
I drove my 2003 Echo after 300,000 then I gave it to my girlfriend she proceeded to damaged every corner on the little car but still runs good despite her not keeping track of the little things like checking the fluids once in awhile. I told her to start looking for a five-door hatchback Yaris to replace the echo.. little cars never let me down gas mileage is awesome❤
This yaris kinda brings things full circle for RCR. It all started with the Echo and now the Yaris is finally revived; the spiritual successor to the Echo
I've got a 2010 Yaris. It's a hatchback with a manual transmission. It's even got crank windows in it. It didn't have cruse control but I added it in (was incredibly simple to add) A few things about the manual though, you aren't going to get 40 mpg all day. When everythings running perfectly I'd regularly get 38 but lately 35 has been good (probably winter fuel and whatnot) But my manual does have a tachometer and it's pretty dang fun to drive too. The manual has lower gear ratios then the automatic. And will go up as fast as you can pretty happily in 3rd gear, which will take you to almost 90 miles per hour. But it does not like going any faster once you shift into 4th and I mean that makes sense, it's max speed is 110mph. Mine I bought at 100k miles and it's up to almost 170k now after 2 years of delivering pizza and a 40 mile dayly commute for school. Then another 2 years of very light driving (I put 50k on that first two years and now I've added the 15-20k in the last 2). I've never had any significant issues with the vehicle and I think it's fantastic.
My gf has an '07 5 speed sedan. I'd like to get her some foglights and cruise control. Are there kits for that? If so, can you please direct me to them. Thank you
Basically the car has payed for itself. The Yaris is also one of those "world cars", ie. you can see one in South Africa, Thailand, Russia, Denmark and of course in every South European country like Spain or Italy. For a small Toyota another advantage is that a car like that still has decent resale value.
@@redevilrrr I bought it, or my parents did I suppose, I payed most of it off to them eventually. Instead of fixing a 99 Buick with a blown head gasket. It's payed the difference between the repair estimate and the Yaris off in fuel savings alone. Combine that with that my work (Pizza hut) payed me more (like 3x more because it's newer) per mile and it not breaking down? I've been very happy
i went 124 mph in my 1.3l 87hp 2006 Yaris. Thanks to a very very long downhill section on the Autobahn at night and the will to posssibly blow up the engine and die. You really don't wanna go faster than 110 mph in these things, it's super sketchy. You almost redline in 5th gear at 124mph. There is like 300 rpms left to go.
My ex had one of these and for the money it's one of the best cars I've ever driven. It was quite zippy too. Everything was perfect in it's simplicity.
You know I had one of these until someone ran a red and totaled it. I was literally crying not just because I lost my car-because I lost my 2008 Toyota Yaris. That should say how valuable these cars secretly are. I’m still sad about it to this day😢
i'm still mourning over my gen 1 2003 yaris too. flew out of a curve and totaled it myself, it flipped and everything, slight frame damage too but besides whiplash literally nothing happened to me. in the hospital the nurse just went: yo what happened - got into a car accident - what car? - a toyota yaris - those are great no wonder nothing serious happened to you. and then we just talked about toyotas until we arrived at my room got myself a gen 2 2009 yaris afterwards lmao. i love this car to death
Toyotas just do it for him. It's like watching a friend yearn after every mousey-haired waitress who does her job competently and efficiently but without any particular flair or enthusiasm. I don't get it, but that's okay. It's a non-threatening romance. (Until he tells me I must not like sunsets if I'm not into her.)
I have a 2010 5door hatch auto. Got it for $1200 off a friend with 90k on it. It’s only a little bit embarrassing to drive, but I’ll take it, because holy hell is it reliable. Use it for work, buzzing around Philly. Up to 152k now, and I just added cruise control because it costs $13 to buy the stalk and drill a hole, install and boom, cruise control. What a great car for just bopping around.
I have a 2014 Yaris. 135k+ miles, simple maintenance, and absolutely no mechanical issues. You will be flooring it alot for overtakes on the highway, but I just love this car! 🙂
Really REALLY appreciate the moments where Regular's english degree shines through and it feels like the kind of interesting sassy but informed paper that was so rare in academia
..i take it that this guy is a Literature major. As goofy as he is i'm very impressed how he uses quotes from classic literature and that's pretty dang cool.
They've lampshaded it a few times in other videos. I think at one point Mr. Regular outright stated "gotta use these English degrees for something" before dropping into a treatise on Walden Pond.
Mickey the Luxray That’s what’s so great about this channel. I’m not too much of a car guy but these are so entertaining to watch because one moment it’s a car review, the next moment it’s an analysis of classic literature, and the next moment it’s BROWN
I saw them in 85. You didn't miss anything, worst 8 Bucks I ever spent, other than the fact I can say " Yeah, I saw the Crue back in 85." P.S. I did the inflation calculator and that works out to 19 Bucks in today's money. The price of concerts has gotten out of hand.
@@Rysander1 The 85 show was "Theater of Pain" tour and we saw them at a general admission show at the UNI(University of Northern Iowa) Dome in Cedar Falls, Iowa. Loudness opened up for them. The UNI Dome had/has TERRIBLE acoustics so that didn't help anything for sure, but a buddy talked me into the show, the Crue were never really my band so that has something to do with my memory of the show. I remember about 25K fucked up people screaming and yelling... a lot. But, I will say, Motley Crue got more Iowa girls from the ages of probably 14 and up to show their boobs than any other band I have ever seen. Edit. I was in high school at the time so it was OK for me to be checking out freshman boobs at the time so get yer minds out of the gutter.
Got a 1.0 3V, 5M, 5dr Yaris II from 2006. Got it from a family in my country in 2019 for 2600$ like new, who got it in 2017 for 3300$. Complete service history, only oil and filters every 15K, and in 2011 original alternator for 350$. Nothing else. Little scratches, nothing apparent on first look. 1.0 54kW for city and max 100Km/h - 60Mph is great. On highways 110-120 is possbile, but already weaker. The 1.33 Yaris II from 2013 had no isssues at all pulling 4 grown men on any road. I still drive those other 3 men on the 1.0 Yaris II, but it shines urben drive mostly. Its a great car and I couldnt buy anything better sub 3000$ in my country despite like 40K second hand cars. I actually prefer it to drive to our octavia 2016 2.0L
My 2007 Yaris Hatch with manual transmission is by far the best car I've ever owned. Reliable and easy to maintain. I've had it for almost 18 years without a single regret. I highly recommend the Luficar Xf Ob2 Gauge Display to keep an eye on things.
I owned this exact car, bought it brand new in 2008. Lovely dark blue. I don't care what anyone says, I loved this car. I firmly believe that it is sort of a spiritual heir to the original VW Beetle - cheap, affordable to own, great on gas, utilitarian while still having a quirky personality. The newer ones are just nice small cars. The 2007-2008 had that quirky look to them. I routinely got 30mpg, even thrashing it around town in traffic. With the rear seat folded down you'd be amazed what you can squeeze in the back. Nothing could go wrong...roll down windows, manual locks, side mirror you had to push into place, parking it in town was a joke, only a SmartForTwo could beat it in that respect. Only reason I sold it was I needed a bigger CUV, sold it to a buddy that kept it for a few more years then sold it to someone else.
I LOVE MY 2008 TOYOTA YARIS!!!!!! 😆😆😆❤🚙 I Have had her since 2012, and I will NEVER get rid of her! I have carried; bales of straw, 55 gallon drums, palates, 8 goats, and even a calf, in the handy fold down back seat hatchback. I have taken her in the desert, and in the woods, up a logging road on the side of a mountain. This is the most perfect car in the universe. Hands down.
Speaking of you yanks. Why the hell would you spend money on getting an automatic gearbox in a Yaris?!? That's like getting jewel encrusted rivets in your work jeans.
@@ShadowFalcon the only reason these were sold in NA with a manual was to advertise a low MSRP for the base model. If you wanted AC and remote keyless you'd have to get an auto. Economy of scale, auto was probably cheaper to produce since the target buyer does not want a manual. They want a cheap reliable vehicle they can get away with deffered maintenance. A clutch is just another headache and definitely not wanted as they sit in bumper to bumper traffic commuting from the bedroom community they are forced to live in heading to their dead end job to grind away yet another day just to pay the mortgage on the shitty house they didn't want and feed their thankless entitled crotch spawn. ever search web? RallyCross, also known as RallyX, is a type of car competition in the United States and Canada, sanctioned by Sports Car Club of America (SCCA). It is a timed event that involves solo driving on grass or dirt and can be considered "autocross on the dirt." As with autocross, the emphasis is on driver skill and handling rather than absolute speed, with frequent corners generally keeping speeds below 60 mph (100 km/h). In many ways RallyCross is to rally racing as autocross is to road racing.

This is my car, finally! I've had mine since 2010, bought it with 13K on the clock. At 145K now, I've gotten in two major accidents, hail damage, hit multiple animals. The car is a miniature tank. I keep thinking I'll get rid of it...but it just won't die. I love it. It literally is the meme "Yaris, it's a car!"
My Yaris was exactly this, color and everything. It was the first car I was able to finance, it took me from East to West coast then back again, and was a big part of my life for 7 years. It took my first child home from the hospital. I still miss it.
My daughter has a 2008 Yaris that she loves. It's been a great car for her that has been trouble free. Her Yaris though has power windows and locks. It rides on some TRD lowering springs for a mild drop but sure makes it look better on her aftermarket alloy wheels. It's a 5-speed manual transmission that I installed a TWM short shifter on it. After she tinted the windows it looks great.
Very good to know! When my Ford FuckUs keels over in a couple years or so I'll consider a manual Yaris. Sure hope this year's model is just as bullet proof since it'll likely be all that's around by then. Kind of a bummer the console is in the middle of the dash, though (I guess to let them make one part for both left and right hand drive?)
Thanks for the fair review, I just bought a one owner well maintained 2007 Yaris 3 door hatchback with 5 speed manual transmission last week to have as a cheap car to drag around behind our motorhome when we travel. After a week or so of driving it around most days to shake the bugs out, I can confidently say it is not as bad as I thought it would be. Now sure it has 1/4th the horsepower, is slower, rougher riding, has less comfortable seats, than my daily driver, which is a Dodge Challenger SRT-8 with 6 speed manual transmission, but all of that was to be expected. Overall, in nearly every aspect it is not as bad as I thought it would be, being a 6'0" tall 200ish pound man, I was surprised how easy it is to get in and out of, how relatively comfortable the seats are (way better than my son's former car a 2008 Nissan Sentra), how responsive the little 4 cylinder engine is, even the manual transmission gear shifter felt better than any other comparable ecconobox I have driven. Sure it still feels like you are shifting a fork in a bowl of mashed potatoes, but at least with the Yaris it is a bowl of extra thick mashed potatoes. I suspect the 5 speed manual is a bit more peppy than the automatic, as it is rated with a 0-60 time of around 9.5 seconds, I have yet to take it onto an limited access highway, though I have had it up to 65 mph or so on a 4 lane highway, and I can tell that that is about the upper end of its happy speed, with the car starting to feel a bit light and squirrely even at that speed. Overall I think it should do a fine job for general tourist duty, grocery getting, etc. when we travel, and at under 2,300 pounds it would tow almost like it is not even there behind the motorhome. So my vote for the Yaris motto is, Not as bad as I thought it would be.
The sedan version of that Yaris (Belta in Japan) is my 1st car I owned and I love driving it for as long as its slow and steady. It's no Porsche 911 but it's reliable.

Reliable, good mileage, fun to drive, tons of space to transport almost anything you need, and no fancy digital things that are going to break on me. It for sure grew on me lol

But the corolla sold better than anything during cfc

A few things about the manual though, you aren't going to get 40 mpg all day. When everythings running perfectly I'd regularly get 38 but lately 35 has been good (probably winter fuel and whatnot)
But my manual does have a tachometer and it's pretty dang fun to drive too.

You _are_ alone. The kid he spoke of was fictional.
I Have had her since 2012, and I will NEVER get rid of her! I have carried; bales of straw, 55 gallon drums, palates, 8 goats, and even a calf, in the handy fold down back seat hatchback. I have taken her in the desert, and in the woods, up a logging road on the side of a mountain.
This is the most perfect car in the universe. Hands down.
...AND...
❤🚙❤ I love the 2 separate personal glove compartments, and SEVEN cup holders!!!

Yes.
This car embodies sadness and the automatic transmission is part and parcel.
@@dubbreak Wow. That was oddly specific...
ShadowFalcon because like 98% of the Yaris in this country come with an auto already. You’d have to track a manual down
@@DK-nv9zu Sounds like the 2007 Hyundai Elantra I have; it's the only one of that body style I've seen with a 5-speed, and I've seen quite a few. My roommate's sister owns a black one.

I have a 2010 and it is really great for me. Cheap to buy, cheap fuel, cheap parts, cheap insurance, very maneuverable, and the hatch is huge!
"It's easy to imagine this in the garage of...."
No, no it's not.
It's hard to imagine a Yaris in any sort of garage. This is the car that's almost always parked on the curb in front of a duplex, or in an apartment complex parking lot. MAYBE a carport.
Nobody with a garage owns a Yaris.

@@spakentruth He was a better driver. At the Rally X place they had around that time max speeds were closer to 40. Some cars never get out of 2nd. All about how you can throw it around.
I'm sure this is true.
Had one. It doesn't handle horribly and there's lift off oversteer if you yank off throttle mid corner.
Yaris: When Costa Ricans text and drive, they're behind the wheel of one of these.
@Asuka Langley Yeah, I live near Alajuela.
Gotta love the DCI shoutout at 1:27. Mr Regular is still a drummer at heart :)
I am def buying a Yaris after this comment

Gave it to my son, he totaled it out. Worst decision ever.
My Yaris was exactly this, color and everything. It was the first car I was able to finance, it took me from East to West coast then back again, and was a big part of my life for 7 years. It took my first child home from the hospital. I still miss it.
I can always appreciate a car that just works.
I used to own one of these as a 16 year old and it was a great car. Wanted this review for years!
OH F*CK YEAH! Yaris Baby, the ultimate Regular Car.

"Why's this dealer taking a piss, I've been standing here for 30 mins."
Mighty car mods swapped in a 1.8 from a corolla into one. Almost straight bolt in.

Very good to know! When my Ford FuckUs keels over in a couple years or so I'll consider a manual Yaris. Sure hope this year's model is just as bullet proof since it'll likely be all that's around by then. Kind of a bummer the console is in the middle of the dash, though (I guess to let them make one part for both left and right hand drive?)
in Europe that is the SR 1.8 Yaris
Snow tyres in the front and all seasons in the back huh. Now I know why your Echo is not with us anymore.

And it looks good too in my opinion. Better than the hatch at least.

Absolutely love my manual 2007 Yaris.
It's everything that I wanted. Reliable, good mileage, fun to drive, tons of space to transport almost anything you need, and no fancy digital things that are going to break on me. (Also a big fan of having the dash cluster in the middle. Giving me a glove box too, and making it easy to see what speed I'm going without having to peer over or under my steering wheel)
and it is theft proof too as well as carjcking proof; no car criminal wants to be seen in a 2007 Yaris
